Located in Latrobe City, Morwell River Falls are a set of waterfalls that lie in the upper reaches of the river near the township of Boolarra. Tucked away just out of Boolarra, it is a place of peace; its remote location and dense bushland is part of its charm. A walking trail takes you from the carpark past a series of stunning cascades in the upper reaches of the Morwell River in this oasis of native bush. 21.01.2022 Saved the best for last Genuine 1m of Victorias finest Lake Tyers swimbait crushing swamp crocodile Been a long hard earned fish this one. Many have come clo...se, or had been unofficially measured, but can now officially say I'm in the meter flatty club, video in comments When it hit I wasn't sure what happened as it felt like a snag as these monster sized fish do, then the slow brutal headshakes began followed by a screaming run. A familar feeling that very often ends in a bust off, bent hooks or lures flung through the air. When I saw it for the first time rise up in the gloomy water, I knew it was the one I was after from the massive size of it's head - then the pressure was really on to do it all right. After a 30 minute battle, taking me through some weeds, with my heart in my throat the whole time, we finally nervously banked her First order of buisness was to get a tape on it, measured it many times to be sure but I'd definitely cracked the meter mark, (maybe a fraction over but who's counting ) Got some happy snaps and sent the big girl on her way healthy as back into the darkness. Big thanks to Daniel for helping me land her. Had a very interesting pattern towards the tail was near patternless and very yellow, a great starry looking fish that had been sitting amongst shell beds It's been a crazy few days for me, smashing 3 PBs, definitely making up for lost time during covid lockdown. Very glad to be unleashed again and makes me feel better about not being on a FNQ Giant Trevally trip I was meant to be doing this week but couldn't do due to restrictions What's next?

The Trinculo met its fate in 1879 when it was run asho...re during gale force winds. 15.01.2022 We recently visited the Morwell River Falls in The Strzelecki Ranges near Boolara. The falls are easily accessed with a 10-minute walk from the car park. There... is a loop track that takes you past the major waterfall pictured above and then down the riverbank where you will see some smaller waterfalls and amazing scenery. The scenery on the drive-in and out was amazing with some great spots for photos and picnics. So, round up the family and take a journey to this little train station that is every bit as delightful as youd hope a station from the early 1900s might be. The Walhalla Goldfields Railway runs on select days between Walhalla and Thomson stations please check with them first. The restful journey takes you through the surrounding forest, alongside the cheerfully ambling Stringers Creek, over trestle bridges and the impressive Thomson River Bridge! As you may know, the inaugural event was... supposed to be held in 2020 to help attract visitors back to the region after the bushfires, but that obviously didn't happen. But we're finally here and as mentioned earlier, the opening weekend is jam packed full of great events! 07.01.2022 Billy Goat Bend is in the Mitchel River National Park out the back of Briagolong. Billy Goat Bend is best accessed off the Drago Road turning at the Den of Narg...un sign. There is a good day area and free camping sites at Billy Goat Bend. Bush Walking options to nearby areas start and finish here. The view is monumental of the Mitchel River below. The track into the site is gravel and bumpy in parts but can be done in a normal car. This is one of #Gippsland's best kept secrets

05.01.2022 Yesterday we finally got down to visit the Long Jetty at Port Welshpool. It is such a great asset to #Gippsland, there were families fishing, people taking walk...s, enjoying the best of Gippsland. The Long Jetty was originally built in 1930s and has a long history as goods jetty, support for ships during the war and loading dock for bass straight oil rigs. After suffering fire damage in the early 2000s it has been restored to its former glory. At 850 meters long it is a nice walk. make sure you take the time to read the history of the jetty before you head out on it, it makes for an interesting read.
