24.01.2022 Two mornings a week I walk to @bundy.fit for a workout. This mulberry tree is on the way and recently caught my eye as it’s full of fruit. I remember as a kid I’d spend hours in our mulberry tree in the backyard. I’d come down almost entirely purple with a belly full of berries. We also had passion fruit and choko vines along with a paw paw tree. I remember once we were too late picking a giant paw paw and it fell through the fibro eve of the little miners cottage we live ...in, leaving a massive hole and a constant reminder not to let the paw paws get too big. Outside was such an adventure growing up. I lived where Hinkler Central is today. The house backed onto a huge paddock with trees covered in those vines with the purple trumpet shaped flowers. We would spend hours making cubby houses in the trees. Can anyone tell me the name of that vine? It also used to cover the old shed in my grandmother’s backyard. #mulberrytree #tastebundaberg #growingup #pawpaw #bundabergregion
23.01.2022 The November issue of Youth Chronicles is out now. Read about the great things our young people are doing in the Bundaberg region. We have some pretty incredible kids who are doing really amazing things. I loved reading about Ben's journey with Burnett Youth Learning Centre, and the support the students from Kepnock State High School gave to Angels Community Group.... Please share, so everyone can read the positive messages. https://bit.ly/3kTOJ2q

20.01.2022 Why did I choose this photo? Find out at the bottom of the post The Department of Transport & Main Roads are undertaking maintenance works on Kennedy Bridge. They happen often due to the aggressive salt water environment that the steel structure is exposed to. ... These works reduce ongoing maintenance costs and preserve the 122-year-old heritage listed structure. The works are happening Sundays to Thursdays, at night from 8pm - to 5am early morning, until September. The above times are current until 8th July and then I will post an update. I choose this photo as I was looking at it with my 7 year old boy. He was reading the date on the plaque and made comment about Bert Hinkler being a boy when the bridge was built. We had recently read a children's book about Bert so we looked up his birthday and he was 7 when Kennedy Bridge was constructed. The same age as my boy. Gabe was super chuffed!

02.01.2022 I was chatting with a resident recently and she brought to my attention the lack of on street accessibleparking on Crofton Street just outside the medical suites. The officers inspected the adjoining infrastructure for gradient, location, width etc and came up with a spot which was perfect as it only required some new line marking. ... A great outcome for our community members who live and deal with accessibility issues on a daily basis.
