21.01.2022 Looking for a tasty, quick, satisfying lunch or dinner? Try out our simple nacho recipe. You can make this paleo, grain and dairy free and it tastes great for lunch the next day. My kids will often pack a little "nacho pack" for their lunch the next day. Just keep the meat separate for them to add at lunch. https://savvybelly.com.au/2019/05/21/savvy-belly-nachos/

20.01.2022 I will be very interested to see the outcome from this study. I found eliminating dairy to be very helpful in healing my gut and have since been able to eat the occasional cheese and butter. What has been your experience with dairy and your gut health? https://www.3aw.com.au/scientists-investigating-dairys-inf/

20.01.2022 Every wondered what makes Functional Medicine different to a traditional approach? "The goal is to get the body back to its natural balance by embracing a number of supports, like diet, exercise, or alternative or integrative medicine, depending on a patients needs, Bradley says. Traditional medical models often treat symptoms and rely on lab tests and prescription medications. Functional medicine may include these components, but it delves much deeper into the causes and uses a patient-centered approach." https://parade.com//ericaswee/what-is-functional-medicine/

19.01.2022 Before I would describe myself as someone who was angry about the difficulties of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and seeing the situation as a limitation and as a negative experience. After the program I feel much more positive about my life as through our conversations I have picked up the thread of my needs as a person and have realised I am not just a sufferer of this condition. I feel much more focused on having fun and being creative in my life. - Dorinda

19.01.2022 "Our gut health influences everything from our weight, to our mood, to our cognitive ability. It can be the reason for our back pain, the root of our depression, and of course, the cause of our digestive issues. That's why testing the health of our gut and then healing our gut is absolutely essential for improving our mental and physical health." Some interesting strategies here to follow! Have you tried any of these? What worked for you? https://www.psychologytoday.com//heal-the-gut-17-gut-heali

16.01.2022 My client, we will call her Jane* is a university lecturer, wife and mother to a teenage daughter. She also has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). For the last 10 years she has had to meticulously plan her travel route to work, around where the available toilet stops were. Jane* has suffered severe and uncontrollable diarrhea every morning. Imagine, after the exhaustion of dealing with the anxiety and discomfort, pain even, the humiliation if you dont make it, to then have... to face a class of students and not know if that was it for the day. Was there more on its way? Would she get that familiar discomfort in the abdomen that would indicate an urgent bowel movement was needed? Could she relax with her colleagues between classes or would she need to spend that time in the restroom? Her life was completely taken over by her condition. That is what Janes* life was like before she came to work with me. After just 4 sessions, her life was very different. Janes* story has a happy ending. She had remarkable results with the Savvy Belly program. Jane* went from being a negative person who could only see challenges and difficulties to feeling positive and enthusiastic about life and seeing possibilities and opportunity everywhere she looked. She went from being defined by her condition, to having IBS simply become part of her story. Jane* is more focused on having fun and being creative with her life. Her relationships with her family and friends have improved considerably. When I checked back in with Jane* 6 months later, her health is excellent, she feels in control of her IBS, she is excited and enthusiastic about life and she continues to live her vision, set goals and feel like she is moving forward and growing as a person. If you think you might have a condition, such as IBS, book a free consultation with me today so that you can feel better and get that good gut feeling.

15.01.2022 A story about "Sarah". "Sarah" was finding preparing the evening meal very stressful and was reaching for a bottle of wine before she started to make the process less painful. She was concerned that she was drinking too much and had noticed an impact on her gut health. What was really behind this was "Sarah" found preparing the evening meal, boring, lonely and isolating. She spent most of the day doing things for everyone else and took very little time to do anything that was... just for her. That went beyond her role as a wife and mother. That allowed Sarah to connect with herself and her own needs as a person. "Sarah" loved feeling valued and needed by her family and her family meant the world to her. She needed to find a way to meet both their needs and hers with out that all too familiar guilt that most parents feel. After three sessions working with me, "Sarah" had a better understanding of what was driving her behaviour and had a clear process for building some new habits that would take her closer to how she wanted the evening meal preparation to work. She enlisted the families help in the preparation process and used it as an opportunity to catch up on their days one to one with them and she set some goals around when she would enjoy a glass of wine without guilt. Checking in with "Sarah" 12 months later and the new habits she built are well established and the evening meal for the most part is a highlight of her day. We don't just work with people living with a chronic illness. If you are ready to make a change and get that good gut feeling, book a free 30 minute session with Savvy Belly today. https://savvy-belly.as.me/freeconsultation

08.01.2022 Are you aware of the role the health of your gut plays in your overall mental wellbeing? There is a growing body of research looking at the link between the gut and mental health. But it can seem a bit chicken and egg. Which comes first, health gut = healthy mind or healthy mind = healthy gut.
