19.01.2022 Older Women's Network NSW Just in case you are wondering how much the bosses who run some of these nursing homes make, look no further. Andrew Sudholz earns ove...r $1million for running an organisation which the Aged Care Royal Commission called "determined to avoid accountability for its actions. Japara received $288 million in Federal Government funding this year for its 4000 residents and turned an after-tax profit of $16.4 million. Regis Healthcare received $452 million in taxpayer revenue, posted a $51 million post-tax profit and paid chief executive Ross Johnston $1,032,251. The head of BUPA Global earns close to $4million. In Australia, more than half of BUPA's nursing homes had failed to meet basic standards, and 30% were putting residents at "serious risk". It also had to pay back the tax office $157million for profit shifting. Should tax payer dollars meant for caring for our older, vulnerable Australians be used to generate profit for private companies? (Image from Courier Mail, Queensland)
