15.01.2022 In the current climate of COVID-19 it is more important than ever to ensure the protection of older adults, and those with underlying chronic conditions, against vaccine preventable diseases. Maximizing uptake of existing vaccines for respiratory diseases, such as influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia, reduces the annual burden of disease including increased mortality, morbidity and healthcare costs particularly in at-risk populations. From 1st July 2020 the Australian Nat...ional Immunisation Program Schedule was updated to include funded Prevenar13 (pneumococcal vaccine) for anyone 70 years or older. Have you a family member or friend who is eligible? Speak with your immunisation practitioner for more details. #vaccineswork #travelhealthpractitioner #pneumococcalvaccines https://www.vaccines4life.com//Pneumococcal-Pneumonia-Join

11.01.2022 You may be receiving a reminder letter in the post soon from Services Australia On 1 July the recommended age for older Australians to receive the funded pneumococcal vaccine changed from 65 to 70 years. Vaccination against shingles is still recommended for people from 70 years of age. The current shingles vaccine is ‘live attenuated’, which means the vaccine is contraindicated in some people.... If you receive a reminder letter, please visit your immunisation provider discuss any funded vaccinations you may be eligible for. #travelhealthpractitioner #vaccineswork

09.01.2022 "By securing multiple COVID-19 vaccines we are giving Australians the best shot at early access to a vaccine, should trials prove successful," Mr Morrison said. Health Minister Greg Hunt said Australia had invested in a range of vaccines including two protein vaccines, one mRNA, and a viral vector-type vaccine. He reiterated that the vaccines would be free, optional, and priority would be given to vulnerable people and frontline workers.... for some positive research data in the next month. #travelhealthpractitioner #vaccines #covid19 #phase3

05.01.2022 Last month in June 2020, Australia had only 213 cases of influenza, compared with a year ago in June 2019, when we had over 57,000 cases, a result of current public health and infection control measures, including #socialdistancing, #handhygiene, and #flu #vaccinations. Statistics from the Immunisation Coalition and Professor Erwin Loh.
04.01.2022 From 1 July 2020 there will be changes to the immunisation schedule designed to improve protection against meningococcal and pneumococcal disease.
