09.01.2022 It's Friday! Know anyone who has a staircase like this?

08.01.2022 International and interstate buyers cannot physically inspect the properties for sale, but a Gold Coast real estate agent says "activity is enormous" in its residential market despite the pandemic.. "The lure" of record low interest rates and the Australian dollar had been attracting buyers from as far off as Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. "They're cashed up, so they're trying to secure property so when they can come back to Australia they've got something here," -ABC News.

08.01.2022 Without the JobKeeper wage subsidy, Australia would have seen a much higher number of employment relationships lost during the pandemic than where it is today. New data from the Reserve Bank of Australia showed the wage subsidy programme reduced total employment losses by at least 700,000 from April to July considerably the height of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020 during which an estimated 3.5 million workers received wage support. One in five employees who received JobKeeper (and, thus, remained employed) would not have remained employed during this period had it not been for the JobKeeper Payment, RBA economists James Bishop and Iris Day wrote in a paper published this week.

02.01.2022 Thinking of moving to Central Queensland when travel bans are lifted? Unlike in other pandemic-affected industries, employment in the Queensland mining sector has steadily increased and it now employs more than 60,000 people, with 20,000 of them based in Central Queensland. CQ University regional development expert John Rolfe said the level of employment in the sector had gradually rebuilt over the past five years.... "The mining industry really slowed down from 2012 to 2016 and a lot of ... cities, like Mackay, were badly affected," he said. "There's been a slow gradual rebuild and it's not appreciated just how strong the industry is performing now compared to just a few years ago. "In Queensland, we're back over ... 60,000 people now, so we're back past where we were at the height of the mining boom in 2012."

02.01.2022 A common issue we come across when it comes to talking about buying your first home is people think because they have debt or credit problems all is lost. There's no magic wand to make it go away but what we do have is many years of experience in helping people plan for a better future. ... Don't write yourself off before you start!

01.01.2022 Media outlets have published various articles over the last week with a range of tantalising headlines that declares something along the lines of: RBA predicts up to 40 percent drop in house prices. Now, if you’re a first homebuyer or someone who is keen to get your foot on the property ladder, this might seem like good news. Right?... Wrong it’s just not going to happen. Australia is not one of the countries that experienced a 40 percent price collapse in during the GFC. Our banking and finance systems were very different and far more robust than the US (which did suffer up to 40 percent drops) and following more than a decade of regulatory reform, they’re even more risk-averse today. A huge part of the reason why the US housing market collapsed was due to non-recourse loans something we don’t have in Australia. Sensationalism may get clicks, but if you want the facts, it's best to talk to David Bye the Property Guy!
