They were joined by representatives from local businesses working on the project, as well as the South West Development Commission and DevelopmentWA.... This phase, part of Stage 2 of the waterfront project, includes landscaping and revitalisation works along Casuarina Boat Harbour, installing community amenities and improving access for residents and visitors.

15.01.2022 Never fear the Arrol Crane, located at Bunbury's Casuarina Boat Harbour, will be back! We recently took it away from some much needed refurbishment works ...The Arrol Crane is an important piece of history for City of Bunbury. The crane was manufactured in 1911 and worked on the Bunbury Timber Jetty between 1929 - 1982. The crane is in safe hands and will be restored to a structurally safe condition and preserved as a reminder of the iconic Timber Jetty Heritage.

07.01.2022 In coming weeks we’ll be releasing the tender for the Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront Stage 2 landscaping and redevelopment works and we want South West bus...iness and Bunbury jobs to be at the heart of this project. We’ve created a South West business register, where local businesses can put themselves forward to be a part of this project. Once the tender is released, the register will be provided to prospective lead contractors a ready-made list of local businesses to fast-track engagement of local contractors. The foreshore work involves comprehensive landscaping and site works within Casuarina Harbour and along Casuarina Drive including: upgraded playground facilities and new shade sails; barbecue and picnic shelters; beach showers and grassed areas; improved lighting and security; terraced steps and amphitheatre seating; upgraded beach promenade pathways for pedestrians and cyclists; and improved beach access paths to connect restaurants and businesses. Works will kick off in July 2020. Small businesses can register online at: http://www.swdc.wa.gov.au//transforming-bunbury's-waterfro
05.01.2022 Wondering where the jetty crane has gone? It is being restored offsite as an extension of the Transforming Bunbury's Waterfront project. Through its Jetty Road causeway upgrade, the Department of Transport (DoT) is refurbishing the Arrol crane and ensuring it continues as a landmark for future generations.... Dwyer Engineering is carrying out the restoration works from its Harvey-based workshop, working with Bunbury-based WML Consultants who completed preliminary studies and will provide technical support. The crane, which was built in 1911 by Sir William Arrol and Co Ltd in Glasgow, was one of several located on the Bunbury Timber Jetty and used to load and unload ships.
04.01.2022 Boat users, along with the general public, are set to benefit from stage three, phase one of the project. A total of $78.1 million from the State Government has been allocated towards this stage, which will focus on the delivery of critical infrastructure that will provide foundations for long-term growth. A key area of concentration will be the construction of new breakwaters at Casuarina Boat Harbour and Koombana Bay to support further land and marine infrastructure develop...ment. The establishment of hardstand areas and enabling infrastructure, as well as a site to develop an onshore boat stacking facility is expected to attract investment in a marine lifting and servicing precinct at Casuarina Boat Harbour. Landside civil works at Casuarina Boat Harbour will improve services, roads, landscaping, parking, and include upgrades to existing boat launching facilities and new public amenities. At Koombana Bay, the establishment of a breakwater is expected to be a catalyst for investment in a proposed future marina incorporating boat pens to allow safe year-round mooring of boats. The Koombana Bay breakwater will provide public recreation facilities including a promenade, fishing jetty and swimming platform with universal access.
