19.01.2022 THE AUSTRALIAN BUNKER AND MILITARY MUSEUM HAS LOCATED MANY UNDER GROUND BUNKER VIA AERIAL INTERPRETATION, WE HAVE USED MAG AND EM AND BOUGHT A GROUND RADAR FROM... OKM, WHICH IS THE MOST USELESS BIT OF CRAP YOU CAN BLOW MONEY. Mag has found one tunnel system so far, but we knew it was there, the photos them self-show many entry points. We have had companies come from the UK with micro gravity unit, the heat stuffed the machine as it gets hot in North Queensland. Out -rim exploration tried to adapt EM to locate the caved in entry points. The local minerals and formation of the layers played merry hell. Many test holes were dug only to find out it was a natural dyke. Target site so, as you can see, we have tried nearly everything used in mining to locate ore bodies or coal etc., but nothing has been proven 100% right at any stage until the mad did hit a huge tunnel complex that can be seen on Facebook site Townsville Hidden War or The Australian Bunker & Military Museum Facebook site where you will see the urban myth is finally busted and proven to be fact. We are seeking anyone one who thinks they have a means by which to locate the entry points. We are under no illusions that the chance of being 100% on target each time is a huge ask. Dear Daniel, I am unable to give an official interpretation of the data and the following remarks cannot be used for any purpose other than to serve as a guide to focus further investigations. If an official interpretation is required, the data can be sent to a consultant. I have attached the results of the surface EM survey conducted at your Vickers Road site on 19th August 1998. The moving loop survey was conducted using a 5 x 5m transmitting loop, with the receiver coil placed 10m from the leading edge of the loop in a sling ram configuration and moves were at 5m intervals. The traverse was only approximate as the measurements were paced but marked to ensure positions could be relocated. You will note that I have re plotted the results to better reflect the traverse we surveyed for you. Without taking a bearing, the line ran approximately East-West, we started reading from the Eastern side and an East-West profile is normally viewed looking North. I have plotted the normalised data in log-linear format and the first ten channels in linear format. The latter probably best shows the results of the survey. There are two anomalous zones. At the Eastern end, the data indicates a relatively narrow conductor at about the 15m mark. The second is wider, more conductive and more complex, and occurs between about 80-90m. From this rapid survey, it is impossible to model the results and therefore it is difficult to get an indication of the depth of the conductors but I would expect them to be within 10m of surface this is not however based on any calculations and should only be used as a guide. It is impossible to say what the cause of these anomalies is, except to say that there is something conductive below the surface in the zones indicated. Please let me know if you require any other plots, information or the name of a reliable consultant. Yours sincerely. Outer-rim That duringWW2 I was a Leading Air Craftsman Armourer and Fitter. I was based at 84 Squadron, Ross River. This strip had a bunker in Tank Hill. As part of my duties, I was in a position to enter various bunkers, these list as: - MOUNT LOUISA, ROSS RIVER, LAVARICK, TANK HILL, CASTLE HILL, MOUNT ELLIOT, MACROSSAN, ATHERTON, WEIR STRIP and VICKERS ROAD SITE. I knew equipment was buried. The flight Section 3 Head Quarters had a bunker as well. I can verify that they are bunkers and were used for storage and workshop. Mount Louisa is the biggest one in Townsville and contained aircraft and workshop equipment. This gentleman and dear friend passed away in the year 2001. He was unable to see his dream of seeing the bunkers opened and our history preserved. Like a true Australian Soldier, he hung on to life and fought to the very end to see this dream come true, in the true manner of the Anzac's. LEST WE FORGET. We have raised our concerns with city councils and government, during our research; we have found maps with large bomb dumps marked on them. These areas are now being developed on. This is a real risk, as these bomb where stacked up to thirty feet deep. Should one go off, and then we will have a chain reaction. And hole suburbs could be destroyed and lives lost. Other sources of contamination are from old oil and fuel storage tanks and munitions storage, in June 1943, the main roads commission was authorized to proceed with the preparation of sites at Townsville for three aviation spirit tanks with a total capacity of 1,500,00 gallons to be ready by the end of November, all for the air corps, also one motor spirit tank of 500,00 gallons for Army. Theses jobs were carried out on time. At magazine Island (Townsville, now where the port is, the bunker system was destroyed to make way for the port, another piece of history willing destroyed.) the main roads commission excavated and prepared foundations for a 500,00 gallon distillate oil tank and supplied all the gravel gravel. One 1,000-gallon emergency fuel tank was installed for no.3 fighter sector at Stuart, other of similar capacity at Cape Cleveland, Sydney Street, Belgian Gardens, Townsville Grammar School, and excavations were made for fuel storage at Victoria Foundry. Work at Mount St John anti-aircraft station included construction and drainage of oil and shell stores, water supply to kitchen and ablutions covering and screening magazine doors and camouflage of road. (The above is an extract out of the history of the Queensland main roads commission during world war 11, 1939-1945). The picture featured here is of an ammunition stores in