25.01.2022 Is anyone available with a ute/trailer to pick up a settee and cube set from sensei Simon and drop to the dojo over the weekend please?

25.01.2022 A bit of motivation for all karateka returning to the dojo this week. How many do you tick? Training is all about a state or mind. If your mind is in the right state you can accomplish anything. Set you mind to the task and dont stop until it is completed, not before. Osu Sensei Simon Lees

18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Can I please ask that you ensure your child is accompanied across the car park and younger ones have their hand held. We have had some complaints that children are running around / on the car park and other business owners are worried there will be an accident. Also if anyone saw someone running into a white Audi Tuesday or Wednesday can you let us know please. Thank you

Get your parents to hold pads as that is what we will be doing. If really lucky will get out the Rocky music. Osu... Sensei Simon Lees See more

15.01.2022 Dear students, parents, avid followers. I would like to introduce to you our 7 black belt candidates who will attempt their Dan grading in just over a week. Daniel, kyran, Jesse, jazmine, Grace, Jackson and Justin. This will be our largest BB grading and what's so amazing is it comes at probably the worst year we have ever had in the history of Toyakan. For the past 6 months these students have religiously trained twice a week, submitted weekly videos for critique. Filled in... their journal weekly and for the past 6 weeks completed a weekly intensive fitness program to prepare them for what is likely the single most highest achievement in their lives so far I am honoured and proud to have these individuals as part of our dojo and I wish them all the very best of luck for their grading and into our Black Belt family. Please take the time to congratulate them if you see them in the dojo. Kancho Paul Butterfield See more

15.01.2022 Good luck to Kelly Donaldson and Tyler lees tomorrow attempting their Dan grade. Were all very proud of you both and wish you well in this auspicious time in your karate journey. Osu Kancho Paul

13.01.2022 Consider this we sometimes do this before seminars. Now some info as to why and how we do it. Osu Sensei Simon Lees

12.01.2022 THE MEANING OF DAN GRADE We have all heard the line "its not having a black belt thats the most important its being one" On many Dan grade or even Kyu grade exam certificates it says on them above the date " ON THIS DAY" meaning the date you actually took the exam, but it means so much more.. On this day simply means that on that particular day you were good enough to achieve that given grade and certainly on a Dan grade certificate it means just that "ON THAT DAY" the d...ifference with a Dan grade is that for every day you must still act and train like the Dan grade you were given, so for all those DAN grades that dont train, ask yourself the question are you living up to the Dan level you were given on that day, and please dont shoot me for being the bearer of bad news but if you are not training and studying ( not just teaching) then you are not that Dan grade you were given on that day.. So for all those out there that have Dan grades on the wall but arent training and studying then my advise to you is polish it well, really well almost as shiny as a mirror and then stand back and have a good look at yourself.. For if you arent studying and training then you arent a Dan grade you WAS a Dan grade.. But of coarse thats only my opinion and no doubt will upset a lot, but of coarse the truth can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow.. See more

11.01.2022 Our adults running through basic kihon combinations to combine into blocks kicks and punches in all directions. This gets them to develop a flow with their kihon. Osu Sensei Simon Lees

11.01.2022 Our advanced class tonight runnign through one round of thier fitness session. They did 10 rounds 30s each and 2 sets. People say our kids aren’t resilient, not one complained all gave 100% and lots of smiles at the end. Its for days like this that makes instructing the best. See for yourself Osu Sensei Simon

08.01.2022 A really interesting video of how styles became what they are today. I heard a similar story about 5 yrs ago with Kobayashi sensei although this was a Japanese version of the story. Enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GNekAIAkeRE&feature=youtu.be

08.01.2022 Great news everyone, as of Monday we will be almost back to normal, parents will be allowed back with social distancing. Between now and then we need to plumb a new bathroom in for you, and are trying to speak to our plumbers to confirm. We would ask that you try and keep the amount of people you bring to a minimum. There will still be some work needed in the new premises to get it perfect sp please bare with us.

07.01.2022 Hey everyone, please be aware we are still seeing shortages in our boxing gloves and uniforms. Gloves are due in mid August, (hopefully) both our uniform suppliers were closed yesterday in Victoria. Please be patient with us, if you are awaiting free items and you want to purchase your own (via ebay or local retailer) I will credit our cost to your account, just let me know.... Our thoughts go out to those thousands of workers now out of work again.

06.01.2022 Just a reminder our kata seminar today is a drop off event. Go and have a coffee and a chill for an hour while we take care of your kids

05.01.2022 A little bit of motivation to practice. Relate the violin to your karate training the performance is your grading and then everything fits. Holidays coming up time to practice everyday. Osu Sensei Simon Lees https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l9xOrjbfs3w

04.01.2022 Like this and oh so true, so why is it people want to take short cuts. Enjoy the journey be self-disciplined and find yourself in practicing the art every day. So many things in life require you to meet deadines resulting in things being rushed never allowing you to perfect anything. With martial arts you will never reach the end, which is perfection, accept it!! So if there is no end or deadline then no need to rush. Enjoy the practice, the training, the pain and discipline and the self discovery. Osu Sensei Simon Lees
