20.01.2022 Happy Tuesday lovely people It’s been so warm in Melbourne lately which makes provides the perfect opportunity to talk about warm ups. Excuse the dad joke Warming up before you train is absolutely not negotiable. As the name implies, a warm up literally raises our bodies internal temperature and primes our bodies for exercise. The most effective warm ups combine mobility and muscle activation to ensure the muscles we are about to train activate properly and move flu...idly through the desired range of motion. The warm up you see here is great for a push work out, hitting your chest, shoulders and triceps in the one circuit! Start with 1 lateral raise into 1 push up, then 2 lateral raises into 2 push ups, then 3 and so on, all the way to 10. It doesn’t matter what kind of training you’re doing, if you’re training in the gym, at home, with or without equipment; warming up properly is essential

20.01.2022 Okay! So we are open as of June 22! But what does this mean? All of our facilities are having to change process and procedure to make sure our facilities are the safest they can be. 1.All of our facilities now have Infrared Temperature readers. Every individual to enter the facility will have the temperature on their forehead read. 2. We will temporarily be restricting access to the water bubblers however the drink taps will still be working so bring a bottle We will also ...be taping off the showers temporarily. 3. Naturally, we are going to be keeping a very close eye on attendance. Our managers will be making sure that capacity is not exceeded and that all members are maintaining safe distances and cleaning each piece of equipment after use. 4. At this stage we are temporarily postponing classes. This will only last a couple of weeks to ensure complete safety for all members and staff. We will reassess and aim to have classes up and running as soon as possible. Keep an eye out on club specific classes as some clubs may begin tapering out classes slowly over the next couple of weeks. There will be more information coming out closer to the 22nd of June. We will have our thermometers, hand sanitizers and disinfectant sprays ready for you to come back!! We've missed you all and can't wait to see your smiley faces again!! #wereback #trainhard #trainingday #letsgetbacktowork #weighttraining #classes #hiit #fullbodyworkouts #boxing #yoga #pilates @ Kew, Victoria

16.01.2022 Finally. Everyone in Melbourne has worked so hard to get our lives back to some kind of normal. We are anticipating from Sunday night that we will be allowed to increase our capacity to 100 patrons and up to 20 in classes at a time. If you’ve been thinking about joining, NOW is... the time. Time to shake off that quarantine 15, come out from the rocks we’ve been living under and get yourself back to the gym. 16.01.2022 EXERCISES FOR FAT LOSS A question that coaches and personal trainers are asked non stop is What are the best exercises for fat loss? With the hopeful easing of restrictions looming in Melbourne, this question has begun to rear its ugly head again. ... The shortest and most simple answer is there are no best exercises for fat loss; in order for our bodies to lose fat we MUST be eating in a caloric deficit A caloric deficit is when someone is eating fewer calories than their body needs to maintain its weight. When this happens, our bodies use the fat it has stored on itself for energy. That is fat loss in a nutshell. When it comes to exercising and fat loss, the more energy we expend, the larger of a deficit we can achieve. It doesn’t matter what exercises you do, as long as you move. That said, if you want to be efficient with your time, heavy compound exercises like squats, bench press or deadlifts are going to tax your body the most in the least amount of time. Similarly, HIIT training is extremely taxing on a person’s cardiovascular and central nervous system. But neither of these will inherently cause you to lose fat unless you’re in a caloric deficit Have you signed the petition to reopen gyms yet?? Gyms are set to be among the last group of businesses to reopen, however with enough people speaking up, that can change. Gyms are a place for our physical and mental wellbeing and are an essential part of many of our lives. Help us open sooner by signing the petition

16.01.2022 Please find the link to petition to open gyms in the bio of our page. Every signature counts! https://www.change.org/p/victorian-state-government-the-and

09.01.2022 Weightlifting belts Whilst not an absolute must for every gym goers gym bag, a weightlifting belt is a perfect lifting accessory for anyone looking to maximise their strength when deadlifting or squatting In order to squat or deadlift safely, the muscles surrounding our spine (abdominals, erectors etc) need to be able to brace our upper body effectively to ensure our spine is stable and protected. ... A weightlifting belt is a fantastic way to practice creating this stability. To optimally shift a heavy load when we squat or deadlift, taking a big breath in and holding it in your stomach will create intro abdominal pressure and will cause your midsection to expand. If you’re wearing a belt and it tightens when you breathe in, that means you’re holding the air in your midsection and if you contract your core muscles in this state, you’ll create enormous tension around your spine, keeping the angle of your back straight and your spine safe from flexion under load

09.01.2022 HOW TO ADHERE TO HEALTHY EATING Everything is feeling much more difficult than usual right now, so I thought I would provide everyone with some tips on how to continue eating in a nutritious way throughout the remainder of lockdown: 1 - Think of ways that you can add extra fruit/veggies into your already established meals. Can you have a serve of spinach and mushrooms with your eggs on toast for breakfast? Can you add some carrot into your pasta sauce for dinner? Can you buy ...extra fruit to eat with lunch? 2 - Don’t write off snacking! If we decide that we aren’t going to have snacks in an attempt to restrict our eating, we will likely overeat later in the day, or after a few days of restriction. Aim to avoid this by having nutritious options nearby that you can snack on. 3 - Choose foods you enjoy! Don’t force yourself to eat foods that you don’t like purely because of a supposed health benefit. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t continue eating it over the long term.
