23.01.2022 This sad news Not going to have a local win news service all going state wide . Very sad indeed .

22.01.2022 Over the weekend we ran the first of what we hope will be many Fire Relief Camps. We were lucky enough to meet and spend time with 4 of the most amazing famili...es. Despite the horrendous weather & social distancing, everyone made the most of the weekend. Nothing could stop those kids from swinging, climbing & flying through the air. A huge thank you to all the families, the organisations involved, and the Licola staff. Without you all, this would not of been possible! * I was having too much fun to remember to take more photos! *

22.01.2022 The Twilight Farmers Market is ON NOW at Victory Park!

22.01.2022 This Saturday we're celebrating Hello. Day at the Traralgon Farmers Market - 22nd May. Find out more from Damen from the Latrobe Health Assembly! PS.... Not much to it really, just say Hello and start a conversation :)

20.01.2022 In light of current situation with covid 19 the Traralgon farmers market has been canceled for March and April with a review for the May market to happen at the end of April . Also as of today the Traralgon Lions club have suspended the spinning wheel at the plaza until further notice .

18.01.2022 Keys, wallet, face mask. That’s your checklist of what to bring when leaving home, as COVID-19 restrictions ease from today. Now, you don’t have to wear a face... mask outside when you can keep 1.5m away from people. What a relief as the weather heats up! However, you are still required to carry a mask and wear it if you cannot keep your distance from others, such as at farmers’ markets and other outdoor retail venues. Masks must be worn indoors unless an exemption applies. You must wear a mask if using public transport (including when waiting at stations), sharing a ride, shopping, and in hospitals and aged care facilities. Check out this entertaining video as a reminder of what you can do to keep yourself and other Latrobe City residents safe. See how many familiar faces you can spot!

17.01.2022 Traralgon businesswoman Maria developed her own natural, organic skin and hair care product range for dogs after identifying a gap in the market in 2012 when sh...e needed to treat her own dogs eczema. Maria launched The DoggieBalm Co online last year. She now sells to a customer base stretching from Gippsland to the USA, as well as Singapore, Ireland and New Zealand. Maria regularly attended Gippsland farmers markets to chat to customers directly, but while those activities are temporarily on pause she has seized the opportunity to grow her online business. 17.01.2022 Hi Hope we are all staying safe and looking after each other in these difficult times .Would just like to remind you all that there will NOT be a Traralgon Farmers Market next Saturday the 25th April 2020 due to covid19 . Moving forward all other Traralgon Farmers Markets have also been canceled due to Latrobe city rescinding our permit to run the markets and also Traralgon Lions Club suspending all activities until further notice. We will be back when it is safe to do so. Thanking you for your support in these difficult times . Stay safe and Take care

17.01.2022 Hey legends of Gippsland. In my role at Latrobe Performing Arts, we administer the Performing Arts Venues and in particular the Sound Shell. We're looking at ru...nning a summer music series at the Sound Shell in Traralgon at Victory Park and will be putting on a series of free concerts for the community to attend. I'd love some feedback as to the best time to hold this time of series (probably during Feb at this stage). We're thinking Either, Thursday Twilight (7-9pm) or Saturday/Sunday Afternoon (2-4) or Twilight (7-9pm). Would also love to know what/who you'd like to see perform. (think big), with some comments below. There's a real opportunity to produce something great and I'd love it to be something the community really wants. This would be a free event for the community and, most importantly, a paid opportunity for artists. Comment away ....

16.01.2022 There is going to be a Toy Run on 5th December. I am pleased to announce that RoadSafe and Victoria Police are committed to supporting the running of the Toy Ru...n on 5th December. RoadSafe will be monitoring the route to ensure potholes are repaired and that the road is swept and VicPol are putting on extra staff to get us through the route safely. We have created a Covid Safe plan for the run, which is detailed below, and is nothing that is of a surprise to any of us. As of 23rd November the Covid roadmap states that groups of up to 50 people will be able to gather. This means that as riders rock up at Nefertiti Court from 9.30am onwards they will be allocated a Road Captain and immediately proceed to Old Gippstown as a group. As another group of 50 riders accumulate the same will occur and so on till they're all gone by 11.00am. Unless restrictions are eased between now and then this is a requirement that needs to be observed. The Covid Plan requires that all participants be recorded with first names and phone numbers taken, that face masks are worn, social distancing is maintained as well as possible and hand sanitiser will be available. Bobber Dave's shop will have the usual restrictions regarding quotas and distancing applied. We have to appoint Covid marshals to ensure this is complied with, so expect this to happen. The Traralgon Lions will be providing their usual cooked breakfast and Lahrra's Coffee Van will be in attendance. A portable loo will also be on site. At Old Gippstown the venue is allowed to have 40 people seated for lunch indoors and another 70 seated outdoors. The rest of the venue is allowed to have groups of 10 people spread around and socially distancing. This too may ease as the weeks draw on. As it stands now people are encouraged to arrive, drop off toys and have a bite to eat before departing within a reasonable time. We can do this and we're determined to make it happen, as well as setting a glowing example of what the Covid Gold Standard of Toy Runs looks like. Well that's all I want to bombard you with at the moment and I am please to finally be able to publish our 2020 Toy Run poster. I'll post lots more about how we will run it and the route etc as time draws nearer. Thanks for you patience and support over the past few months. I would appreciate it if you could share this post. Stay safe, Alf See more

14.01.2022 As you all know, the patrons of our Toy Run are Julz and Dave from Bobber Dave's shop in Nefertiti Court, Traralgon, and, once I get the Police to sit down and ...talk to me, we just might be able to start our Toy Run (in whatever shape or form that is acceptable) from there again. (What a mouthful). Anyway that's going to be the subject of another post later. The reason for this post is to thank Julz and Dave for the lovely gifts that they have donated to the Toy Run effort. We appreciate their generosity and for supporting us since our Reformation 5 years ago. It's a pleasure dealing with good people. Alf

05.01.2022 Just visited the relief centre in Bairnsdale which has turned into a mini-camping ground at the recreation reserve. Up to 500 people stayed the night and the su...pport from staff and volunteers has been amazing. Weve got neighbouring councils helping out by sending their staff to take some of the burden off East Gippsland Shire Council and Ive met volunteers from all over the state. Everyone from Sikh Volunteers Australia to Red Cross, St Johns Ambulance, St Vinnies... all supporting our community. The handmade Red Cross teddies are a hit but long time Bairnsdale volunteer Ann said they were strictly for the kids! Im going to be in all sorts of trouble for not naming all the volunteer groups but theres literally too many to remember. Thanks so much to everyone for lending a hand in whatever way possible. Theres been donations of clothing, fodder, equipment and so many people opening their homes to support others. Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund has established a bushfires appeal and you can donate by going to www.gerf.org.au #lovegippsland See more
