25.01.2022 Yesterdays announcement was great news for ALL Regional Victorias businesses. It has been a long haul and we can only hope Melbourne Metro will follow soon. S...o...... as I said in my last post we will be re-opening next Wednesday 23rd Sept at 7 am, this is an earlier opening time as requested many, many times by everyone, so we will oblige and hope you can support us by stopping in for that early morning coffee and hot food. For the time being our hours will be WED - SUN 7am to 3pm. We have ample outdoor dining and can also have inside dining with limited numbers. It is important you book especially for inside dining, please phone 51 271890, leave a msg and we will get back to you. We are all looking forward to seeing you again, thanks for your support and patience Deb & the Girls x See more

23.01.2022 Latrobe City Council’s contractor A1 Asphalt will be completing an asphalt overlay of the roundabout at Washington and Henry Streets in Traralgon on 28 January.... Works will commence at 7am and will be completed that day. The roundabout will be closed to traffic and detours will be in place while the crew are onsite, so please obey all signage. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we improve your road network.
22.01.2022 Welcome Spring These cygnets are certainly growing quickly!! A glorious afternoon at the Traralgon Railway Reserve.
22.01.2022 Latrobe Regional Gallery will be OPEN from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday 26 January for the Australia Day Public Holiday. When your'e out and about make sure to stop i...n and view one of the many exhibitions currently on show, grab an activity pack from The Lane, or make a purchase from the gift shop. #supportlocal #lovewhereilive #staylocal
22.01.2022 We have thought long and hard about this. The Executive has reached a unanimous position. Agnes Brereton Park has a history and legacy that should be acknowledged. To build an adjunct to the Netball facility would be questionable. Once again the sport of Skateboarding would be relegated to second best. It is an Olympic Sport and requires respect. Kay St is perfect, high visibility and access to the CBD and transport links. If you have an opinion, feel free to give feedback to LCC.
21.01.2022 This shop on Post Office Place is better value for fabrics than the "big" store!
20.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE // Opening day will be Saturday 28th November from 10am - 3pm and we can’t wait to share our new space with you. We have some exciting additions ...to our indoor plant range including @jolieandjools hand made pots, organic freshly cut herbs, in season vegetables and some other local collaborations that I will share closer to opening. There’ll be no worries about traffic or parking out here and the best part is that @narkoojeewinery is just up the road so you could even make a day of it !
20.01.2022 Heard the jingle the other day..childhood memories and a desire for ice-cream immediately! Thank you
20.01.2022 What a low act.
19.01.2022 Were a bit sad on this beautiful moonlit evening in Walhalla. This is the last Saturday in August - we would normally be running the final night of our August ...evening Light Trains. Everybody would be enjoying the illuminated Stringers Creek gorge, hot chocolates and hot water bottles. At this stage, all we have are very rusty rails and no idea when we might be able to reopen. We have to say that as a voluntarily managed, not for profit attaction, WGR cant continue to sustain all our ongoing bills for much longer without outside support. Our hard working volunteers are ready to reopen but the task will get beyond us before too long. Well be launching a campaign very soon to try and get some help. Watch this space!
19.01.2022 A new COVID-19 testing site ois now open at the Latrobe Performing Centre inside the Traralgon Town Hall, on the corner Breed and Grey Street Traralgon. 16.01.2022 Special Council Meeting to consider ULAB recycling plant Latrobe City Council will hold a Special Council Meeting on Thursday 17 September at 6pm to consider th...e proposal for a Used Lead Acid Battery (ULAB) recycling facility at Hazelwood North. Chunxing Corporation Pty Ltd is proposing to establish the recycling plant at Fourth Road, Hazelwood North, near Morwell. The plant is proposed to process 50,000 tonnes per year of spent lead acid batteries and recycle them into 28,000 tonnes of refined lead per year. The proposal has received Works Approval from the EPA and now needs a planning permit from Council to proceed. Council will consider the planning permit application at the Special Council Meeting, which will be held online due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Members of the public can watch the Special Council Meeting live on Councils website or Facebook page. If you wish to address Council in relation to this matter, you can do so by registering to speak. Registrations to speak need to be provided to Council via email to [email protected] before 12 noon on the day of the Special Council meeting. Further information about public participation can be found on Councils website at https://bit.ly/3hhB6rh The agenda can be found: https://bit.ly/3m9Zqiy If you require any further information about the process of the Special Council meeting or how to be involved, please contact the Governance Team on 1300 367 700.

