24.01.2022 UNILATERAL TRAINING BENEFITS// Physio Olivia here A lot of people who come and see me will have a dominant side of the body that they feel stronger and more coordinated using. Is this you? 24.01.2022 CHRONIC PAIN VS ACUTE PAIN// Physio Olivia here with this weeks Blog. Physio’s separate injuries into #acute and #chronic - Let me educate you on the difference between the two. ... ACUTE// A new injury, usually stemming from a specific event/incident with a definable start point. This type of pain can be more intense and irritable, often quite a specific location of pain. CHRONIC// A pain or injury that lasts more than 3 months is considered chronic. A chronic pain/injury can be constant, episodic or reoccurring. Not only does this causes a sustained pain state, causing repeated trauma to the area of concern, it also causes the body to make compensations, meaning there is often multiple contributing factors that now sustain the initial injury. Fast Forward You are now pain free what now Pain free does NOT always mean problem free {read that again} In fact, you’re Physio has likely only addressed the superficial presentation of the problem. To truly and permanently fix the problem we have to go deeper......how deep? {CLICK LINK IN OUR BIO UNDER NEW BLOG TO LEARN MORE} @trained_physioperth @liv.strelein #TrainedPhysioPerth

14.01.2022 STRENGTH & CONDITIONING FOR PHYSIO’S// I have ‘trained’ my entire life and have a strong understand of S&C and Exercise Rehab. My belief systems have always been S&C. Thought out my early career I witnessed first hand the lack of knowledge of S&C within the physiotherapy world ... Before I opened @trained_physioperth I worked for a generic Physio clinic where the main focus was on Pilates (I am not going to get into the whole Physio/Pilates debate so I will leave it there). We have built our business and culture on the philosophy that S&C is a fundamental step in the rehab process Taking clients past the basic symptom relief and acute rehab pathway requires not only sound rehab principles but also an ability to educate the rehab exercises and explain the benefits to your patient. Anyone can teach a kettle bell row to a client but not everyone can explain and educate how that exercise can reduce shoulder and neck pain via contraction of the right muscles through correct movement plane due to biomechanics and physics (levers and gravity) All New Grad Physio’s who commence working at Trained Physio go though a thorough S&C program with @liv.strelein.physiotherapy for approx 6-8 weeks. Tag a Physio who also appreciates S&C If you have any questions regarding our S&C program comment below @trained_physioperth #TrainedPhysioPerth

14.01.2022 SYDNEY// Earlier this year we stumbled across a Physio business which combined S&C with Physio. Right away we aligned and after this the guys from @befit.physio and @wildphysiofitness created a podcast called @hybridtherapistpodcast and that was the beginning of mutual relationship formed on like minded values and beliefs. Fast forward 12 months - I was one of their guests on the podcast then planned a spontaneous trip over to Sydney to finally meet the 2 Andrews, shake their hands, party (try get Linda drunk ) and talk all things business and Physio. What a fantastic few days, until next time fellas it was great to finally meet and look forward to seeing you in Perth one day soon!

13.01.2022 WHAT DOES A PHYSIO ACTUALLY DO?? The general public’s perception is Physio’s are a glorified massage therapists.....sad but true A PHYSIOTHERAPIST is an allied health professional that, by using evidence based modalities exercise prescription manual therapies and health education treats conditions such as chronic or acute pain, soft tissue injuries, cartilage damage, arthritis, gait disorders and physical impairments.... PHYSIOTHERAPISTS use strengthening modalities (as pictured) to build and strengthen your muscles this includes lifting techniques for Physio’s with S&C backgrounds and qualifications (like our Trained Physio’s) PHYSIOTHERAPISTS use physical techniques to improve movement and reduce pain and stiffness PHYSIOTHERAPISTS are qualified in the treatment of diseases Professional teams, athletes and hospitals all have Physiotherapists as part of their medical support team PHYSIOTHERAPISTS are qualified in the field of injury prevention and movement analysis. #ThankYouForConingToMyTedTalk #TrainedPhysioPerth @trained_physioperth

13.01.2022 IS DEADLIFTING BAD FOR YOUR BACK?// .......ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! When performed correctly the foundation movement of a deadlift is the HIP HINGE. ... The hip hinge is crucial in the prevention and rehabilitation of lower back injuries. DO I HAVE A WEAK BACK? No! 13.01.2022 PHYSIO vs CHIRO There are excellent Physiotherapists and sub-par Physiotherapists the same goes with Chiropractors. We have all heard the horror stories however, there is good and bad in every profession - people just tend to remember the bad and forget the good ... 08.01.2022 CHRONIC PAIN// Chronic pain can have a drastic effect on someones life and mental health Chronic pain is classified as constant pain that lasts for longer than 3-6 months ... We know that tissue healing from an acute injury usually takes around 4-6 weeks. This means that injuries usually get better over time, if aggravating activities are avoided However, if you don't address the underlying issue of the cause, as soon as you start to get back to regular activities or start loading again, a flare up will occur There are endless reasons as to why someone may experience chronic pain, and even more potential treatment management strategies ready and waiting to be implemented One thing is for sure, mental health can suffer as a consequence of chronic pain. It's a viscous cycle where the less you feel like you can do, the less you do, and the less you are able to do This is why we are so passionate about what we do. We not only want to help people get out of pain, but also avoid it in the first place through proper exercise execution and education Do you experienced chronic pain?
