12.01.2022 Tracey G Prosthetics & Lingerie was proud to support the Sunshine Coast Breast Cancer Friendship Circle during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2020. The Sunshine Coast Breast Cancer Friendship Circle is a free, volunteer-organised social group bringing together people of all genders who have a lived experience with breast cancer (past or present). The Circle held a group walk and picnic in the park which was supported by Tracey G Prosthetics & Lingerie through donat...ion of prize vouchers and baked goods in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia’s Pink Bun campaign. The Sunshine Coast Breast Cancer Friendship Circle is administered by volunteers - themselves breast cancer survivors - who coordinate the Circle's online community and organise monthly face-to-face social meet-ups to connect people for support, friendship and understanding. The group of 140 members was instigated in 2019 by breast cancer physiotherapist Jen McKenzie who recognised a need for face-to-face connection among Sunshine Coast women and men diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. People can join the private (closed) group on Facebook after answering three qualification questions to confirm eligibility. 09.01.2022 Every year, #Mater receives breast care cushions and drainage bags from the volunteers at Zonta Brisbane East for women and men who have undergone breast surger...y. In recognition of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth this October, patient Andrea Stark pictured here with Nurse Alana, shared the difference these specialised support resources have made to her journey with breast cancer so far. The fact that volunteers have sat down and made something for somebody like me is just gorgeous. The pillows give me extra comfort and the drain bag makes me feel more confident to go out it looks like a beautiful made accessory, Andrea said. Mater is grateful to all the #Zonta Clubs who volunteer their time to make these resources, bringing that little bit of extra comfort to patients undergoing breast surgery.
