22.01.2022 Did you know Holden built pedal cars? Yes that's right Holden pedal cars, it seems long before you drove the FX came the first series Holden, a pedal car! Before the war G.M. was on the verge of creating a fully fledged local manufacturing operation, however, the war intervened and by 1940 with the fall of Paris, local automotive manufacturing was deemed irrelevant, so for next few years the company joined the war effort like most of Australia's industries to meet Australia's defence needs. Making up for wartime austerity G.M. then produced their first post-war toys, and yes that included a pedal car. Have a look at an original Holden pedal car, on display at the Trafalgar Holden Museum next time you visit.

20.01.2022 Our visitors say it all! Full of history. Great customer service! We stumbled across this museum coming home. My husband who is a massive Holden enthusiast was thrilled to be here. We were greeted by friendly staff, Jake and Bill. Bill gave us a private tour enlightened us with his wealth of Holden knowledge.... We had an incredible experience. Excited to be back to see further development of the museum. Adam and Mel Great Day out..Who knew Holden was more than Cars!!! Sensational visit to the Holden Museum in Trafalgar, my husband an enthusiast, I went along for the ride...We were welcomed with open arms, a personalised tour with ‘young’ Jake and the knowledge and history imparted fantastic. Who knew Holden was more than Cars.. Leather Goods, Boats, Racing, our beloved Australian Transport. Please support these guys, they are preserving history and doing a fantastic job....a great day out, support our rural communities! Ron T This is an absolutely fantastic museum, with super friendly staff, and an awesome display of old and new Holden's and accessories, my son and I had a great time looking over all the displays 10/10 Prasanna M Great collection of Holden cars This is a place that we visited in December. I wanted my brother to see this collection. This time we found more interesting material. They had a tram with GM engine and also an Old boat with a Holden engine. Great place to visit if you are heading to Gippsland. Great team of volunteers too. NQg1rl Very surprising This museum is a short walk from my daughter’s house yet we had never visited so we went along on my grandson’s 3rd birthday. It is not the most inviting looking building, tucked behind the railway station in this small country town. I expected a handful of old Holden's and little else. Well, there are rows and rows of immaculately restored cars. Old cars from the era when Holden provided the bodywork for Buicks and the like, right up to the last Holden made. The staff were knowledgable and I intend to go back next time I am in Australia. Enough said. Visit us next time you are in the area THM
19.01.2022 It is with great disappointment that at yesterdays committee meeting we agreed to cancel this years Route 69 event. The ongoing COVID-19 situation and the uncertainty of restrictions being lifted have unfortunately led to this decision. We hope to be able to have an alternate event in 2021 when restrictions have lifted and it is more viable for people to attend.
19.01.2022 Not the car we had on display at the Museum. That car is still retained by GM and on display at the National Motor Museum in Adelaide.
19.01.2022 A farmer transporting Chickens on a Saturday and off to church on a Sunday, the origins of Australia's very own ute have been celebrated. 09.01.2022 Iconic Holden Set to Exceed $1 Million A 1977 Holden LX Torana driven by renowned race car driver John Harvey during the 1977 79 Australian Touring Car Championship is up for auction this Saturday. Arguably one of the most important pieces of Australian Motor Racing History to go under the hammer in some time, this car is presented in the correct HTD Marlboro livery bearing #76 and running as good as the old days thundering around the tracks, said Mr. Hames, Chief Operati...ons Officer for Lloyds Auctions. The 1977 Holden LX Torana was published online a few weeks ago with Lloyds confirming both national and international enquiry has been very strong, with current bidding online already pushing $700,000 with 3 days to go until auction day on Saturday. Who knows what this car could end up selling for, I wouldn’t be surprised if it sells for $2 million, continued Mr. Hames. The significance and provenance of this car is paramount to Australian history and is something that is very special and extremely rare, there is no other like this car, it is 1 of 1 driven by legendary race car driver John Harvey, said Mr. Hames. The Torana was the most successful Australian Touring Car ever to be released by GMH, its achievements in the 1978 season have been unmatched or unrivaled by any other Australian Motor Car. It created history as the first truly homologated car built purposely for motor racing and being the most successful by far. This car includes a multitude of racing equipment including the spare tyres required for racing, John Harveys, worn jacket, boots, helmet, trophies, racing records and a huge array of other memorabilia items. The current custodian of the vehicle purchased the car in 2002 and has had an association with John Harvey since 1999. John was kind enough to provide the racing history to the best of his knowledge. Bidding for this race car along with many other iconic classics is open now at www.lloydsauctions.com.au with the auction ending this Saturday from 7pm AEDT time.

08.01.2022 No. 1 HOLDEN - MG.501 - Number Plates For Sale the very first registration no. fitted to the very first Holden off the Production Line in Melbourne at Fishermen...s Bend. I have owned this registration no. for over 20 years. I purchased them back when we were restoring the No. 1 Holden Prototype. MG.501 - Victorian Reg. was fitted to No, 1 Holden Pilot Car, Gawler Cream, 48-215 on 19th October 1948. This vehicle was used for all the media and publicity, it was given to the then Managing Director of General Motors Holden, Mr. Harold Bettle. In fact, history shows that this car and these plates were the very first Holden to be stolen. Holden still own this car today. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the rarest Holden number plate. These plates come with Vic. Roads rights to use on your car.
