23.01.2022 "Hello Trailer Plans I have almost finished my 6 meter enclosed trailer. All that remains to be done is to line the internal walls with 3-ply wood. I changed a couple of things from your original plans. I lowered the trailer by 100mm using drop axles that I made up and created larger side and rear doors. The rear door has dual stage fold in/out load ramps that make life really easy. There are winches on both sides of the rear door that do all the hard work raising and low...ering the door. I used 3mm ACM panels to line the sides and 4mm for roof and rear door. Next time I would use 2440x1220x4mm on sides and measure post out for 1220mm centres. All part of learning. I had also changed the front section of the trailer, angled both sides inward and increase the roof angle to reduce wind load whilst towing. Your plans made the job simple and produced a great trailer for very little cost compare to buying a trailer readymade. Kind regards Jason" Thanks for the great pictures Jason. 19.01.2022 WELDING Although you do not have to be an expert welder to build a trailer, you will need to be able to apply strong welding with good penetration. If you doubt your ability to make a secure weld, seek some advice from a handy mate or consult some on-line resources. Practice on some scrap off-cuts preferably the same material size/thickness you will be building the trailer with. Test your practice welds by trying to break them apart. The drawings supplied with our plans us...e ISO welding symbols to indicate the recommended weld location, size & length of weld. The symbols are to be used as a guide only. Generally, it is advised to fully weld chassis joints. Body panels can be stitch welded. If in doubt, apply extra welds. 06.01.2022 We received these pictures from Rob in New Zealand of his race car trailer built from our 2200kg Single Axle Flatbed Trailer Plans. It’s a fantastic looking trailer, well-built and neatly executed. The trailer chassis has been hot dipped galvanised and the cover sheets are aluminium chequer plate. Electrical wiring and brake lines are neatly routed inside the channel sections and a hand winch has been mounted up front. Excellent job Rob. 04.01.2022 Cory and some of the guys on the station put this awesome tri-axle sheep trailer together using our 6m Flat Top Trailer Plans. Largely built to plan, they of course added the sheep cage, which we’re told is easily removable to use as a flat tray only. They also fitted it with 6T suspension so that we could move heavy stuff around. Cory also said the trailer tows fantastic. Love your work guys. 02.01.2022 We received these photos from Julian who built a fabulous 2.5T flatbed tilt trailer and finished it like a pro. Although Julian generally stuck to the original plan, he did make a few changes to suit his needs. '"Thank you Deon. I am glad to have spent the extra time to build my own trailer as it is (built) to what I want and I know its strength instead of buying a production type trailer. I like your plans, they are very detailed and informative. Keep up the good work." Jul...ian said when he finally got around to it, he used our basic 2500 flatbed tilt trailer plans but made some modifications to suit his needs. The trailer was built slightly wider at 1950mm and a little shorter in length at 3900mm. He made the ramps thicker using 65x35x3 RHS, 1050 long and also put a 3 tonne load sharing roller suspension under it. Furthermore he placed a 12V electric winch on the front but other than that he followed the plans down to the letter. We particularly liked the enclosed ramp storage areas, heavy tie-down rails, tapered top rails and electric winch. But most of all we like Julians shed. What a great place to build a great trailer. 01.01.2022 Our 4m Enclosed Motorbike Trailer is a great design packed with excellent features and has become quite popular amongst trailer builders. However, trailer builder Travis took things to the next level with this excellent build. He extended the length slightly and added a second axle with 4WD sized wheels and tyres. The exterior has been very well finished with gloss black panels, aluminium trim all round, as well as left and right hand side doors. Rear tail lights are attracti...vely flush mounted and the drawbar has been cleverly covered with aluminium chequer plate, providing a handy platform providing access to the front boot. However, its on the inside that he really cranked things up. Chequer plate floor, wheel box covers and front panel gives the interior a tough durable look. A sound system has been neatly installed in the front dash and strip LED lighting runs the full length of the roof great equipment to have when you need to do some trail-side repairs or servicing. 01.01.2022 We received some pictures from Tim who built this awesome 6m flat top trailer from our plans. He upgraded the suspension and coupling to 4.5T and completed the deck with steel checker plate. Tim fitted some pretty tough looking tie-down rails complete with custom laser-cut tabs including the company logo. We particularly like his checker plate mudguards and the truck-style spare wheel carrier. Just brilliant. Tim said The drawings are really easy to follow.
