25.01.2022 Hi folks. Just an update. I went to the meeting at Twin Rivers yesterday to gauge the reaction of the members with regard to when they will start up again. You may ask, why am I following their lead on when to suggest to the committee to open Traditional Old again. Some of our band members are also members of Twin Rivers so their opinion is important. Some of our audience are also members of Twin Rivers and their opinion is important. Therefore I think their opinion is relev...ant. Their meeting was very constructive and informative and enabled me to go to our committee with suggestions. TR has decided ( with the borders open ) that there is still a possible big risk to their members and is holding another meeting in September. I will take this information to our executive committee and will inform you all about our decision. Hope you are all keeping safe and healthy. 25.01.2022 How are you folks. Just an update to let you know where we are at with regard to starting up again. The Gumdale Hall Association has put out their current protocols and it states that at the moment we can only have 20 people in the hall. That included the stage. they have hand sanitizer and are cleaning the hall and amenities every weekday. The Glenora Grove is starting up in August but I'm not sure if they have their own hall. Twin Rivers is holding a meeting on Saturday 11th to discuss when they will open. I and a few others will attend this meeting to get more information. We hope everyone is in good health at the moment and can't wait to catch up. Cheers Friends.

20.01.2022 A fantastic day was had at our Social on Sunday. It was the Club's 36th Birthday and still going strong. Everyone enjoyed Yvonne's Cake. We had our AGM before the music started and we filled all positions so the club can function for the next 12 months. Positions are as follows : President. Christine Simpson. Vice President. John Reike. Junior Vice President. Dale Williams. Secretary / Treasurer. Neil Kennedy.... Publicity Officer. Neil Kennedy. These positions fill our Executive Committee according to our constitution. 20.01.2022 It is with sadness that we are informing club members that Faye Jorgensen has passed away. We don't have any details yet about funeral arrangements, but we will update you as we find out. Our condolences go out to Kevin and his family.

20.01.2022 Microphone covers will be required for the social. Or your own good quality misc. Some Covers will be available for purchase at $2 each.

19.01.2022 Howdy Folks. I hope this post finds you all well and safe. We are looking at starting up on the third Sunday in January, but the main thing it depends on is how... many volunteers we get. With the covid restrictions, we will need someone to serve tea and coffee from the kitchen and someone to adjust Mics in Dale's absence. Someone to sell lucky squares and look after sales of softdrinks and chips. If you feel you can help out with these jobs please Let me know. These tasks are necessary for the club to start up. I will be doing the door in Daphne's absence and we have secured the services of Garry McGrath to do the sound as Peter is going to relax and enjoy his singing after six hard years as President. 19.01.2022 We have received details about Faye Jorgensen's funeral arrangements. It will be held at the Mount Gravatt Cemetary on Tuesday 11th of this month at 2pm. It will be a gravesite ceremony in section 2. There will be a small wake afterwards. Traditional Old will send a wreath on behalf of our members. Due to COVID, there will be a restricted number of attendees allowed. Kevin has asked for prayers to assist him at this time. He also asked that we play one of Faye's favorite songs when we start up again.

17.01.2022 Howdy folks. Just an update regarding club starting up. I have had discussions with our executive committee and it was decided, Yes we will follow TR,s lead. Although their hall is bigger than ours, the basic precautions still apply. We will visit the question again in September. 16.01.2022 Howdy peoples. The committee has discussed the startup of our club and it has been decided ( In line with the easing of restrictions ) that we will start again in July. So practice will be on Wednesday the 15th of July and the Social will be held on the 19th of July. This is subject to whether the virus creates a problem again. But we'll see how we go. There will still be a couple of provisions. We will have a temperature test at the door. If you have a high temp you will pro...bably be asked not to come in, and we hope you will understand. We may have to look at keeping a distance between chairs. If this is the case we may have to put afternoon tea tables in a different position. If you could bring some hand sanitizer along that would be appreciated. The Sanitizer I bought leaves your hands sticky. Peter and Daphne may not be able to attend because of their health and we respect their decision. But we shall see how we go. 16.01.2022 Good Day friends. Hope you are all coping in this COVID world. I know there are a few of us that are not as well as could be at the moment, so we hope you come out at the end of this okay. A couple of Country Music Clubs are planning to start up again soon with strict sanitation rules in place. It will be interesting to see how they go. I hope they succeed. Traditional Old will be waiting a while longer before we open. All halls are different and have different requirements. I'm sure you agree that it will be fantastic when we are able to get together. The committee talks frequently and agree that we need to hang off for safety's sake. I've noticed a lot of new names are liking our facebook page. I hope you will come along and join us when we are open again. We are a happy bunch. Good music, good singers. Variety of instruments.

16.01.2022 Hi folks. I hope you are all okay. This virus is still creating problems. Even though it is contained in Queensland at the moment and restrictions are easing, it still has the potential to be a problem. With that in mind, I have decided to make a CAPTAINS CALL and not go ahead with the opening of our club in July. Even Practice. I hope everyone understands that it is just too much of a risk. It may be a few more months yet. I certainly would not like any of our members to catch this destructive virus. PS. For those who will respond by saying it should be an executive committee decision, I am sure that Dale, Christine and Daphne would agree with my decision. Wishing you all good health Neil

14.01.2022 Hi Folks. Just letting everyone know that Daphne had a fall yesterday and broke her knee cap and other damage to both knees. She has on a brace. Wish her well if you are able please as she has been through a lot these past months.

09.01.2022 I Just got in touch with the Cemetary and they informed me that there are no limits of attendees at a gravesite ceremony as long as social distancing is adhered to. Although the wake afterwards may only be a small family affair.

08.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we inform members that John Marsden has passed away after a long battle with illness. John will be remembered by many as a lovely bloke, good singer and a fantastic musician. John was a long time member of Twin Rivers Country Music Club and has sung and played at our club on many occasions. Our condolences go out to Margaret and family. When you think of John you can't help but remember him with fondness. He will be missed greatly.

08.01.2022 Howdy Folks. I got in contact with the Gumdale hall to book in our dates for July because they were opening the hall on the 10th of July. I was informed that I will have to tell them roughly how many people we would expect on those dates. We may still not be able to have our social in July. This will depend on their calculation of how many people they will allow in the hall at any one time with social distancing regulations. We will have to wait and see. I will keep you all informed. Please pass this on.

08.01.2022 Hi Folks, remember to ring to book for our social on Sunday the15th. Still only fifty allowed. Social distancing applies. Also, we will hold our AGM before the music starts. If you would like to volunteer for a position, even though we asked for nominations it is not to late on the day. If you are willing to give a hand by storing/bringing Tea / Coffee/ biscuits and milk and purchasing new supplies when required we would be grateful. You will be reimbursed for the cost. Same with the chips, softdrinks and water, we would be very grateful. We are also looking for someone to do the door. Please give it some thought. Also, It is the club's birthday this month, but nothing is planned. Last year Yvonne baked a birthday cake but this year she is not well. Hope to see you at the social. Cheers Neil.

07.01.2022 Hi Folks. Don't forget to register for this Sunday's Social. If you can, please bring your own cup. Also, don't forget we have our AGM meeting before the music starts. Unfortunately, we no longer have a nomination for President, due to sickness. I ( Neil ) have to take up the position of Treasurer / Secretary as our long-time serving member cannot continue due to ill health and there is no one to fill this role.
