02.01.2022 Border Checkpoint Update On Saturday 5 September 2020, modifications will be put in place at the Wodonga Place - Albury checkpoint. Updates will commence from 7.45am this Saturday, it is recommended to use the Hume Freeway Southbound to avoid delays. NSW Local diversions will be put in place for traffic travelling South from Albury to divert one block only from Wodonga Place into Ebden Street, Townsend Street and Nurigong Street, back onto the Wodonga Causeway. Police wo...uld also like to encourage motorists to consider using the Hume Freeway if they are travelling South as an alternate option. During peak periods for vehicles travelling North into Albury at the Border checkpoint, an additional lane will be created to increase the traffic flow through the check points. The third lane will commence at Lemke Road just South of the Murray river crossing. Drivers should be aware of the reduced speed limits, diversion signs and traffic controllers. This decision has been made in consultation with the local community and various stakeholders to reduce processing times for those travelling between Victoria and NSW.
