24.01.2022 It's always a good day when a parcel of tartan arrives from Scotland... MacLeod of Raasay(the red tartan), Isle of Skye (left) and Anderson Ancient (right). Can't wait to show you what is planned for each tartan! I'm about to place another order so please let me know if you'd like some tartan whether it's for a banner or to make something to wear.

23.01.2022 Here's a little ditty provided by Dennis Janice Clark to brighten your weekend!

23.01.2022 Doug Thoresen was a wonderful addition to the pipers in Townsville in the late 1960s and/or early 1970s. His daughter Fiona was a Highland dancer and Doug oft...en played when we were dancing. Fiona was not afraid of a challenge - as a young teenager she made all the bottle green full-length capes to complement the Saffron kilt then being worn as the uniform of the Army pipe band of which her dad was a member. It would be lovely to have a caption added to each of these photos to tell us which band Doug was with at that time.

22.01.2022 This is an easy to read description of how the correct wear a kilt - a good refresher for anyone! Please note the photos in the article in which the gentlemen wearing formal jackets are not wearing kilt belts - this is correct. Men are often afraid to ditch their belt, fearing their kilt will slip down - a correctly fitted kilt does not rely on a belt to stay in place.

22.01.2022 Looking for ideas on how to incorporate tartan in the outfits for a wedding party or other special occasion? Thank you to Clan Cameron France for sharing these photos...

17.01.2022 Look at these beautiful Golden Retrievers! We would love to have a couple to join our group of dogs of Scottish breeds that is taking part in the Angel-Paws fundraising walk on Sunday morning 13/9, starting at Sherriff Park. See details of the event posted on this page - it has a photo of five of the red banners each indicating the breed of the dog. Please contact Marie (0413456542) if you have a Golden Retriever that you'd like to bring along or perhaps you know someone who may like to take part.

12.01.2022 Any owners of Skye Terriers on our page? This is your dog's tartan - the Skye Terrier Tartan. Please say hello if you'd like to bring your Skye Terrier into next year's Townsville Tartan Day parade. Perhaps you know someone who owns a Skye Terrier in the North Queensland area.

11.01.2022 This was a fun event to raise funds for Angel-Paws, a Townsville group dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals. We presented eight Scottish breeds: Border Terrier, Border Collie, Golden Retriever, Rough Collie, Scottish Terrier, Shetland Sheepdog, Scottish Deerhound and West Highland Terrier. Thank you to all participants in the walk who kindly paid the $20 registration fee to take part. These donors included not only the owners of the dogs but also the banner bearers wh...o assisted by carrying a banner depicting each breed. A special thank you to piper Denis Airens who kindly offered to come and play as the Dogs of Scottish Breeds approached the entrance gate to commence the 2.5km walk. We have already received positive comments about having the bagpipes set the scene for our group! Thank you also to the family and friends who attended to show their support - very kind of you and much appreciated making it a lovely social occasion! We look forward to having more photos sent in and they will be uploaded asap.
