23.01.2022 A loop we like to see - if waiting on a platform remember to stand behind the yellow line. Also, if you’re wearing a backpack, make sure it’s not hanging over the yellow line if facing the other way. Stop, think and repeat!
23.01.2022 TrackSAFE Foundation has welcomed news from Transport for NSW, Andrew Constance committing $4.5 million for new fencing across 2.3kms of the NSW rail corridor by the end of 2021. Tragically, 16 people lost their lives on the NSW rail network last year. There were also 155 near misses and 54 people injured from trespassing or entering the Sydney Trains rail corridor. Reducing accessibility to train lines through the installation of fences and other physical barriers is known... to be a successful method of reducing trespass and self-harm incidents. TrackSAFE Foundation Executive Director Heather Neil joined Sydney Trains Acting Chief Executive Pete Church and Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance at the Rail Operations Centre in Sydney for today's announcement. #railsafety #safetyfirst #towardszero #transport #construction #sydney #tracksafe

22.01.2022 A reminder to motorists approaching a level crossing to always look and listen out for trains. There is no excuse for ignoring level crossing signals; when the lights start flashing, you STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! THINK! It’s that easy to be safe.

17.01.2022 Day Two of Rail Safety Week and today representatives from Tracksafe and Australasian Railway Association (ARA) attended a rail safety exercise hosted by Canberra Metro Operations, Transport Canberra and City Services, ACT Policing, and ACT Emergency Services Agency. Speaking at the event national rail safety ambassador Vanessa Low highlighted the importance of activities such as these to prepare emergency services and also as a reminder to the general public about the importance of being safe around the light rail network.
17.01.2022 The train line itself isn't dangerous, it's the motorists ignoring level crossing signs and signals making things dangerous. The much-loved steam train Puffing Billy has been involved in 26 near hits at level crossings in just 12 months in the Dandenong Ranges. A reminder that trains always have right of way; pay attention to signals at level crossings and wait for the train to safely pass. Puffing Billy Railway

14.01.2022 Remember that train doors aren’t like elevator doors, they don’t always spring open when interrupted upon closing. Always stand clear of doors closing and catch the next train if it’s too late to board. When waiting, stand behind the yellow line.Be safe, not sorry.

12.01.2022 WA's Transport Minister Rita Saffioti MLA introduced the Government Railways Amendment Bill 2019 to State Parliament yesterday to increase fines for trespass offenders on the tracks from $200 to a maximum of $5000. A great move - engaging in such risky behaviour as trespass and train surfing can result in serious injury or death. Not only this, these dangerous activities can cause trauma for those who witness such events, including train drivers, rail staff and community member. https://tracksafefoundation.com.au//tracksafe-applauds-in/

04.01.2022 Today is national Walk to Work Day - walking is a great, healthy activity to improve your overall well-being. Unfortunately, some walkers take unnecessary risks near the railways and shortcuts. When crossing tracks remember to look both ways before crossing. Always cross at designated crossing areas, and ensure there is plenty of time to safely get to the other side. #railsafety
