20.01.2022 30 minutes left to go.

20.01.2022 Subject to Victorian State Government COVID-19 restrictions, requirements and conditions as well as MRC requirements we are planning to move forward to plan and organise the 2021 Train and Hobby Show. What the Train and Hobby Show will be in terms of the way it will operate and function is not fully known as yet and we have COVID-19 officer whose role it is to liase with the relevant Victorian State Government departments and to keep up with requirements to formulate what w...e require and how we will operate. This at present is on going and although we are moving ahead nothing is 100% confirmed at this stage. It is our understanding, based on the current requirements, that requirement will include: Registration of all participants, exhibitors, workers and officials who will need to sign on at the beginning of each day with a name, a tested temperature, a contact phone number, time, date, and a signature to sign that you have no known symptoms of COVID-19. Exhibitors may also be required to do another form midway through the day. All visitors to the show will need to register before entry via QR code or a form. Everyone before entering the venue must sanitise their hands and be wearing a face mask. All tickets may have to be pre-purchased, online for example, and these will be scanned on entry. (Advanced ticket sales are now online) There may be a limit on numbers allowed into the venue. That is yet to be known and we will, if required, have crowd number monitors to keep that in check. There will be sanitiser stations around the venue, face masks may also be available to purchase within the venue. Cleanser, cleaners, will be out more regularly to maintain a safe environment. We are also consulting with government to see whether a vaccination station may be viable and available for the event. We are also looking at having a COVID-19 information and action stand Right now there are a lot of unknowns such as what the requirements and restrictions will be in March 2021 but we will be doing our best to keep people informed, safe and to meet the restrictions and requirements as they become known. Hopefully it will only be about a COVID-19 safe plan, face masks, sanitisers and registrations by March 2021. Out breaks in summer, sunny weather, warm weather and days of higher UV are less likely. This will be updated as information and announcements come to hand, the next major announcement is expected on the 22nd November 2020. Applications are now available for layouts, displays and traders. Advanced ticket sales are also available on line.

13.01.2022 This was posted in another private group so I have cut and paste the text. What is amateur radio? Amateur radio is a popular technical hobby and volunteer public service that uses designated radio frequencies for non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, and emergency communications. Amateur Radio is the only hobby governed by international treaty.... As a radio amateur you are able to transmit radio signals on a number of frequency bands allocated specifically to the radio amateurs. Radio amateurs make use of their frequencies in a number of ways: Contacting people all over the world by radio which often leads to developing international friendships Competing in international competitions to test how effective your equipment is, and how good you are as an operator Technical experimentation many of the leaps forward in radio technology have been initiated by radio amateurs Communication through amateur space satellites or with the International Space Station (which carries an amateur radio station) Providing communications at times of emergencies and undertaking exercises to ensure you keep the capability to do so. There is no better way to explore the fascinating world of radio communications than by becoming a radio amateur. See more
