23.01.2022 "Show me an interesting, fully formed person, and I'll show you a once-'difficult' child. It's only taken me a thousand years, but I think I finally see it. These kids, they're not 'naughty' or 'nice.' They're kids." Santa Claus This is such a relevant and meaningful reflection on the notion of Christmas and the so called 'difficult child'. The polar opposites don't diminish the impact. Christmas can be stressful regardless of whether is freezing cold and dark, or blazing hot with the longest of days. As I continue to journey, separating the behaviours that disappoint me from from my own sense of self... This conscious Santa encourages us to do the same for our kids. The text is worth digesting, and the 2 minutes and 30 seconds of video is well worth a watch. Wishing you a peaceful and harmonious Christmas.

23.01.2022 In a busy and maybe large classroom we can easily fall into a trap... The trap of believing that it's hard to create a sense for each student that they are truly seen and valued Here's an idea to get beyond that limiting belief... Thanks so much Prudence Kelly for the share. So great!

22.01.2022 My great friend, mentor and colleague Steph has launched her awesome set of parenting Oracle cards via Kickstarter. So great for gaining guidance and inspiration when the chips are down, or you simply want to be the best version of you.

21.01.2022 I was inspired to create a Live video for the first time in the public domain. I hope you find it helpful and valuable. Just wanting to share where I'm at with this life changing work...

21.01.2022 Here's to the wild ones indeed! The gift that they are. The world needs this magical intensity... We need this magical intensity.

20.01.2022 I'm excited to let you know that the wonderful Stephanie Kakris has invited me (Rod Schofield) for a Live interview and chat about the Approach that I live and teach. We'll be live on Stephanie's page at 1pm Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.... in about 35 minutes. I'll share the interview here later.

19.01.2022 My colleague put it so well. Difference, not deficit. Check out this beautifully spontaneous moment and the greatness of this amazing child, his classmates, and their inspired teacher. It touches me deeply.

17.01.2022 Exciting times! I've been invited to present my information workshop at the Eastwood Community Centre. Those of you who've been unable to get along to my previous gigs might like to consider coming along. Both workshops will run on Wednesday 05 June... One in the morning and one in the evening.

17.01.2022 My friend and colleague Kirsty Greenshields recently shared this deeply thought provoking post from a bloke who calls his blog Stark Raving Dad. I often subtly judge myself as slightly or possibly stark raving mad because I'm teaching an approach and sharing suggestions that strike to the core of what drives us to batch process our children through the education system (Credit to Sir Ken Robinson for the Batch Processing reference). This can be intensely challenging to the be...liefs of those parents carers and teaching professionals listening to what I have to say, and often equally challenging to me as my own internal dialogue kicks in. So often during the 20 years we spent / invested putting our children through the school system I came up against the education paradigm. There are some feelings of shame that arise when I think about what might have been, alongside some intense pride that my kids are thriving DESPITE the time they spent in school. Often, people have engaged powerfully with what I've shared and the support that I provide in the context of some drama that has arisen in relation to school attendance and participation. The audience often laughs uncomfortably when I share that none of the emotional intelligence and other skills I draw upon were imparted to me at school. The reason for my post, isn't to advocate for unschooling or home schooling... It's more about utilising new ways to see and connect with our kids, particularly those that inspire us to find new ways of being and have gifts that can be hidden behind intensely frustrating and challenging behaviours. This connection and presence is required regardless of the decision you make around schooling. I guess another reason for this share, is to highlight voices the likes of Stark Raving Dad being out there. I wish I'd thought of that name. See more

16.01.2022 For those of you who couldn't make the recent workshops at Semaphore Park, we're doing it all again this time as part of the Aberfoyle Community Centre Health and Wellness month of May. We have evening and an early afternoon time slots.

07.01.2022 This speaks powerfully to the work that I do. I help you find your courage so as not to join in, and provide you with the tools to tell the story of hope.

06.01.2022 This video by Sir Ken Robinson has been around for a very long time now and speaks powerfully to the work I do, and to a conversation I so often have around the nature of education and the struggle our children have engaging with it. It's worth investing the 11 minutes to see a radically different perspective. Look out for the image of a heart when he discusses presence and aliveness. "Instead of anaesthetising our children, we should be waking our children up to what they have inside them." https://youtu.be/zDZFcDGpL4U

04.01.2022 Life continues to unfolds so perfectly. Thanks for being there Steph. Steph's cards sit so perfectly with the work that I do, and I love how Stephanie recognises that at such a deep level... And that rooibus chai! Just so good.

03.01.2022 I'm still learning where my posts end up :) I'm hoping you find this insight useful and empowering.

03.01.2022 A little over 10 years ago, we were inspired by this then young man to find another way... the way we parented was pouring volatile fuel onto the fire and giving us more of what we didn't want. Things like disconnection, withdrawal and a lack of focus. Here we are, 10 years later, revealing the gift of intensity, focus, taking on the challenge and deep connection. It's been quite a journey. Stephen continues to shine a focused and determined light. #nightsongs #nurturedheartapproach

02.01.2022 Well, that's a wrap. So much fun. Here is the interview I just completed with Stephanie Kakris. Steph asked me just after we finished if it was possible for people to access their Australian NDIS funding to fund their participation in Nurtured Heart Approach training. The answer to that question is Yes. If you'd like more information, reach out via a message or email. I hope you enjoy the interview.
