25.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW - Shared from DBQ

25.01.2022 Some sneaky pics from afar of this mornings paddle...

24.01.2022 Dear Fellow Paddlers, It is with regret that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Townsville Dragon Boat Club has cancelled the NQ Inter City Regatta. We are disappointed that we will not be hosting this event in May but hope that we will be able to organise it for later in the year. Please stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to catching up with everyone in the near future.

23.01.2022 Happy 20th Birthday DBQ

22.01.2022 To all past and present members of Townsville Dragon Boat Club - we have some exciting news...TDBC has turned 10 and we would love you to help us celebrate. Save the dates have been emailed out with more information to come as it gets closer!! We hope you can join us!! For any information please contact our secretary on [email protected]

22.01.2022 Our first paddle back on The Strand...what a great morning to be out doing what we love!....was great to see Olwyn and Ros for coffee after!

21.01.2022 Spitfires keeping in touch while social distancing. Today we got together for a bit of a chat, only able to access up to 8 at a time through messenger, but we managed with people popping in and out throughout the chat. Think it's time for us to set up zoom and make this a regular catch up. Was lovely to see how everyone is doing. From our club to yours - we hope everyone is doing well with their isolation and getting through these tough times. We will be back on the water one day and back to racing - until then stay safe our dragon friends!

21.01.2022 Such a beaut morning for a paddle. The dolphins even came along to say hi.

21.01.2022 Today’s view from the boat!

21.01.2022 This is what it's all about, our most recent regatta we attended Coast to Coast 2021

20.01.2022 One of our members needed some help with her yard and gardens...so of course our dragon family organised a working bee to help out...We arrived with our gloves and every piece of gardening equipment imaginable, 20 dragons and a couple of partners set to work. Followed by a lovely lunch down by the river. What a great supportive club we have!

20.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all our dragon family, both near and far. Enjoy this break, stay safe and hopefully everyone is able to spend some time with their loved ones after the crazy year we have had.

20.01.2022 Please come down and support our club at our first Bunnings sausage sizzle fundraiser at Fairfield Waters. Our morning crew are ready to go!!

20.01.2022 Sadly this morning, Wendy Robertson, a former dragon boater of our club, passed away. Wendy was a member of our club for eight years and during this time she served as TDBC's membership registrar, a sweep and a coach. Everyone that knew Wendy will have fond memories of her cheeky antics and her zest for life. May she rest in peace. Our prayers and thoughts go out to her family.

19.01.2022 We may not be able to see each other in person or paddle together at the moment...But Spitfires are keeping in contact weekly via zoom meetings. It's great to hear how people are managing in their work life, how they are catching up with grandkids, what crafts they now have time for - with some beautiful projects in the making, what they are baking, how their gardens are doing and all their skills being put into practice. Next zoom meeting falls on ANZAC day and in true Spitties spirit I think we all need to dress in our Aussie colours for that meeting or wear a poppy if you have one!!

19.01.2022 Great timing to celebrate the sport we love...just as we are able to get back on the water!

18.01.2022 Doesn't get cold in NQ often....so out come the beanies for our zoom chat today!! #townsvilledragonboatclub

18.01.2022 We will have a stand set up - come down and see us!! We can tell you all about Dragon Boating and arrange a day for you to come and have a paddle with us!!

18.01.2022 Restrictions are starting to ease, but still no idea when we will be back on the water....here are a few pics from State Titles held in March this year. We were lucky enough to have been able to attend this regatta just before things went into lockdown

16.01.2022 Here at TDBC even though our focus is paddling we do enjoy a good social outing as well. Here is a short clip of some of our get togethers that we are missing...a little walk down memory lane!!

16.01.2022 Come on down and see us....set up and ready to tell you all about our club and what we do!!

16.01.2022 Townsville Dragon Boat Club Inc would like to honour all the mothers in our dragon boat family, Enjoy your celebrations today all over our country and beyond. Even though we may not get to celebrate Mothers day together in a traditional style with our mums or children, its a good feeling to know you can still be connected with the ones you love.Friendship and motherhood are two of the most wonderful things that anyone can experience! Happy Mothers Day to all!

14.01.2022 Jaz paddling with the Sonics and Steve paddling with Tweed Heads

14.01.2022 Final paddle today for 2020...first paddle for 2021 will be Tuesday 12th Jan at Loam Island. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and look forward to catching up with all our dragons in the new year.

13.01.2022 Some black and white snaps...

13.01.2022 When the 2020 Pan Pacific Masters Games were cancelled in June, we gave our stakeholders and supporters an undertaking that we would evaluate the idea of a 2021... edition of the Pan Pacific Masters Games. That evaluation has been finalised. The evaluation has revealed stories of struggle and hardship from our stakeholders seriously impacted by COVID-19 and not having an event in 2020. Many of our sports partners who rely on the Pan Pacific Masters Games to provide economic benefits every two years are in dire financial situations due to the loss of the event in 2020. Many supporters and stakeholders are battling for survival, just like us. We understand the impacts on our supporters and stakeholders of a four year gap from the last Games in 2018 to the next scheduled Pan Pacific Masters Games in November 2022, would be significantly negative We understand the impacts of a 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games on our supporters and stakeholders would be significantly positive We understand there would be competing impacts in 2021 from a New Zealand Masters Games in February, a Great Barrier Reef Masters Games in May, and a Perth based Australian Masters Games in October We understand some of our fellow Masters Games with whom we have enjoyed friendly and productive relationships over many years would prefer we did not have a 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games We understand a 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games would disappoint some participants who will be forced to make difficult choices in which Masters Games they support We understand personal circumstances and choices would force some participants to forgo a 2021 Pan Pacific Masters Games We understand our local and state government partners have a strong desire to support a 2021 event We understand our host sports organisations support a 2021 event to remain viable We understand that hosting a 2021 edition of the Asia Pacific's biggest and best Masters Games would not be universally supported, but would ensure its survival, rather than its extinction When faced with the reality of consequences revealed by the evaluation, our focus is to rebuild the event to offer a Pan Pacific Masters Games from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 November 2021 and return as scheduled in November 2022. Further details including a draft sports program will be released as soon as they are available.

11.01.2022 As there is no opportunity for regattas at the moment our club decided to have a little competition amongst ourselves. We have been training the last few weeks for a 6km 'to the bridge and back intra club race'. It was neck and neck all the way with team 2 crossing over the line just ahead of team 1. Well done to all the paddlers, especially our new ladies who have only just started paddling...you did really well paddling that distance!! 6km in 38 mins. Everyone is keen to do this again and that is the time we need to improve on! Thank you also to our coaches for your commitment to our training and to the sweeps on the day for guiding the race!

11.01.2022 We would like to wish all the Dads in our Dragon Boat Community a very Happy Fathers Day!!
