23.01.2022 Grants of up to $30,000 are now available through the Victorian Government's Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund. The program supports liquor licensees who own hospitality venues that have been impacted COVID-19 restrictions, including restaurants, hotels, cafes, pubs, bars, clubs or reception centres that serve food and alcohol. 23.01.2022 Council will be spraying roadside weeds across the Shire from 30 November 2020 to May 2021. Regular spraying helps manage invasive weeds like Blackberry, St John’s Wort and Sweet Briar. Expert contractors will be spraying with spray tanks on vehicles and hand held spray units.... The spraying forms part of Council's Roadside Weeds and Pest Control Program and is funded by Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. 21.01.2022 Community halls have been identified as a recovery priority by most of the Community Recovery Committees across the Shire. In a big step forward this month, preliminary assessments have been completed for halls in Berringama, Lucyvale, Tintaldra, Walwa, Towong, Thowgla (pictured) and Biggara. These assessments were to determine the integrity of the infrastructure, whether major repairs were needed, and to gather ideas for further work.... 21.01.2022 Grants of up to $5,000 are now available through the Victorian Government's Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package. The program supports businesses to adapt their operations to outdoor dining due to COVID-19 restrictions, including restaurants, cafes, pubs/taverns, bars, clubs and takeaway food venues. 20.01.2022 Summer is just around the corner and the message from the CFA (Country Fire Authority) is clear. The time to start bushfire preparation is now. Cudgewa CFA Captain, Paul Carkeek says the right preparation is the key to saving property and lives in the event of another major event. While good rains have been welcome, this can lead to greater fuel loads and the risk of late season grass fires.... It’s a call to action, and it’s time to get started. 18.01.2022 The CFA (Country Fire Authority) and Forest Fire Management Victoria announced that the official Fire Restriction Period began in Towong Shire at 1am on Monday 30 November 2020. Businesses or individuals who need to use fire in the open air to conduct their work during this period may require a permit. Depending on the type of permit you require, the assessment may be done by Council’s Fire Prevention Officer, or your local CFA District Office. If you are not sure if you need a permit, the CFA has created a handy ‘Can I or Can’t I’ checklist that details what types of activities are permitted and if a permit is required. 10.01.2022 EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE - GUYS FOREST ROAD Council wishes to advise that Guys Forest Road is currently closed due to the mechanical breakdown of a road maintenance grader. 10.01.2022 Plans unveiled for The Triangles Tallangatta Following extensive community consultation and co-design in late 2019, Council is pleased to unveil the final plan for the revitalisation of The Triangles in Tallangatta and invites feedback on the plan.
