16.01.2022 Its moments like this. Our whole world is falling apart right before us. Its in these moments that we truly see what we are made of. Instead of seeing unity, ...resilience & hope, we are overwhelmed with people turning to anger, resentment even hatred. We know people are doing everything in their power to keep us safe. To implement changes, restrictions even bans. They make their own invisible sacrifices to ensure the safety of strangers. Your safety. But it wont be enough. It never is. You will always want more. You want someone to blame for this. Its moments like this where greed outshines selflessness. Its moments like this where mistakes far outweigh the victories. Its moments like this where even the smallest negative trumphs the major positive. I know its hard. Its so fucking hard. Its surreal. Some moments I feel my heart breaking. Theres times where I refuse to turn the news on or look at my phone because I fear what comes next. Fifo workers are forced to return to work with no return date. Doctors have never been so vital. Cashiers have gone from considered as a bum job to one of our most vital. Teachers have become the back bone of our country to ensure working families can still feed their families. Daycarers are working & caring for our children as if their own worlds arent falling apart behind them. Truck drivers have never been more eager to meet their destinations. Parents are forced to choose between their jobs & keeping their kids home safe. I bet youve made fun of a cleaner before & now youre relying on them to do their job. Jobs have never been so uncertain. Pressure & anxiety have hit all time highs. & I know how stressed we all are. BUT, We are all in this together. Its easy to be so blinded by our own struggles, that we ignore others & theirs. We need to become mindful that even at our worst, we need to be hopeful. We need to be thankful. THANK the cashier who has just stood there on their feet for 5 hours straight. THANK the teacher who is putting on a brave face for your children. THANK the cleaner who is following behind you cleaning up after you. THANK the absolute weapon whos been stocking shelves for hours. THANK the small business owners who have donated to your raffles & local charities & now need the favor returned. THANK the politicians who have been on the back end of non stop critism yet still front every single fucking day. THANK the centrelink employees who are trying to help you even though they have their own issues. THANK the shop retail workers who still front to work even though theyre scared. THANK the doctors & nurses for their indescribable help. THANK every single fucking person who is chosing to do the right thing. & remember, COVID -19 is the real enemy, not each other. & as soon as you forget that, we all lose
