22.01.2022 What did we talk about? Interestingly, we had only seen each other about two times in 10 years or so. So whilst we don't really know the in's and outs of each others lives we NEVER ran out of conversation. George is the queen of hypothetical questions... and yes we are still great mates!!!... If we were attacked what is our game plan? What would you do if you won tattslotto? What is your dream job? What is your favourite animal? If you could be any animal what would it be? Do you prefer the bush or the beach? If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? If you could only have one last meal what would it be? If you could eat anything right now what would it be? And of course these were repeated about 5 times a day... Where is that smell coming from? How far do you reckon we have walked? What should we have for dinner? What sort of feather is that? Ooh i think thats got too much guts on it for my hat? Do you reckon? My gut hurts, my feet hurt, is your knee better? How much further? And No seriously, if someone pulled over right now to kidnap us what would we do? Head for the bush, split up and run like the wind.. Only let them get one of us and the other wait for help.. good plan. yep good plan...

18.01.2022 Walkers feet finally gone... Before and after shots.. Swelling and blisters have gone and nail polish on to hide the bruised nails. The pedicurist didn't know what she was in for. #alicetosea #pedicure #fundraiser #awareness #mercyhospital

17.01.2022 $55k raised and 2 days to go... Since starting Alice to Sea we have been privileged to hear many personal stories from families affected by our cause. We have shared many of these on social media but kept some private too. A big thank you to all the families who shared their stories of loss, hope and happiness. We used each and every one of these as motivation on our 1720km adventure. ... A big thanks also to everyone who has donated. We have now raised $55k which is simply amazing. We want to reassure you all that we are passionate about the cause and will work closely with the team at Mercy Hospital for Women and Mercy Perinatal to put every cent to good use with the ultimate goal of getting more Mums and babies home safely. Every baby counts and FIVE babies lost a day is five too many. Let's help reduce these frightening stats. 2 days left to donate so please do so here https://www.gofundme.com/alicetosea

14.01.2022 That's a wrap... Thank you so much to everyone - we could not be more thankful. $55k raised for Mercy Hospital NICU/SCN and Mercy Perinatal to ensure more Mum's and their babies make it home safely. Until Simpson to Sea 2019 - who is in?

14.01.2022 Flashback to the NT/WA border on the Tanami and no this video is not slowed down. This is how windy and dusty it truly was. We knew it would be windy but not this windy!! Friday fact: this was a fake border with tourist signs. The true border was a couple of kms down the road and correctly marked with the long/latitude reference points.

14.01.2022 Four important questions answered and 4 days left to donate. Favourite moment: The feeling of complete freedom leaving Alice Springs. The excitement and anticipation of the unknown and the adventure ahead.. Hardest moment: We both had our own personal moments. Aside from those the hardest times were when we would think we'd walked 40-45kms and we'd look to see it was only about 30kms. That happened more often than you would think. ... Worst moments: The feeling of severe dehydration causing nausea and not being able to keep anything down. We knew we had to fuel our body but we just didn't want to. Happiest moment: The 3km bush bash to the beach at the end. We were hating the main road and made a beeline for the direction of the water not knowing what was ahead. Alone in what seemed to be untravelled bush.. We knew we were heading in the right direction but we had no idea how far it was or how long it would take us. The bush was thick (snake territory) and up to our thighs. We were completely alone deep in the bush, we reflected on how far we had come and it was awesome. Then there was the perfect moment when the bush cleared into sand dunes and we finally saw the crystal blue water. We sat on the dunes and looked at the water for about half hour before walking down the beach to meet our family and new friends that had come to meet us for a well earned swim... We ran fully clothed into the water and IT FELT AMAZING!!!! 4 days left to donate at https://www.gofundme.com/alicetosea - we are almost at $470 off $55k... Photos from the first and last day!!

14.01.2022 How many calories did we burn? On average we were active for 8 - 10 hours per day and we burnt approx 63,872 calories (probably more as there were a few times the Garmin stopped) in 32 days.. George consumed about 40 mars bars and put on 4kgs. Hollie ate substantially less mars bars opting for snickers and lost weight!! ... #tanamispread v #tanamishred

11.01.2022 Second time lucky for Maggie at the driving range...

10.01.2022 A video message from Maggie while George was away - what a legend!!

10.01.2022 It was a full moon last night! This is a flashback to a sunset at Willare Bridge Roadhouse on the Fitzroy River just short of Broome. Without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip was seeing every sunset and every sunrise! The clouds were reflecting on the water and it was magnificent - see Australia! #nofilter

07.01.2022 Do you remember baby Lenny? We first introduced him and his amazing Mum Annie on Day 23 when we were in Fitzroy Crossing. He was born in May (at 25 weeks) and has been in the Mercy Hospital NICU/SCN for 83 days and has about 3-4 weeks until he will finally go home. Thanks to the generosity of our followers Alice to Sea has successfully raised almost $55k. This money will go a long way to helping Mercy Health and Mercy Perinatal continue their hard work in supporting familie...s like Lenny's. It will also provide much needed research to further their goal to ensure more Mums and their babies make it home safely. Only a few more days to donate: Head to https://www.gofundme.com/alicetosea and donate today.. Thanks so much to Annie for allowing us to share these precious photos of Lenny. What an inspirational effort by Lenny and his family..

01.01.2022 Battle scars you ask? Yes we were smiling but it doesn't mean we were not hurting. We were sore every single day. Sitting down at the end of the day was a welcome relief followed by a world of pain when we stood again. We had blisters (Barry and his friends), sore knees, cramping muscles beyond your imagination, blistered lips from the wind, swollen limbs from fluid retention and bruised toe nails and feet. ... By Day 4 we were both so dehydrated we could barely keep food down. We quickly learnt we had to increase our water intake, this became a task in itself. We were consuming huge amounts of food and water (10L plus each per day)! Most of our afternoons were taken up with preparing for the next day. We would soak our feet, tend to blisters and tape our feet. Fortunately, we have both come away without any long term injuries. Believe it or not we are still experiencing night cramps. Some photos for those keen for a look.

01.01.2022 Training run with my best mate Clancy - pity he can't keep up but not bad for almost 11 years old.
