25.01.2022 From our family to yours on this Mother’s Day we wish love to all our amazing mothers - may you also enjoy an early wake up today! We hope you are spoiled rotten! This is also an important day to express sorrow to those that are grieving the loss of their mum and also to those who have lost a child - this is always a difficult day and our thoughts are with you. To our expecting and first time mums, nothing can prepare you for the difficult but joyful job ahead - may you enjoy many early starts, cuddles and home-made gifts in the years ahead!

25.01.2022 Baby Marlo came earthside recently and was a welcome addition to his gorgeous family. Mum Dee and dad Craig were ecstatic at Marlo’s arrival, and we were so excited to be a part of his entry to the world. Thanks Dee and Craig for trusting us with the arrival of your gorgeous child!

23.01.2022 Teighan and Tim welcomed handsome Xander in June, and he is a boy with a big personality, as you can see from his amazing smile! He is slowly learning that sleep is not optional, which is making his parents very happy. Xander was born during the height of COVID restrictions on our Women's Unit, and his parents handled the isolation with their usual grace and good humour. We wish them all the best!

23.01.2022 One in in four pregnancies end in loss. October 15 is National Infant Loss and Remembrance Day, and we've spent some time today thinking of and honouring our families who have suffered this tragedy. We are with you always.

23.01.2022 This is Alfio! He is a healthy, happy boy who is around six months old now. He joined mum Tessa and dad Paul in May 2020, right in the middle of NQ’s COVID-19 lockdown. Big brother Max had to wait a while to meet him, but by all accounts, he was worth it. Best of luck to this wonderful family!

23.01.2022 Many of our families have told us of the tremendous benefit they gained from our alliance with community midwife Kathy Ward. Kathy has decades of midwifery experience and Dr Aubrey has know her for many years. She offers women a fully Medicare rebated first visit at home or in our rooms. At this appointment, Kathy talks through late pregnancy issues, breastfeeding establishment and baby care. She is also available for breastfeeding support after women go home from hospital. Dr Aubrey will discuss planning a visit with Kathy around the time of your 28w appointment, but this can be arranged earlier if desired. We strongly encourage our antenatal patients to utilise this fantastic service! https://mycommunitymidwife.com.au/

22.01.2022 We are very happy to report that the Federal and State governments have this week given permission for the full return of private elective surgery. Dr Aubrey's regular operating lists will re-open, and we will be in contact with our patients who have been awaiting a date for surgery. We thank you all so much for your patience. If you are awaiting planned surgery with Dr Aubrey, and don't hear from our reception or nursing staff in the coming week, please contact our rooms for an update.

22.01.2022 What can we say about these AMAZING photos of Hamish, shared by his mum Taija and dad Craig? Hamish has clearly thrived in his first weeks of life, and was just as settled at mum's six week check as he is in these photos. We were so thrilled to be part of Hamish's entry to the world. and thank this beautiful little family for sharing these fantastic photos with us!

21.01.2022 Postnatal fitness and social contact is so important - Kangatraining might suit you and your baby, and there are socially distant options available. #supportlocal https://www.facebook.com//a.857318911033/3044049172360742/

21.01.2022 Little James was born at the end of September, weighing 3.18kg. His parents Marinel and George, met every challenge during her pregnancy with resilience and positivity, and we were grateful to look after them. This is their take on parenthood so far: ‘’It has been the most AMAZING experience for both of us from pregnancy, birth, and now learning all about our little James. Loving every moment! He’s so good and such a laid back bubba so far.’’

20.01.2022 Our automated phone system failed this morning. Our rooms are not open on Fridays, and thus calls were not answered. We apologise for any confusion and ask that you please call to confirm appointments or ask referral questions on Monday. Our apologies again.

20.01.2022 Here's an introduction to one of many wonderful members of the Mater midwifery team. Any of our mums would be lucky to have Carly by their side in labour ...

19.01.2022 Baby Dottie was long awaited by mum Krystal and dad Michael, and she finally arrived early last month. We wish this beautiful couple all the best with their gorgeous daughter, and thank them for sharing these newborn photos with us.

15.01.2022 How cute is Luca? He recently turned one year old, and according to his mum, he is big, healthy and a pure joy! Thanks to Anastasia for updating us about Luca's progress. He is certainly a handsome blue-eyed boy!

