22.01.2022 Really wonderful to be working on the stunning NSW north coast with Destination North Coast and many wonderful tourism operators! Be Remarkable!
17.01.2022 We’ve done it! Crazy but true Lilly & I are launching a new addition to the TravConsult family, Naturally Northern Rivers Australia. Yes, we now have two businesses! 2020 has been full of change for everyone we have all been affected in one way or another by Covid-19. Self-isolation, tik-tok, toilet paper skirmishes, social distancing, face masks, border closures, lockdowns However, at the peak of uncertainty, we heard a cry from the hearts of Australians to support our ...local communities, local farmers & producers. Back in May/June 2020, these were key community themes & we wondered how we could marry this need for good health & well-being with the amazing natural produce & products from our region. We have partnered with passionate artisans - farmers, creators and lovers of the region, advocates of sustainable and ethical practices that give back to the environment and back to our communities. We love them all & most importantly, they make delicious products for your skin, tummy & taste-buds! Our vision is for others to love the Northern Rivers products so much they will one day want to come & see for themselves to discover their own provenance of good health. Remember those teaser music videos featuring the amazing Lucas Proudfoot, his guitar & didgeridoo? Check out the final cut & join our tribe on Facebook at Naturally Northern Rivers Australia For the full experience, check out our website, www.naturallynorthernrivers.com.au Our blogs give insight to our region & our people. We’ve pumped out product blogs on Uses for Manuka Honey & Certified Organic Tea Tree Oil there’s a little reward for taking the time to read these Best of all, splurge on your own health & wellbeing with the knowledge you are supporting ethical practices & fabulous small businesses! 03.01.2022 The Theme was Team! at the North Coast Tourism Symposium yesterday. Julie and I drove down to Coffs (from the Gold Coast) for the Northern NSW tourism confe...rence. There were some important messages to share with Clarence Valley residents. The highlight for us was Lilly and Trevor Lee’s from ‘TravConsult’ closing Pep Talk Be Remarkable during which they showed a Clarence River video and encourages everyone to find our own Purple Roo, that which makes us stand out. Other key messages were: * 43% of the ‘International Tourism Dollar’ is spent regionally * Ecotourism is leading the charge in search of Green spaces and wild places. * Heritage National Parks are a priority with tourists visiting Australia. * Accessibility and inclusiveness is of major importance. * Joshua Allen from ‘Synchronicity Farm’ at Nana Glen gave a great talk on establishing permaculture and ‘farm-gate experience’ on only 1.5 acres, which scored him a $200k government grant. He spoke about the importance of establishing food and wine trails. Visit his farm and learn! The overall theme was the importance of working as a team to attract tourism to the area. However, the conference was somewhat parochial, Coffs Coast tourism took center stage, so we didn’t feel motivated to join that team, however what was obvious was that the Clarence Valley has so much more to offer than the Coffs Coast: I don’t have to convince the locals but; firstly, the greatest river system on the East Coast, and two; with the highway upgrade, under 2hrs to Gold Coast International Airport. Three; a better harbour than Coffs ‘Harbour’ and four; surf-beaches! The key element being; proximity to an international airport, Coffs is trying hard. In conclusion, the "remarkable" message was, businesses need to train as a team and hunt as a pack. NZ does great nature-based tourism. Visit and see how they hunt as a pack. The conference buoyed our own belief that Iluka is unique and has it all and more so from now on, Facebook Friends of Iluka Beach Surf&Yoga will be regarded as Team Iluka. Join the team.
01.01.2022 City of Darwin hosted a workshop with executives from the Tourism Sector today, to understand how we can partner with them to support growth in this important sector. Outcomes and recommendations from the Workshop will form a Report to Council. What do you think tourism in Darwin needs?
