11.01.2022 The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself. ~ Anna Quindlen Oh how much I’ve seen about the ‘myth of perfection’ in recent years. I don’t think there was a specific moment when I decided that perfection didn’t exist, and that any ideas I had about what it might have meant was completely made up. It was more like a slow evolution. Little by little, insight by insight, I saw that when I was a...ble to drop the stories I had in my head about who I had to be, what I had to achieve, how I had to behave, the kind of mum, wife, friend, coach I thought I HAD to be, I was able to create space for who I really was to shine through. What I hadn’t realised was these stories were creating the false belief that who I was was not enough. That it was never enough because there was always more I had to do. But the thing is... we are enough. We were born enough! I had just convinced myself through these stories the the opposite was true. You see, when we focus on the stories, we don’t hear our wisdom gently guiding us, nudging us, and protecting us to show up and just be as we are in the world in all our glory. Our design is amazing.. and our connection with life has our back. Doing what we do in the world from a place of lack and the myth of being less than perfect ... or doing what we do in the world from a place of abundance and being ‘already there’? I know what looks a whole lot more fun to me!
