25.01.2022 School holidays are here. If youre finding it hard to get to your usual training, how about including the kids. Bike ride, treasure hunt hike, follow the leader, dance competition or a game like duck, duck, goose. Encouraging the kids to be active by joining in, is a great way to get them off their devices and all of you moving. Its a win win!

22.01.2022 FIT FRIDAY - Senior moments that will blow you away

22.01.2022 Hump day rump day, hows yours hanging So the glutes are the largest muscle group in the body. Thats where your power and speed comes from. You want to maintain strength in these power houses, too much sitting can flatten them and make them weak. So heres 3 great exercises for all levels.... 1. Glute Bridges body weighted (BW)or weighted using a barbell (BB) or plate. Lay on your back, knees bent, hips up with glutes squeezed tight. DO NOT arch through your lower back to get height. You can move your butt down and thrust up with a squeeze. You can this with one leg raised or you can do them weighted with a BB or plate across your hips/thighs. Start with 3 sets of 10-15 BW or if using Weight 3 x 8-10. Depending on how you feel in 24-48 hours you will increase the intensity by reps, sets or weight. 2. Squats BW or weighted. Lots of variations narrow wide, single leg by putting one foot up behind you on a couch, bench etc, if using a BB front, back, sumo, or even squat lunge combo 1 squat 2 lunges (alternate the leg stepping forward or backward). The squat lunge combo can be BW or weighted. 3. Resistance band (RB) squat walk. Place band around both legs above or below knees NOT ON KNEES. Get into a squat position with the RB taut, a squat at 90 degrees is what you should aim for, you can work up to this. Keeping the band taut and your squat step side ways for 5 do 5 squats now go back the way you cane 5 steps still keeping your squat & band taut then 5 squats, rest and repeat. You may choose to do less or more than 5 steps, you can do these TABATA style that is a set time to work and rest ie 30seconds work 10 seconds rest recover with 3 rounds or even 10, ouch. 16.01.2022 Thumping Thursday Get your heart rate up and exercise your heart & lungs. The heart is a muscle and getting breathy through movement is good for it! Lots of ways to do this from beginners to athletes. Brisk walk, jogging, running, sprints, depending on your level of health and fitness. Short burst of body weighted exercises, walking up stairs to a full blown HIIT session, tuck jumps, burpees etc. Again this depends on your level of health and fitness.... What makes them different? They dont tell themselves theyre too old. They embrace their age and still go after their goals. You set your limits. If you decide youre too old, then youll be just that! Dont short change yourself, youd be amazed at what you can achieve with the right mindset! Now go for gold

15.01.2022 Now thats how you do a get up! Dont tell me youre too old, heres proof youre not. This is a great test of longevity. How many times do you touch a surface to enable you to get down and backup? That includes having to roll to the side. Hows this ladies balance, core & upper body strength. I know people half her age that cant do some of these moves. What an inspiration