Charters Towers, now known as Towers Hill. A member of the RAAF Assets Rewrite Team, made a statement that, his unit had placed small arms ammo and unexploded bombs in a audit that is covered over still today. He also made the statement there was trucks and jeeps buried in the tunnel as well. We have been informed of over audits that are in Towers Hill that are still sealed off. One of the major risks with this type of bunkers system is, seeing it is an old mine, the timber sure that help support it, rot away with time and in time, water gets into the structure and weakens it. This leaves it opens to collapse. This is a very serious problem in Gympie and areas of Brisbane, which cost the state government millions of dollars each year in addressing the problem. Even though these are old mine sites, so too are some of the ww2 bunkers that are still in existence. The principle is the same as to the construction and maintenance of the said structures. One under lying deadly danger is the fact that they have UN-exploded bombs inside them. Research has indicated that some structures may also contain mustard gas. On a recent Radio talk back show, in which abmm was involved, a lady caller claimed to have knowledge of mustard gas being inside bunkers on the Atherton tablelands.abmm has also received a claim from another source of large amounts of mustard gas inside castle hill, his unit placed it inside the bunker off bundock street, where he showed abmm staff were he put it, we were able to confirm through war time photos that their was in fact a entry their. Now there is a large complex of units. We where also informed by a contractor working on this site that large amount of concrete was pumped inside a cavity their, and special suites were worn by those involved, we have only the word of the contractor for this claim as no research as been done to see if the claim is correct. Another group were looking for many tonnes of TNT that had been rumored to be inside castle hill, the party did not find the entry that was claimed to be their. But our aerial photos shows that an entry did exist were the serviceman did claim it to be. In our recent research into this area, this rumor surfaced many times over, it is important to note, that to date abmm PTY LTD has not found any proof of this to be correct. This does not mean that it is incorrect .in recent research we have found that around 90% of oral rumors to be correct with further research. At Maxwelton, most of the house stumps used where old mustard gas containers, the department of defence carried out extensive investigations on the homes that had used them for stumps. I am told that no mustard gas was found on the homes tested. But a large dump was found close by and the contents destroyed. Another statement made by a current serving officer in the RAAF made claims of mustard gas being inside castle hill on the sea ward side. He went on to say that his unit placed the mustard gas containers there in the late 1970’s. He further went on to say that large amounts of concrete where pumped into this bunker in the hope to seal it there. It should be noted, that ABMM takes no responsibility for the claims made to us during our research. While it is recognized that when dealing with oral history, there can be some UN-reliability to the statements made. It is nearly impossible to get the archive files that pertain to this area needed to confirm or deny the claims. I don’t think any government body will willing put their hand up and say that they are aware of it or make the claim that they deposed of it in an UN-recognized many. Another recent near tragedy that took place was in Victoria, where some kids where putting cricket stumps into the ground when a large hole appeared where the stumps used to be, it was around 14 feet deep. Old world war two trucks had been buried there and were rusting away which cause a cave in, a similar experience happened in china, where a whole parade ground disappeared only a few minutes after the kids had gone back to class. This could have been a major disaster. In time this will happen here in Australia, in areas of Townsville there are suburbs built on old ww2 dump sites. There are houses that are sinking into the ground and no one wants to take the responsibility to solve the problem, our research has shown that the city council and the developer of that period of time new it was there and that it was local knowledge of that it was a dump. other areas we are aware that human remain were found where an old hospital was and the crew were told not to worry about it and cover it over, in another case, when bombs were found while lying a pipe line, the bombs were rolled back into onto of the pipe line. We have had many cases retold to us about wrong doings to save money or make sure no one was really aware of what had happened, all for the sake of money. So, if you think you have a better means then what has already been used and geology has played merry hell when a test hole was dug. Found it to be natural virgin ground. This is a big ask, but joining our team when you prove or we do some d&r to build a unit to locate what we are looking for. There is also room for a said company to become our full-time team who locate entry points. In Queensland alone we have located more than 3000 by aerial photograph interpretation by a former defense instructor and an expert as all the staff now at Russel offices are his former students In late March 200, I received information from an ex RAAF member regarding the location of an old WW2 Command Centre that he had inspected inside Castle Hill in 1958. It is located immediately behind the Green Street Bunker at West End. In July 2001, the location of the Command Centre is clearly visible as