14.01.2022 Oh my! Baby Liana joined us late last month. She was initially to be born in London, and her parents endured quarantine and a range of other challenges to embrace a new lifestyle in North Queensland. Dr Sally enjoyed some cuddles with Liana just before her discharge. Congratulations to this lovely family - Townsville is lucky to have you.

12.01.2022 Luckily these two played nicely today, putting their State of Origin differences aside before the big game tonight! While our team allegiance lies always with the Maroons, our True Blue receptionist Amanda earned some brownie points by supplying cupcakes in both flavours. Yum!

11.01.2022 We are closed today and will reopen at 9am tomorrow morning. We apologise that our phone system was down earlier - it is currently being updated.

10.01.2022 Happy International Midwives Day to our professional colleagues, including our practice midwife Kathy McBow! Kathy strives for compassion, care and dignity for our patients, and loves to provide personalised care. Thank you, Kathy, for all that you do for us and for our patients!

09.01.2022 Adrianna and Dean McNamara drove from Ayr to Townsville in the early hours of last Sunday morning to welcome their second baby boy Jaiah into the world. This... lovely couple were under the care of Dr Sally Aubrey throughout their pregnancy journey and were welcomed by Jess, Tamika and Dr Kurinji Kannan on weekend cover. Unlike most, baby Jaiah was born exactly on his due date! Perfect timing. This very strong and determined mama rocked her VBAC! Go team!!

08.01.2022 A message to our patients who are recovering from uterine cancer treatment or continuing follow-up ...

07.01.2022 New mum Cayla and baby Blake dropped in to Hyde Park for some cuddles with Mater midwife Emma this week after their recent discharge. Blake’s entry to the world was a bit dramatic, but he seems to be enjoying life as his parents prepare to take him west for the long car drive home. Safe travels to this lovely family!

07.01.2022 This image of one our usually shy babies melted our hearts this week. We love taking a sneak peek inside the womb! Thanks to our mum for allowing us to share.

07.01.2022 Oh my! Baby Grayson is a heartbreaker already! Mum Liana and dad Mat should be proud as punch of this little cutie. Now that’s a smile! Liana and family, thanks for the honour of letting us look after you during your pregnancy with Grayson.

06.01.2022 Here’s a fantastic update about baby Iylah, whose birth photos we shared earlier this year. Iylah turned seven months old recently, and goes from strength to strength. She is obviously amazingly cute; and has a wonderful smile. Thanks to Iylah’s mum and dad for sharing this update with us! We love hearing about our babies down the track, and are so lucky to share the photos with our practice family too!

05.01.2022 We are lucky to be able to share more wonderful updates from our families, including this gorgeous photo of baby Sophie at three months old. Her mum Katelyn was also kind enough to share this lovely snap of the women in her family enjoying some exercise on Mother's Day. Sophie is adorable, and it was an absolute pleasure for our team to be a part of her mum's pregnancy care.

05.01.2022 3D obstetric scans can reveal so much about your baby’s activities in the womb. Dr Aubrey has undertaken additional training this week to improve her scanning skills, and was able to capture this image for one of her lovely patients today at 20 weeks. If baby is in the right position, even more detail can be seen in the third trimester. Many of Dr Aubrey’s patients are allowing her to scan them at the moment, and we thank them for their patience during prolonged appointments. (Image shared with permission)

05.01.2022 Celebrating with Dr Aubrey and all the other lefties out there!

04.01.2022 Here's a lovely reminder of the Teal Afternoon Tea event held earlier this year, at which we raised more than $6000 towards ovarian cancer research. Since then, the Townsville Ovarian Cancer Team has not slowed down, having reached the staggering fundraising total of $16,852! But the team is pushing hard to reach their ultimate goal of $20,000 by June 30. To offer your tax deductible donation for this great local cause, you can follow this link: https://www.womencan.org.au//Townsville--s-Ovarian-Cancer- .

04.01.2022 Our phones will be off today until approximately 0845am. We apologise for any inconvenience.

04.01.2022 Little Dominique was in a huge rush to join her parents, arriving at just 33 weeks earlier this year. Despite her small frame, she went from strength to strength during her extended stay in the Mater's special care nursery. She went home with her family a few weeks ago, and continues to do well at home with her loving parents. Thank you to them for providing these beautiful images of Dominique to share with our Facebook family.
