This is my take on Lu Jianzhi’s style of the character. TIP ... Yunzhang is my FAAAV smartphone app for Chinese calligraphy practice and it shows you various styles of writing a single character. 03.01.2022 Throwing it back to 3 years ago when I first played the (petition to Apple to develop an Er hu emoji please) I remember walking past this uncle thinking that he had scripts of Chinese calligraphy on the floor (silly me) and I obviously got excited. The sound of the caught my attention, and it confused me. Who’s the BADASS playing this ancient chinese instrument in the CBD? The uncle gently approached me taught me how to read the chart. For someone like me who’s born ...and bred in Australia, it’s a super rare sight to be exposed to ancient Chinese instruments in a classroom setting, let alone strolling around in Sydney CBD. Don’t think I’ll ever get to play again (sorry to disappoint, mum and dad) but the biggest takeaway for me is to ALWAYS honour your roots. Doesn’t matter if you’re fluent in your native language or not. It’s the efforts that matter. If it doesn’t start with you, then it ends with you.
