25.01.2022 Richly deserved congratulations to our friends and colleagues at Police Association of NSW who are celebrating their centenary today. You should be proud of the 100 years of fierce and effective advocacy to continually improve the working lives of your members over the generations so that they could properly protect your community. All of us at TPAV are proud to work with you at national forums to do the same on behalf of the entire policing family across the country.

24.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the policing dads out there who sacrifice time with their children to look after our communities. We salute you!

22.01.2022 Morning, noon and night. Rain, hail or shine. There’s no type of weather or time of day that will stop our members from looking out for you. ... Here are some of the photos they’ve captured while deployed to the Victoria-NSW border this week. We thank them for their service.

22.01.2022 "The image of this forlorn member, still wearing her mask back at the office shortly after the alleged attack, gave everyone a glimpse of the human fragility that sits behind the uniform." In today's Herald Sun, TPAV Secretary Wayne Gatt sums up the toll our members face to protect the community during the pandemic. READ HERE: tpav.info/2XEpw2A... #protectourprotectors

22.01.2022 An empty seat around the Christmas table, or missing presents under the tree. This is the reality for families of our fallen members, who sacrificed their lives to protect our community. Help brighten their holidays by donating to the Victoria Police Legacy Children’s Christmas Appeal at www.givenow.com.au/vplchristmas It will mean more than you know. Thanks to our friends at BankVic for their support of this appeal.

22.01.2022 Today we pay tribute to Senior Constable Simon David De Winne, who died on the job on Boxing Day, 22 years ago. Sen Constable De Winne was pursuing a speeding motorcyclist on December 26, 1998, when his patrol car slid off the road and into a tree beside the Midland Highway, near Benalla. Simon is remembered by loved ones and colleagues for his love of life and his passion for policing.... He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Police Star in 2007. Our thoughts are with Simon’s family and friends on the anniversary of his death. His loss is an important reminder that, even during this time of celebration, our members never stop putting themselves at risk in order to keep our community safe. We will always be grateful for your service, Simon. To honour Simon’s memory and support those left behind, you can donate to Victoria Police Legacy: www.policelegacyvic.org.au

22.01.2022 "You have to be going out wearing a sandwich board with 'fine me, I'm an idiot' written on it to get done that many times (10) by the police" - Wayne Gatt, TPAV Secretary

21.01.2022 We couldn't agree with you more Dan Andrews, thanks for acknowledging the work of our police and PSOs, and their families, during this challenging period. #springst

20.01.2022 Being part of my community as a police officer is so important to me. This is why I come to work to serve and protect my community. I’m here for them.

19.01.2022 This 26-year-old Constable returned to the station concussed and missing a clump of hair. Because she asked someone to wear a mask. She and many others are sacrificing their safety for our safety. #protectourprotectors

19.01.2022 As you prepare to see out 2020 with loved ones, spare a thought for our members who will ring in the New Year working far from home on the Vic-NSW border. Thanks to our members for sacrificing the festive season to keep the community safe. If you’re travelling through a border checkpoint, don’t forget to say thanks to the members you encounter. It means more than you’ll ever know.

17.01.2022 Police and PSOs are more likely than the general public to experience mental health illness and injury. And this year has been particularly challenging. We’re asking you to use R U OK Day to check in on your loved ones who are in the job, and encourage them to seek mental health support if they need it. If you need support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you’re a member, our Wellbeing Officers are available 24/7 on 03 9468 2600.... Resources for current and former police and PSOs available at www.bluespacewellbeing.com.au See more

17.01.2022 As the sun sets on a massive 2020, here are three easy ways you can help our Police and PSOs working this New Year's long weekend: be sensible, be safe and be kind. Happy New Year to you and yours, from all of us here at TPAV. : Jason Hempseed

17.01.2022 Today we farewell Senior Constable Dennis Cox, who ran the one-member station at Sea Lake in northwest Victoria. As Coxy said in 2018: You’re more than a policeman to the town, you’re a bit of everything, social worker, you’re there for advice on things. People just feel comfortable coming to see you. And they did. Thank you Coxy. Your community was lucky to have you and we know they're saddened to lose you, just as we are

16.01.2022 We are saddened today to hear that former TPAV President and Life Member Lionel Allemand OAM has passed away. Lionel joined TPAV in February 1960, and was one of the longest serving Board members in TPAV’s history, serving for 18 years between 1972 and 1990, including a two year term as President between 1979-81. Lionel served as TPAV’s first ever Field Officer from 1985-1993 and was inducted as a TPAV Life Member in 1995. Lionel’s wife Mary Lou was inducted as a TPAV Life Me...mber in 1999 for her unwavering support for Lionel in serving the membership. Lionel, together with fellow TPAV Board member (the late) Mervyn Pickering, was instrumental in establishing the Police Association Credit Cooperative in 1974 (now known as BankVic). Lionel went on to serve as BankVic Chairman for 16 years and director for 26 years. In addition to his almost four decades of policing, Lionel also served as Mayor and Councillor of the City of Doncaster and Templestowe, and on Manningaham City Council. 04.01.2022 TPAV Secretary Wayne Gatt sat down recently with reporters at TheInformer to explain why the Victorian Government’s proposed public drunkenness reforms are dangerously undercooked. The challenge here is to make sure we don’t fix one problem and create many others We need to make sure that the Police can continue to do their job and respond to calls for assistance from the community in a meaningful and effective way, Wayne says. In the interview, Wayne also pays his res...pects to our four members who died in April's Eastern Freeway crash and reflects on findings from the Coronial Inquest into the 2017 Bourke Street tragedy. http://tpav.info/37znciy
