25.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE - ACTUAL UNICORN IN OUR MIDST The true independent is generally a myth I posted yesterday in a local community group asking residents for feedback on things that are important to them so I could get a sense of what matters to people in my neighbourhood. Well, it must have been some time since anyone asked as it was flooded with suggestions, gripes and some freakin’ awesome ideas. ... See I’m a first time candidate, politically clueless and with approximately one month of campaign experience. Contrast that against some seriously seasoned contenders on the ballot with up to 18 back to back years of sitting on Council. But that’s what I thought local representatives did - ask and listen to the people they want to be serving. Imagine my surprise then when Cr. Des Hudson OAM started popping up in the comments, numerous times answering the questions people had posed to me. At first I was like OK dude, I get it. You have been on Council for close to 2 decades straight. You know these things, have at it. I mean you could start your own post asking what people want rather than passive aggressively hijacking mine but there are no rules in Facebook-land. And as I’m quickly finding out candidates will do weird things to make themselves look good in the election lead up. But I would like to make one important assertion - where you say I’m a myth I say I’m a living, breathing, fierce AF independent woman. Putting my independent, inexperienced hand up literally because the world is in all kinds of trouble and the best place I can think of to start working on that is right here at home. So to clear up any confusion I have: No ties to political parties big, small or otherwise. I vote at elections how I feel at the time. No funding, no backing, no seasoned advisers for any aspect of what I do or say, and no reason to toe the line. If people like me are a myth well that makes me a gosh darn unicorn And they say miracles never happen I’d love you to SHARE this one folks, the people of the South Ward deserve to see there’s a mythical creature they can vote for next month.

15.01.2022 Let's talk Hockey Ballarat Did you know I'm a hockey WAG? I have spent many a freezing cold afternoon sitting at the solitary hockey pitch in Ballarat watching my husband Nathan Hargreaves play. He's been with Eureka & Golden City for exactly 20 years, as well as Ballarat / Westvic at a state league level for almost as long. It was clear when we met that I'd need to embrace the game Our kids only just started playing there this year before Covid. Hockey Ballarat are calli...ng on Council to push for their share of the community sporting dollars to upgrade their facilities - particularly the women’s change rooms which desperately NEED a facelift - and a second pitch. Allow me to explain the current situation and how they make the most out of every square inch of the 1 pitch they have at present. Eureka & Golden City Hockey Club is just one of 4 clubs, along with the Bobcats Hockey Club, Ballarat Blaze Hockey Club and Students of Ballarat Hockey Club. Eureka & Golden City alone has 13 teams, and they all need to train on Weds night. This means there is 7 junior teams training at the same time in corners of the field. The last local team is usually just starting at 7:30 or 8pm. After the local leaguers are done, Westvic Hockey (the representative team for the region) go last to train. There are players traveling from as far as Warrnambool to do so, all through the long Victorian Winter. So when Hockey Ballarat says it needs to upgrade to meet the growing demands and expansion - this is what it means. Women being able to have clean, adequate change rooms and the club having a little wiggle room for all those kids + adults to train and play. It's not just about the sport too, it's about all the beautiful community and interactions that happen every day there. We have invested heavily in some brilliant facilities for Soccer, Basketball and Footy here in Ballarat. I reckon it's Hockey's time next. If elected I will be all over this. For your viewing pleasure I have attached some shots my husbo. He has won many, many best and fairests. Just saying
