25.01.2022 The Wungunja Cultural Centre hope everyone has had a great break over the Xmas and New Year period and had time to enjoy spending time with family and friends during the holiday period. A quick update on the Centre. We are now an official Driver Reviver Centre open for travelers from 10:00am to 3:00pm daily. This service is additional to the Centre also being an Information Centre. If you are travelling through Trangie at any time, take a break from travelling and call in for a free cuppa.

22.01.2022 Yesterday the Trangie Central School brought their teaching and support staff to the Cultural Centre as part of their development day. Our trainee, Georginia O'Neill gave a guided talk on the exhibits held in the Centre so the teachers are familiar with what we can offer to students when they visit. A huge thankyou to the staff of Trangie Central School for visiting. We hope you enjoyed your visit and that we have been able to build your knowledge on the cultural stories of the Trangie community.

19.01.2022 Our beautiful Goan Waterhole is a significant place to our local indigenous community. Our ancestors used to hold gatherings here for different events. Always a beautiful spot to clear your mind and take in the mothers creations.

13.01.2022 Today we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from 55 children and 8 support staff from the Dubbo North Public school years 3 and 4 classes. What a wonderful group of students, all were very interested in the exhibits at the Cultural Centre and managed to ask some pretty amazing questions. A huge thankyou to Georgina for sharing the Trangie stories with the students. #Dubbonorthprimary visitwungunjaculturalcentretrangie #Dubbostudents

03.01.2022 Quandong Tree. The fruit off the tree was used to make pies, jams etc. They can also be dried and used for decoration on necklaces and things. #trangiecentralschool Thankyou. Our little trees are looking good.

03.01.2022 History on the Centre's building. The building was the Trangie Scout Hall and was opened on the 3rd May 1934. During 1956 the scout hall was used as a classroom for year 4 students.

02.01.2022 Anzac Day was celebrated by the Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council this year by contributing a display in the Memorial Hall and by erecting a sign at the entrance to the Wungunja Cultural Centre A huge thankyou to Lea McKinnon for coming up with the idea to make the poppies for the sign and to the residents and Ros Kilgour and staff from Kurrajong Court for helping to paint the poppies. Lea put the sign together and erected it along the fence. The sign looked amazing and... was very eye catching for those driving by. The display in the Memorial Hall held photos and information about the Aboriginal soldiers. We also had a display of totems that had been painted by the students from the Trangie Central school as well as family members of the soldiers. The totems were then assembled in the foyer of the building. Many thanks to the Trangie Central School students under the direction of Troy Jones, Kristy Gale and family and Lilly Ryan and family for painting the totems. Also would like to thank Michelle from Whisk Away Coffee Van for coming along for the afternoon.

02.01.2022 Please note that due to government restrictions the Wungunja Cultural Centre will be closed until further notice. WE do however still have a staff member located at the Centre that is available if you would like to purchase a gift from our merchandise stock. We have beautiful locally hand made earrings in button style and in dangling all with Aboriginal prints.
