In Nov last year, it was reported by media that the US$35 charge for a 30-day visitor visa was going to be scrapped for Australians and four other nationalities, to take effect from 01 Jan 15. Following a wave of complaints from travel agents and tourists, the Director General of Immigration in Jakarta has issued a clarification saying the visa policy remains unchanged. The department said that while suggestions to expand the free visa policy have been proposed , no official order has been given.
