25.01.2022 New Release I was lucky enough to receive a 2020 New Release Yellow Label wines pack from Petaluma recently (thank you!!) and it’s safe to say this Chardy was very much enjoyed on our deck one evening this week. Petaluma was founded in 1976 in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills region. This is the coolest viticultural region in the state.... They suggest pairing this 2019 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay with white meats and seafood. It’s drinking beautifully now but will also cellar well over the next 10 years. We found it a pale golden shade in the glass. Yellow stonefruit dominate the nose with hints of buttered popcorn, honeydew melon and white flowers. While in the mouth it’s smooth and creamy with sweet vanilla, juicy nectarine and elegant grapefruit acidity in the back. Divine! Available vis petaluma.com.au or Dan Murphy’s for $54 a bottle. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

24.01.2022 Heres a remarkably full bodied Fat Bastard for you Introducing the Fat Bastard Wines 2019 South Australian Shiraz which we were kindly sent as a sample recently (thank you Modern Currency!). Plus Baby TC loved the little wombat mascot soft toy that came with it FB Wines focus on big, bold, beautiful juice from the best regions around the world. The brand is not shy, and neither are the wines ... Mr Spittoon and I recently dug into this Shiraz while catching up on some Netflix. Its a ruby shade in the glass with black fruits and a hint of toffee coming through on the nose. In the mouth its juicy and smooth with a deliciously voluptuous flavour. So freakin easy to consume and totally phat. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

24.01.2022 My husband aka Mr Spittoon finally joined our family business full time so to celebrate the end of his first week on the job we cracked this bottle of Dom Perignon 2005 that we had stored in one of our Vintec fridges We bought this from Dan Murphys last year as they had a good sale on. I cant quite remember how much we got it for - I think around the $200 mark. 2005 was a pretty good year in Champagne. From Wine Spectator it was given a 90/100 - Open-knit and approachabl...e versions capable of short-term cellaring; Chardonnay fared best. Heres what we thought of it: In the glass its like a Milky Way of glistening yellow stars Spiced pear, floral perfume and musk stick aromas rise up from the glass. While in the mouth its smooth, juicy, rich and sophisticated. We enjoyed every last drop. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

15.01.2022 Im a sucker for a Gruner Veltliner. Anyone else a big fan of Austrias signature white grape variety? In fact one vine in every three grown in Austria is Gruner Veltliner, and in the north east of the country, this rises to one in every two! It produces a refreshing tangy wine and Im loving seeing more Aussie grown GV around. This one here is a #freesample I received froGood Pair Daysys (thank you!!)Precious Little Winene is from South Australias Adelaide Hills and is... a collab between Marty OFlaherty and Adam Smith and their aim is to find the best (little) parcels of grapes and then transform them into amazing wines without pretentiousness. 14.01.2022 I’ve got a few Corryton Burge tasting notes on the blog. If you want to check them out or search my site, just head to the blog and use the search function right up the top (it’s in the menu on mobile) A big thank you to brother and sister duo, Amelia & Trent Burge for sending us their 2019 Corryton Burge Percival Norman Barossa Shiraz to taste. We cracked into it last night once Baby TC was down and we very much enjoyed this super refined and elegant Shiraz. Percival is Am...elia & Trent’s Great Grandfather who was an entrepreneur in his time. He was a well known writer and poet alongside starting the first family winery during the depression. The Shiraz grapes come from multiple vineyards across the western, central and southern Barossa. Firstly it’s got an amazingly rich, beautiful purple colour. I found the nose to be super chocolately which my senses absolutely loved. Chocolate mixed with red & black berries In the mouth it’s powerful yet super refined with a wonderfully long finish. Highly enjoyable. $45/bottle. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. 14.01.2022 Dinner is never dull with a Fat Bastard at the table And the Fat Bastard in question is this remarkedly full bodied Two Thousand & Eighteen Californian Chardonnay! A big thank you to Fat Bastard Wines & Modern Currency for sending over this #freesample for us to try This spiel really made me chuckle: ... Fat Bastard Wines strive to embrace the Fat Bastard lifestyle, and we encourage you to do the same! Its the kind of life where you dont sniff into the glass for 20 minutes before tasting our wine. The one where you dont need to wait for someones approval before opening a third, second bottle of wine. And, one where you enjoy demolishing a sumptuous cheese toastie for breakfast the morning after youve realised, youve never met a better bastard! So what was it like? Well.. its a beautiful sunrise yellow on the eye with delicious baking spice, honeyed nectarines, camomile and toasted almonds on the nose It covers your mouth with flavour. Think smooth slurps of lemon, peach and apricot. A pretty decent bastard if I do say so This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

14.01.2022 What is Blanc de Blancs? It translates to ‘white of whites’ and means the wine has entirely been made from white grapes. Most likely for sparkling wines you’ll find it’s Chardonnay - but not always. This sample bottle (thank you!) of the Taltarni 2016 Vintage Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay ... But not just any old Chardy grapes, it’s made from grapes from a mix of Chardonnay grapes from the Pyrenees, Adelaide Hills and Tasmania (it’s a multi-region blend!). It retails for a wallet-friendly $26. In the glass it’s a pale straw yellow shade. It tickles the nose with spiced apple and pear notes with a bit of salty air/saline in there too. On the palate it’s citrus driven, dry and incredibly moreish. Very yummy! This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

13.01.2022 Nothing warms you up better in winter than a hot mug of mulled wine (also known as; hot wine, vin chaud, glögg & glühwein). Some of my fondest memories of travelling through Europe in 2011 was wandering around the Christmas markets in Paris, Brussels, Bruges, Hamburg and throughout Scandinavia sipping on a hot mug of mulled wine. Of course the Germans & Scandinavians liked to add an extra shot of rum or multiple types of liquor to the blend but the typical mulled wine recipe ...normally consists of red wine and a combination of mulling spices (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, star anise, peppercorn & cardamom) all heated up and served in a mug or thick glass. Recipes differ and so does the way it’s served but there’s one thing for sure, it’ll warm you up like there’s no tomorrow. Plus you can also get white mulled wine, as well as mulled cider and mead, so keep an eye out for those! On the blog I have put together a list of 12 absolutely delicious sounding recipes, that’ll be perfect for this winter Are you a mulled wine lover?

13.01.2022 Steak and red wine - a classic and oh so tasty wine and food match A big thank you to Jam Shed who recently sent us this jammy #sample bottle of their 2019 Red Blend. Jam Shed is part of the Accolade Wines portfolio and is relaunching in Aussie after being hugely popular in the UK. The grapes are from South Eastern Australia, predominantly the Riverland region and it retails for $18. As the label says its rich, jammy and smooth. A great intro wine for new red wine drink...ers! Funnily enough in the glass it looks like dark berry jam with notes of black currant rising from the glass. Theres also a bit of smoked wood and red wine jus in there. Im the moth its juicy and fruity with plentiful berries. The steak really brought out the sweet berry notes in it, making me think of Ribena. Super easy to consume! Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! Dialogue PR + Communications

12.01.2022 Yep Good Pair Days knows me pretty well. This beauty ‘rocked’ up in my last sample box and well you know how much of a sucker I am for a yummy Chardonnay. Thank you GPD for nailing my taste buds with your Wine Palate Quiz! Have you tried out their wine subscription service yet? Being a bit techy and very wine geeky, I’m quite a fan and have been for a number of years now. There’s something about a wine algorithm and drinking wine that gets me pretty darn excited. Plus they’re... also a fan of you guys as they are willing to give you $23 off your first subscription box if you use the code travellingcorkscrew This Rockbare 2018 Chardonnay comes from the Adelaide Hills in SA. It’s tasting pretty darn good right now but can age up until approx 2025. So one for the cellar if you have the patience It’s a juicy light yellow shade in the glass. There’s citrus, nuts, fruit and baking spice coming through for me on both the nose and palate. Fantastic Chardy for $23! 12.01.2022 Im a sucker for a good Chenin Blanc and WA produces some of my favourite CBs! This Tripe.Iscariot Absolution 2018 Sec Chenin Blanc from Wilyabrup in Margaret River was a new one for me to try recently. I bought it as a lovely mixed pack of WA Chenin Blancs for Chenin Blanc Day in June. Remi Guise is the winemaker behind Tripe Iscariot. He hails from South Africa and arrived in Margs in 2007. Hes a popular contender in the Young Guns of Wine (YGOW) awards and was in fact g...iven the Winemakers Choice award last year. From offal to Judas Iscariot, Id highly recommend reading the YGOW bio on Remi and his berry to stalk philosophy. Now onto the wine. From its juicy lemon & lime colour to the wonderful aromas of vanilla scones, refreshing lime and baking spice - it had me mmmm-ing before I even sipped it. In the mouth wonderful notes of white peaches and nectarine plus a touch of savouriness had my tastebuds doing excited somersaults. Every glass made me thirstier for more All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

I miss my Swan Valley Verdelhos! Its a cloudy sunny yellow shade in the glass with notes of citrus zest, florals, pvc and tropical fruits like melon, guava and pawpaw rising from the glass. In the mouth its fresh and zippy! I loved reading about this one, heres the notes from the Dormilona website: This fruit is from the traditional Lamonts vineyard planting, upper Swan, 80 years of age & dry grown. Hand harvest, then destemmed into open for slight skin contact, basket pressed straight to tank for a chill ferment. Battonaged on heavy lees for 5 months, full malo then racked & a touch of sulphur at bottling. Get yoselves some stat! All opinions are based on my own taste buds. The baby was asleep and Mr Spittoon and had a chance to slow down and enjoy some chill out time - so why ...not do it with the Worlds Greatest Shiraz right A big thanks to Taltarni for sending over this #freesample. We enjoyed every last drop . Heres their tasting note for it and they describe its deliciousness so well: With a deep red colour and violet hue, the 2018 Pyrenees Estate Shiraz emanates aromas of red berries and light spices with earthy tones. This aroma is balanced perfectly with a medium-bodied wine that is equally rich in flavour. The addition of Mourvedre into the blend enhances the spice and the drive along the backbone of the palate. The dark forest fruits and subtle oak flavours complement the persistent dusty tannins and chocolate notes on the finish. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

09.01.2022 Wine not right I spotted this Joseph Perrier Cuve Royale 2002 Champagne on special at Dan Murphys and couldnt resist. Id say its definitely at its peak this one (probably why it was on special). However it still kicked off our night on a good note Fun fact: Joseph Perrier was once a favourite of HRH Queen Victoria, and is symbolised by the royal seal adorning each bottle.... In the glass its definitely showing its age as it has a nice golden colour to it. Cooked fruit spiked with vanilla and spice cone through on the nose. While in the mouth orchard fruits dominate with a zesty grapefruit bite. Rather refreshing for a champagne of its age. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. I received this bottle of Tassie Pinot as a lovely gift from a wonderful lady Ive done some work with in Perth (thank you Sheree!). She gave it to me over a year ago, but I got pregnant before I had time to open it. So Ive been waiting for the right moment to crack it now that the bub is here. 05.01.2022 Who’s doing some at home wine and food matching this weekend? It’s one of my favourite things to do. I typically pick the wine (or wines ) I want to consume and then find a recipe/s to match. Which is why I absolutely loved the media sample pack I received from Wine Selectors (thank you!!) recently which is a collab with Chef Miguel Maestre. This 6-pack of wine comes with a deliciously curated recipe book by Miguel. If you love Spanish food, then you’ll drool at the sound of... these recipes. The recipe to match this Heirloom Vineyards Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills is Tigres Romesco Coulis aka stuffed mussels They sound so freakin delicious! And the wine? Well that was definitely delicious! From it’s pale yellow colour to the crisp aromas of citrus, herbs and florals on the nose - it simply oozes freshness. In the mouth itvs juicy and light with pears and lemons coming through. I can just imagine having it at lunchtime with those mussels Anyone else hungry and thirsty now? This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. 05.01.2022 I love Riesling! And I especially love my Riedel Performance Riesling wine glasses I got for Christmas - they are immensely sexy wine glasses I was excited to pour this sample bottle of the Dandelion Vineyards Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling 2020 into my glasses. Thank you for the sample guys! This South Australian Riesling is a dry Riesling and is only 11% ABV - so a great option if you’re looking for a lower alcohol dry white wine. And by the amount of juicy ...acidity, I’d say this $27.50 bottle will age very well in the cellar too In the glass it has brilliant yellow-gold clarity. Citrus peel, crisp green apples and fresh minerality rise up from the glass to tickle the nostrils. While in the mouth it’s absolutely thirsty quenching - plenty of citrus and apples make it super approachable and a darn right pleasure to drink. This #wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. 05.01.2022 Heres your excuse to drink today (if you need one that is) Whats your favourite Pinot Noir?

04.01.2022 Ros and comfort food - heck yes! Growing up my mum made sausage swirls which are pastry, sausage, potato and cheese swirls. And now theyre my go-to comfort food - however I add a jar of jalapeos for a bit of a kick I thought theyd be a great match to this bottle of Lansdowne 2019 Pinot Ros which we were sent as a sample from Good Pair Days (thanks guys!). Only a small quantity of this wine was made (177 cases in fact) due to extreme weather conditions that year.... If you want to give it a whirl, and/or try out the Good Pair Days experience, make sure to add the code travellingcorkscrew for a discount at the checkout I felt like I was watching the sunset as the red-y orange like liquid was poured into my glass. On the nose it had me thinking about wild strawberries , tangerine and pink grapefruit. While in the mouth its smooth and hella delicious. Refreshing, comforting and bloody yum. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. By using the above promo code I will receive a small amount of commission. 04.01.2022 Hello new release 2020 Sauvignon Blanc from Jane Brook Estate Wines in Perth’s Swan Valley! Which by the way picked up a gold medal at the recent Swan Valley Wine Show A big thank you to Jane Brook for sending over this Sauv for us to taste The grapes for this Sauvy are sourced from their Shovelgate Vineyard in Margaret River.... It had me craving something like fish tacos or fish’n’chips. I was definitely feeling the seafood vibes from it. In the glass it’s a pale yellow hue with lovely herbaceous and spicy notes intermingled with fresh pineapple and nashi pear rise from the glass. Passionfruit and lemon zest dominate the palate for me. It’s crisp and super flavoursome. This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. 03.01.2022 I do love me a red wine matched to a bbq feast. Mr Spittoon recently cooked up some sausages and meatball + halloumi skewers and they went down a treat with this limited release Shiraz. Black and blue berries, warmth and spice rise from the glass. While in the mouth it’s incredibly moreish with plentiful flavours of forest berries and vanilla spice. Very easy to consume This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. 03.01.2022 When you find a great sparkling red wine , there’s no turning back. Sparkling red is an occasion in itself and it’s perfect for roast night I was kindly sent this bottle of @whicherridgewines 2013 Redtail Sparkling Red to taste (thank you Cathy & Neil!) and I kindly shared it with my Dad ... What makes this vino special? It’s a blend of 90% Shiraz and 10% Viognier The Shiraz grapes are from the Frankland River and the Viognier grapes are from their vineyard in Chapman Hill, WA It’s named after the endangered Redtail black cockatoos (which visit the Whicher Ridge property in summertime) It’s matured in older French Oak barrels for 2 years prior to being bottled Once bottles it spends a further 4 years on yeast lees prior to being released A lot of work goes into this wine and oh my it’s worth it. Top quality Aussie sparkling red Think a dark black plum colour in the glass with ruby red tinges. It’s full of sweet baking spice, and abundance of berries, hint of florals, lick of chocolate and silky smooth texture Have you tried it? Or do you want to? You won’t regret it Thanks for modeling Dad . . . . #winesamples #whicherridgewines #sparklingred #sparklingredwine #sparklingshiraz #perthwine #aussiewine #australianwine #tcweekdaywine #wine #travellingcorkscrew #winetasting #wineandfood #wineanddine #winelovers #winelover #wineoclock @ Australia

02.01.2022 Listen up Prosecco lovers - I have an organic Prosecco from Orange in New South Wales to introduce you to. Firstly though, a big thank you to See Saw Wine for sending over this sample. It was lucky to last 5 minutes in our place. Plus how good does it look with my new Apron from Aldi See Saw Wines produce sustainably made, organic wine from the cool climate of Orange. And their wines are vegan friendly too.... Justin and Pip Jarrett are the lovely couple behind the brand and their latest sustainability project has involved establishing solar cells for a bore pump on one of the vineyards to help reduce carbon emissions further This 2020 Prosecco is available for $25 via seesawwine.com. They are the only brand in the Orange region to have planted the Prosecco grape - Glera. It sits at a friendly 10% abv. We found it a soft lemon shade in the glass with plentiful bubbles. On the nose it smells of freshly cut apples and pears with a hint of flowers. While in the mouth its super juicy and refreshing with a yummy crunchy texture. Delish! 01.01.2022 Who loves a sparkling red wine? I actually don’t drink that many of them, but every time I do, I love them! There’s something about those frothy pink bubbles I was sent this Connor Park Sparkling Shiraz sample for the recent online Bendigo wine tasting I was invited to (thank you!).... It went down a treat and the suggestion to match it to olive tapenade had me craving the pairing so bad! If you’re keen to get to know the Bendigo wine region from the comfort of your couch, then there’s still 3 more sessions coming up on the next 3 Fridays of the month. Head to the blog (link in profile) for more info In the glass this bubbly red is a festive ruby red colour. It’s sweet and dry at the same time with black and red fruit coming through for me. While on the palate it’s more of an off dry style for me with juicy blackberry and spice notes. Very easy to consume which could be dangerous due to its high ABV This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds.