16.01.2022 Latrobe City Council is excited about this! The new Latrobe Creative Precinct in Traralgon will host first class productions once it opens in the second half o...f 2021. But for now, the centre is putting on a show of its own, with construction of a 25m high fly tower underway. The iconic structure, which is literally towering over Traralgon, needs to be so high to enable theatre companies to lift stage backdrops into place. The fly tower is the tallest available in the theatre world. This means the new arts centre will be able to host shows that Gippslanders previously had to travel to Melbourne for. Hows that for a first class act? Check out this time-lapse video to watch construction of the fly tower take shape.

12.01.2022 Things are in full swing down at The VRI gardens, our get swapped box is full of produce, we have countless seedlings for sale and the poppies have bloomed perf...ectly for Remembrance day. If most of the photos we post seem to be devoid of people, it is because we are struggling to find enough volunteers and visitors to bring back the vibrancy of the community to our community garden. So, if you are wanting to connect with like-minded fellow gardeners, want fresh, organic produce and have some time to share, you are all welcome to visit on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. 09.01.2022 Hi everyone, A few months ago I started reaching out for volunteers in a few yarn groups, asking for beanies to be made for a little fundraiser my student Josie... started for Carries beanies for brain cancer. Josie made a plan for our school to raise and donate funds towards The charity. Obviously things are slower in lockdown, but Im still hopeful before the start of term 4 in mid October we can drum up more donations to run a beanie fundraiser at our school to support Josie and her family. I currently have around a dozen beanies which I will share with you for inspiration I will share the images of the designs drawn by the students that won the competition Josie created as well. Please PM me if you are able to create or donate any beanies. https://www.latrobevalleyexpress.com.au//plan-b-eanie-is/

07.01.2022 ***WORLD PREMIERE LAUNCH*** My Valley, My Home music video & project launch... We couldn’t be more proud to launch the World premiere of our exciting newmusic video My Valley, My Home with original music and lyrics composed by our award winning Artistic Director - conductor, singer and composer Dr Jonathon Welch AM. The lyrics for My Valley, My Home were inspired by a conversation Dr Welch had in 2018. with the students at Morwell Central Primary School and members of the award winning Latrobe Valley Community Choir. "Every voice you hear on this video is a resident of Latrobe Valley and they were all recorded entirely digitally during the lockdown in Victoria this year. I really wanted to capture the beauty of the Latrobe Valley region, the amazing warmth, talent and resilience of the community and the pride they have choosing to live there. I really hope this song will become an anthem of pride for Latrobe Valley in years to come, and everyone will sing it" said Dr Welch. We are truly grateful to the amazing support that all the Latrobe Valley Community has shown for this project, and it would not have been possible without funding support from the Latrobe Health Assembly, working together within the Latrobe Health Innovation Zone. We are also indebted to our amazing artistic and admin teams at Play It Forward, in particular the tireless dedication and passion of our Project Manager and local Latrobe Valley resident - Tineke Westwood. My valley, my home - there is no place I’d rather call my own #myvalleymyhome #SIW20 Social Inclusion Week Latrobe Valley Community Choir Latrobe Health Assembly We Are Latrobe Play It Forward
07.01.2022 The show goes on at the Latrobe Creative Precinct As well as the erection of the fly tower at the Latrobe Creative Precinct in Traralgon, theres plenty of prog...ress at ground level too! Work is now taking shape on what will become the loading bay for the new theatre. Located in the same spot as the old car park on Grey Street, this will be where all the equipment is delivered to enable world class shows at the new facility. In addition to the loading bay and new 72-space underground car park, kerb and pavement upgrades are also occurring on Kay Street, Church Street and behind the existing Latrobe Performing Arts Centre building. These upgrades will make parking easier once the Latrobe Creative Precinct is completed in mid-2021. A decision about how the underground car park will operate will be made by Council prior to the Latrobe Creative Precinct opening.