a filled in area of the slope of Castle Hill adjacent to the Green Street Bunker . Entry to the Command Centre was via some large steel doors into the side of Castle Hill, which then took you into a small airlock area. There were a number of very large rooms and some small rooms. There was a small window in one of the rooms adjacent to the air lock which would allow someone to check who had entered the air lock. Back in 1958 there was some .38" ammunition still in this room along with some flares. There were probably 100 to 200 rounds of .38" ammunition in small cardboard boxes inside an ammunition box. The largest room was the plotting room, which you entered by going down a flight of about 6 to 8 large stairs. It contained a large Perspex disposition board situated in the middle of the room. This Perspex board still had information on it showing the location of military bases and the disposition of the Pacific Fleet. There were still a number of the china graph pencils below the disposition board. It looked like the room was just abandoned after the end of the war. The disposition board, which was probably about 25 feet long by 10 feet high, was suspended in a frame that was attached to the floor and the roof of the plotting room. There were numerous of timber benches around the various rooms. There was one room off to one side, which may have been the Radio Room. There was no radio equipment there though. This room only had a few broken chairs in it. One of the smaller rooms had a smaller disposition board showing details for transport. The furniture in the rooms was made of very good quality timber. There were at least two tunnels leading off into Castle Hill. They were wide enough to allow 3 - 4 people to walk beside each other down the tunnel. One tunnel had a lot of machinery in it including electric motors. The roof of the tunnels had wiring and ducting for the lighting and air conditioning system. It is thought that one of these tunnels may have gone through Castle Hill and exited near the Townsville General Hospital. I received a phone call from Wal, Caloundra of 36 Squadron RAAF on 25 July 2001. Wal told me that he went for an interview with North East Area Headquarters at a site in Sidney Street, West End. He said it was a very well camouflaged and secret location. Wal's wife,, was a WAAF who was living at the WAAF barracks in Ann Street and was taken daily with a cook to the Officer's Mess near the Sidney Street bunker. she advised that the bunker at Sidney Street was a Signal Station for North East Area HQ. She also advised that the Headquarters for the Signal Station was located nearby, camouflaged into the side of Castle Hill. Fay's recollection from almost 60 years ago was that this HQ was about 1/4 of a mile up the slopes of Castle Hill and slightly more towards the Belgian Gardens side of the hill. Was this HQ for the Signal Station, the Command Centre that is described above? Over the years I have received various reports of secret bunkers and tunnels in Castle Hill and Mount Louisa. I received some evidence that suggested there was a tunnel near the Green Street bunker. It was reported by John Matthews, a Purchasing Officer at RAAF Garbutt, that the entrance was in the slopes behind the Green Street bunker. He indicated that the tunnel and the Green Street bunker were reportedly used by the RAAF for storage of parts up until 1969. At this time the tunnel was reportedly sealed off as its concrete lining was starting to become unstable. Another one of the many rumors about secret tunnels in Castle Hill suggested that there was an entrance in the floor of the Green Street bunker. In 1985 a section of the floor of this bunker was dug up in a forlorn attempt to find the secret tunnel. ________________________________________ Was this Command Centre the proposed Area Combined HQ? Or was it the location where Col. F.R. North, the Commander of TOWN FORCE, had his offices inside Castle Hill? The Secretary, Air Board, MELBOURNE (For attention Deputy Chief of the Air Staff) BUILDING PROGRAMME TOWNSVILLE AREA. The following observations are made after consultation with Wing Commander J. LEREW and Squadron Leader W. BROOKES of No.24 Squadron who have recently returned from RABAUL; upon information received from MALAYA; and taking into consideration reports of enemy action against aerodromes and the destruction of buildings in ENGLAND, HONOLULU and other theatres of war. 2. It becomes most apparent that a radical change must be undertaken in the planning of our home stations, and with reference to the work in the vicinity of TOWNSVILLE, the following recommendations are made:- (a) That the proposal for the extension of living accommodation at No 24 Squadron be radically revised immediately and the hutments for the additional personnel be dispersed to an area at least a mile or a mile and a half away from the aerodrome, if possible utilizing existing residential buildings. It should be pointed out that unless the living accommodation provided is of such a type that the suspicions of the enemy are not aroused by air reconnaissance, it would be better were the buildings old ones and either shifted from existing positions in the town or else constructed in such a way that they appear similar as farm houses. The Squadron Commander is of the opinion that it would not be necessary to have a very large number of men in this vicinity, and probably five or six houses placed at fairly wide intervals, together with one house which would act as a Mess for all ranks would be sufficient. This will be necessary as any closely erected buildings resembling Army or Air Force establishments would be attacked in turn by the enemy once they have gained even slight aerial superiority. (b) That the dispersal points as suggested by Air Board be placed also at least a mile from the aerodrome. A reconnaissance of the area has been made and suitable dispersal areas are being considered. It is possible to obtain simple dispersal roads without large expense or trouble, the area being to the South of the aerodrome connected thereto by the road now passing the American Erection Hangar. There is an alternative road, which will pass the No. 2 Store (Wilcox Mofflins). It will be necessary to take the aircraft through paddocks in this vicinity, and have entrances thereto through widths of removable fence. At the moment it is not intended to gravel these taxiways, as it may be necessary to either manhandle the aircraft or else use tractors. (c) That the proposed new operations room and general Headquarters for the Squadron which was to be placed behind the existing Civil Aviation area be done away with, and that, either a temporary structure be utilized or else the existing facilities be progressed with, pending the erection of this building in a position where it is not visible to the enemy and is placed either underground or semi-underground in the vicinity of either CASTLE HILL or MT. LOUISA. (d) That the existing camouflage scheme be carried on as far as possible, but that strong consideration be given to the camouflage of the resisted and re-located buildings. (e) As there is not very much traffic proceeding along the CAIRNS INNISFAIL road now, it may be considered advisable to deviate the traffic away from the aerodrome proper. To do this it would be necessary to deviate traffic over the railway crossing adjacent to GARBUTT Siding, and to re-route it parallel to the CAIRNS INNISFAIL road, two blocks back from that road, for a distance of about 2 miles. In doing this it will be necessary to cross the creek and to have a low level bridge. The cost of lightly grading this road and building the bridge would be about 1500 pounds, which expenditure seems justifiable in view of the fact that there may be a great deal of traffic across the CAIRNS INNISFAIL road in the vicinity of the aerodrome. 3. (a) With reference to the building of the UNITED STATES Army Headquarters in TOWNSVILLE, it is felt that consideration should be given to the buying of a section of the town rather than the erection of a large number of buildings to represent a small suburban development. The reason for suggesting this is that, although the scheme is satisfactory from a theoretical point of view, yet in all probability JAPANESE reconnaissance aircraft will be over TOWNSVILLE before the whole scheme be completed, and consequently, the builders’ spoil in the vicinity of the constructions will indicate in the aerial photographs that some military programme is progressing in the vicinity of the aerodrome. Consequently, if this can be stopped now prior to the commencement of building operations considerable time, concerned effort, property and probably lives will be saved. (b) It is also considered that the UNITED STATES Army Headquarters Operations Room should be constructed if possible under cover of a hill or underground in order that it may be disguised and protected in a similar manner to that suggested for the Operations Room No. 24 Squadron. 4. It is, however, suggested that in construction no building should be put on stilts and that owing to the extreme fragmentation of the JAPANESE bombs and also to the manner in which fibro cement shatters, that this material should not be used at all in future in any of our buildings. It is considered highly dangerous, and that it would be much better to build in timber only, utilizing this rubberoid type of roof or any type of roof covering which will not shatter. The building should also have a concrete floor which experiment has shown to be quite satisfactory in places such as MALAYA. The reason for having the buildings low is that it is considered much safer. 1. As labor in the TOWNSVILLE district at the moment is very limited the whole question of construction of Defense works should be considered very seriously and priority arrived at. The works which should receive first priority are those connected with the provision of the five satellite aerodromes, which were mooted by the U.S. Army Air Corps. These works would be definitely in the interests of the protection of NORTHERN QUEENSLAND whereas the erection of many new buildings would merely provide added targets for the enemy, and unless they are made bomb and splinter proof, it is doubtful if the expenditure would be warranted in their construction. 2. It is recommended that the following be the order of priority for works in TOWNSVILLE:- (a) U.S. Project No 1 (b) Shelter Hangars (c) U.S. Project No.2, Headquarters buildings (d) R.A.A.F. Squadron buildings. 3. Your consideration and comments on the above would appreciated and, if agreement can be reached upon the policy to be furthered, it is recommended that immediate steps be taken, through Air Staff, to carry it into effect. Air Commodore, AIR OFFICER COMMANDING NORTH EASTERN AREA. (This copy was signed, but signature was unrecognizable) So bottom line , love to see what ground breaking technology is out there, there is more than enough work both in the uxo side of things with a proven method and locating bunkers, that contains millions of surplus equipment inside, of which 49 cents in the dollar of profit goes straight back to programs we will run for veterans, better lawyers, better housings and better access to mental health and we will be a ex defense employer as well. the dva had 100 years to get it right and they still cant, defense has had over 100 years to get it right and they wont, so it is time for change. We will pick up what should be being done for the right reasons.
