25.01.2022 I fallen into the trap of the I have no time excuse. When really, I just didn’t want to do the work and Really wanted to watch TV. Things really started moving forward in my life and business when I capped my TV time to just 1 hour a day and promised myself 1 hour per day to move my projects forward. In order to live a life Most Tradies dream about, you must do what most Tradie's won't.... And that means things like: - Learning new things - Investing in yourself - Cutting down on TV - Working on your business - Doing things that initially feel uncomfortable - Cutting down on drinking after work If there is one thing I've learnt in life and in business it's this... you must sacrifice immediate gratification in order to have a greater future. And the sacrifices you make now pay off BIG TIME in the future.

22.01.2022 Chances are you're going to lose 7/10 of your quotes. Don't worry about the jobs you lose. You can't win them all. And if you are winning them all, it's time to raise your prices.... It's more profitable to win 3/10 jobs at a 30% margin then it is to win 5/10 jobs with a 15% margin.

22.01.2022 I’ve sold over $3 Million of dollars of high-end Home Improvement Services, and performed thousands of face-to-face quotes all over Perth. And in my 15 plus years of being a Tradie, working on the tools and doing quotes, I've learnt ONE main thing that separated the Tradie's that are doing well and the Tradie's who are struggling. And it's this...... The successful guys know how to GET the work. The guys who are struggling only know how to DO the work. And because the Tradie's who are struggling don't know how to get work, they are trapped in a constant state of desperation and fear. They fear they won't have work next month They fear the economy going bad They fear if they don't drop their price to gain work, they'll miss out on the job and they won't be able to pay the bills They fear if they hire guys they will mess up the work or they will run out of work So they work harder, trying to make up for the loss in profit, which eventually burns them out and stops them from moving forward in business and in life. There are 3 steps to stop scraping by and escape the "Tradie Trap". 1. Attract a steady steam of new leads so you can pick and choose jobs. 2. Raise your prices and win quotes by gaining an advantage over your competition. 3. Contract or hire out the majority of the actual labour. And you can do all this by implementing a proven business operating system for Home Improvement Businesses which contain 3 things: 1. Proven Marketing & Advertising methods that brings in high quality leads. 2. An ethical step-by-step sales system that wins quotes at higher prices. 3. A recruiting, hiring and management process that allows you to hire people to perform the work. 18.01.2022 There’s a vicious cycle Tradie’s in the Home Improvement Industry get stuck in called: The Tradie Trap And it goes a little something like this:... You’re doing the work... You’re got just enough work to keep ticking over You want more work, so you start paying for leads or slashing your prices. Now you have to more work, but then you have to hire guys, You want to hire guys and get more work. But you’re worried if you will have enough work to keep them going And if you can't afford to hire them and still turn a profit You want to change more, but you’re worried if you do you won’t get the job. You can’t risk loosing a job because you don’t have enough leads. You don’t have enough leads because you have no sales and marketing systems in place. You have no sales and marketing system in place because you don't know what works and what doesn't and you don't have the time and money to experiment. So you just keep doing the work, just getting by and the vicious cycle continues. Here’s hot to get out of the Tradie Trap. 1. Raise your prices 5-10% immediately. (This won’t affect your win rate) 2. Cut down your work load by 5-10% immediately or give up some TV time. 3. Invest 1 hour every day into learning sales and marketing techniques. 4. Start getting more new quotes/leads using marketing. 5. Implement a proven sales system to win those new quotes at higher prices. 6. Hire an A-Team to do some of the work to free up your time. 7. Use your extra time to transition off the tools, win even more new jobs at high prices and hire more help to do all of the manual work. BOOM - Now you’re off the tools, working part-time and making great money. This is exactly how I did it, am still doing it and how you can too. You’re got just enough work to keep ticking over You would like to get more work and charge higher prices.. But you’re on the tools and can only do so many quotes and take on so much work You want to hire guys and get more work But you’re worried if you will have enough work to keep them going And if you can afford to hire them and still turn a profit You want to charge higher prices.. But you’re worried if you do, you won’t get the job You can’t risk loosing a job because you don’t have enough leads So you quote cheap on jobs and do it yourself You work harder to get ahead And you do get ahead.. But you’re now burnt out and hate your work.. So you slow down and even out again. and the vicious cycle continues Here’s how I got out of the Tradie Trap and how you can too: 1. Know what you want to earn and how much you want to work. 2. Raise your prices 5-10% immediately. (This won’t affect your win rate) 3. Start generating consistent quotes/leads using direct response marketing. 7. Stop seeing homeowners who are wasting your time and looking for the cheapest quote. 8. Implement a proven sales system to win more quotes at higher prices. 9. Hire an A-Team to do most of the work to free up your time. 10. Use your extra time to transition off the tools, win even more new jobs at high prices and hire more help to do all of the manual work. 05.01.2022 In 2016 I was forced to start over again and fell back into my trade as a plasterer. I had to start over again from scratch. I sold my beloved dirt bike, race bike and mine and my son’s go karts just to buy tools and an old mixer. I was broke, back on the tools, doing hard labour, working my tail off, coming home filthy and exhausted every day. I tried so many things to get my rendering business working:... - I worked long hours. - I advertised in the local papers - I started paying for leads - I saw all my quotes fast - I gave discounts, I took on more jobs - I hired some guys - I networked Even though I knew how to get leads, nothing seemed be really working. I was still stuck on the tools, burnt out, doing hard work for crap money, always worried about where my next jobs was coming from and not getting anywhere. The big problems were: 1: I was spending so many hours every week with customers who were wasting my time and screwing me down on price. 2: And I didn’t have enough new leads to knock back the jobs I didn’t want. 3: And there just wasn’t not enough profit in the jobs to hire good help, have happy customers and make a healthy profit.
