25.01.2022 Day 93 Sunday 20th September 2020 Just remembered i didnt post this days activity Actually not much happened a quiet day as i planned Woke at 5- realised i am 70- the world is still spinning Had a leisurely swim... Walk on The beach and even though van park was full, not another soul on the beach Quick shower and intended to have a chamoagne breakfast at the Bar and grill across the road Had a very nice, different breakie but no champagne- 10am for alcohol So Baked Pumpkin on sour dough- spinach Asparagus Smoked Salmon 2 poached eggs Baked Tomato Hollandaise- yummo When i returned a gift basket had been left at my van from my family Back to the beach Swimming- Reading ... repeat Was going back to the Tavern for dinner but decided to cook at the van Sat out on the sand till late So i started my 71st year without alcohol Thank you for all your good wishes Overwhelmed at the number of family and friends who sent messages See more



22.01.2022 Day 92 Saturday 19th September Left Fishery Falls at 9am, sunny headed back north and stopped to buy supplies for a week at Ellis Beach- stopped at Red Lynch Found a bakery and bought two cornish pasties for lunch Checked into Ellis Beach Front Great site right on the beach... Here for 7 days ( only one day tuesday the only forecasted rainy day) So i will post a few pics just to keep the travel blog updated There will be little news G See more

21.01.2022 Day 162 Sunday 29th November Left Urunga around 9 Called into Macksville for some food Then onto Scotts Head Been here several times but usually holidaying in a house... Never at the van park Lots of improvements since last time Reflections Scotts Head i fully recommend I was earkybso went looking for coffee Bakery on holidays for 3 weeks Lots missing out on their pies and apple turnovers However i found Osca andCo Coffee , gifts and some food Tobys coffee and Almond Oinespple Blueberry Cake Coukd up with friends ( Jan , George, Marie and Bob) Nice swim at the main beach Beautiful day - sorry those of u in the Hunter/ Newcastle After dinner drinks Wind up in middle of night had to get up and put the awning down and pack up furniture Booked in at Diamond Head NP Monday night Getting closer Ready to be home See more

21.01.2022 Day 95 Tuesday 22 September 2020 The predicted rain did not eventuate Well on this day at Ellis Beach just swam and snoozed in my beach chair Took a few pics but as my good friend Ann Gillett commented are u sure you are not recycling the pics Well no i am not but i sit in the same spot, walk the same beach and just press the button... 18.01.2022 94th Day Monday 21st September Gee think i should have had a drink yesterday- woke with what seemed to be a hangover Early on the beach fir walk and swim- again only one on the beach Lazy morning- then decided i need to find some energy- so started to clean out the van- mistky oacking away winter clothes - shouldn’t need out west Then i attacked the pantry and kitchen cupboards 2.5 Cleaning Spray, 2 washing up Liquid , 6 different insect sprays - no wonder room is at a premi...um Decided on meals for the rest of the week and that i would have hot lunches and lite dinners for rest of the week A few more pics but generally just pointing the camera from my chair at the van - so all similar sorrloveky pool here but Why? 16.01.2022 Day 156 Monday 23rd November Still at Iluka Swimming at both beach and bay Booked into Woody Head - wednesday/ thursday Had breakfast at Laneway Cafe... Really good coffee/ well cooked eggs on siur dough - yes i know a bit lazy Wind up again with storm clouds made for a nuce sunset No rain See more

16.01.2022 Day 159 Thursday 26th November Spent another nice day here Sunrise, swim in the Lagoon and Rock Pool Went for a walk to Back Beach and back through bush land The lagoon is great, so many fish... Kangaroos came for a visit Lizards if all sizes ( no 22v so without phone for pics most of the day I will certainly be back The psrk is terrific, must do a post thanking them Anyone coming here i hsd sute I1 I thought great site See more

16.01.2022 Day 99 Saturday 26 September So i left Ellis Beach reluctantly, however u can only cope with paradise for so long Headed to Redlynch for fuel and supplies Then south through territory already visited ( gordonvale , babinda ,Innisfail,mission beach) Had a look at Rotary donation camp... Probably should have stayed here 2 weeks ago instead of Drew Park In stead of relying on comments by grey nomads ( well some) oh well Stopped off in Tully for coffee, cardwell ( lunch )and Ingham Cardwell as i remembered nearly 40 years ago- some development of course but generally improvements Foreshore park is excellent Stopped at Hinchinbrook Lookout and stayed Bluewater Van Park- old park needs work but ok for o/night stay - on Highway but surprisingly quiet- huge sites lots of permanents Tomorrow west to charters towers Highlight was obviously catching up with Power Group Finders 1 and 2 ( aka Priscilla and Kevin) nicer people you wouldn’t meet They are travelling/ I am travelling amazing we could catch up in this big wide land ( now to see Power members 3 ,4,6 and 7) See more

15.01.2022 Day 160 Friday 27th November Reluctantly left Woody Head Had to go to McLean to my favourite Cafe and a Botero Fix See checkin post Then onto Grafton for some groceries ... Couldn’t decide where to stsy tonight Went into Wooli, nice beach, had a swim Didnt like the van park much, so back on the highway and here i am in Urunga Staying two nights Been here several times and it doesn’t disappoint Hopefully the pub had brains on the menu tomorrow night Had a seim in ghe lagoon- a bit chilly but tomorrow is supposed to be hot See more

14.01.2022 Day 90 Thursday 17th September Rained all night I was okay ( parked on bitumen)but those parked on grass had a few inches of water Campers were quiet, lots coming and going during night only one toilet in each ( mf) Rubbish overflowing Would i stay again - not by choice... Drove on to Babinda for breakfast Groceries and out to the Babinda Boulders ( what attracts me to granite rocks?) Pouring rain, track to the boulders and devils pool under water However i did find there is a donation camp out there ( 1 van) - even in the rain looked quite good Cant see it listed anywhere So onto Fishery Falls Van Park which even in rain is quite nice I was put in the lower section by the creek- in dry weather would have been great- asked to move to upper section with cement pad - no problem doing that Rained all day none stop Read all day - see checkin in post i fully recommend this park Small world- a friend told me that their friends were in the park- went looking for them checking all nsw plates - turned out right next to me They are Queenslanders- haha ( thks Nellie ) Woke to rain and more rain No wonder the gardens and vegetation here is so nice Staying another night then onto Ellis Beach See more



11.01.2022 Day 91 Friday 18th September Anyone see this post I did it last night and it seems to have vanished ? So i will try again Rain all night... Woke to rain Cleared up so went to check out the creek- banks a little steep so devided tondo 1.5 hiyrcreturn to Fishery Falls Steep in places Boardwalk closed ( covid - really?) So oucs not that good Saw 3 black snakes - two good sized ones, one having breakfast- green tree frog I think and a juvenile Lots of leeches Had a swim in the pool Finished anither book Tomorrow i head nirth sgain to Ellis Beach See more

11.01.2022 Day 89 Wednesday 16th September Fairly heavy rain last night Packed up and left about 9 Called into Bingil Bay, where i had been previously. It has grown in terms of housing but nothing else has changed- beautiful beach even though raining Coukdnt resist breakfast at the Bingle Bay cafe- excellent coffee... Eggs on Rye - quite a quirky place Dont remember it from 30 years ago Then onto Etty Bay, ( gave Garner Beach a miss- missed turnoff and too narrow to turn around) Etty was really nice - half a swim ( meaning i managed to get wet in the sea) but much wetter from the rain Would have loved to stay but the very small van park had no vacancies u til 4/10 Moved on to Innisfail, pouring rain so kept going It has grown a lot since last here Probably worth a look but with rain decided to move on Decided to stop at Fred Drew Roadside ( Actually is a Driver Reviver stop by Rotary on weekends) maybe 29 campers here mid afternoon Showers on and off As i write this its really filling up See tomorrow’s report as to what i think of it Onto Fishery Falls tomorrow G See more

10.01.2022 Day 97 24th Thursday September See yesterday except Lunch Pulled Pork Salad- Caramel glazed Warm Pulled pork with salad of lettuce, spinach, cherry toms , cucumber, capsicum, green papaya, peanuts , coriander thai dressing And a few campari and orange... Carrot cake fir dinner See more

10.01.2022 Day 163 Monday 30th November Bit of a head ache this morning (Drinks with Jan and George, Marie snd Bob) Wild night wind got up and although protected a bit by the trees, had to put awning in about 1am and furniture in a bit later Had 5:45 swim at both beaches... Packed up Went for coffee at Oska Andco ( just coffee) Said goodbye to the guys Noticed bakery was open so bought a spinach roll and apple turnover fir Den Into Macksville for coffee with Vicki and Bob ( ex coworkers at Nelson Bay RSL all those moons ago) Then south again to Diamond Head Camping ground in the Crowdy NP Nice camp ground, clean and tidy Amenities very clean Water a little chilly So now just thinking about dinner and working out where to stay for my last night Home Wednesday Any suggestions See more

05.01.2022 Day 158 Wednesday 25th November Early morning coolish seim in the bay- finished packing- walked into beach then back fir a coffee at Laneway - closed- back to The Boatshed Cafe - yippee it was opened Grocery shopping then mived the 5 klm to Woody Wow - see my checkin post I will be back to both Iluka and here... Spent day expliring the lagoon, rock shelf and rock pool Swimming, reading Homemade rissoles and greens for dinner Nice sunset but thought it might be better 12v battery system closed down overnight- ongoing issue See more

02.01.2022 Day 155 Sunday 22nd November Okay so my last day at Iluka Early morning swim Breakfast at the van Wind getting up... 02.01.2022 Day 98 Friday 25th September So same old same old Last swims and walking Ellis Beach My favourite holiday spot Amazing week here... Went to the Bar and Grill for Lunch Excellent salt and pepper squid Dare i put this on the wish list for my 80th Posting now as i will have an early night - leaving early in the morning Have to stock up on personal supplies to last me 3 months Thats if i do make it that long Another first for me and something else off the wish list Last beach pic , last lunch pic and yes my uniform for this cattle station caretaking stay lol See more

01.01.2022 Day 157 Tuesday 24th November Well worst day weather wise since i hsve been away String blustery wind from Sth East started early morning and didt let up - i guess there had to be a worst day Had to basically pack up everything At least i am ready to leave tomorrow ... 01.01.2022 Day 164 Tuesday 1st December Diamond Head NP to Seal Rocks Diamond Head ( not to be confused with Diamond Beach) Nice park ( only cold showers but clean) Park is very tidy... Great beach and good swimming although chilly Gps sent me around in circles thought going back through Laurieton but no- ended up in Mooreland Onto Bungwahl @ Chaos Wow great coffee ( peruvian blend suts just behind Botero )and the best Chicken Wrap ever Nearly didn’t stop Checked in Reflections at Seal Rocks Blowing a gale- hard to keep the van on the road at times Spent morning locked up in the van Decided to brave the beach - very cool Then took a walk to the back beach which was mire protected and on to the Sugarloaf Lighthouse and Lighthouse Beach Great views of the coast line Bit hairy up on the lighthouse Last night away No champagne and no restaurant Lots of building here since my last visit but no cafe Oh well ! 01.01.2022 Day 161 Saturday 28th November Up at 5 for sunrise Walk out to beach on boardwalk Swim in Lagoon Breakfast and back to lagoon while tide was in... Coffee at Pomegranate Cafe- yummy Caramel Cheesecake Looked around town - murals This really is a nice place Checked out menu at Ocean View Pub - yes the brains were on Wind became stronger at beach, so fiund a spot in the van park to read Urunga has some great walking paths, so took a long walk Dinner at the pub and coukdnt resist the brains- had same everytime i have been here Early night See more

01.01.2022 Day 100 Sunday 27th September Damn just posted this and its disappeared Before i do blog again can someone let me know if received. Bluewater - Charters Towers Ok so i have to repost... Easy drive to Charters Towers No stopping very little traffic but a fair few stops fir roadworks Arrived to find Charters Towers had some lovely old buildings, restored and still in use or repurposed Stock Exchange Arcade with restaurant seating Bank of Nsw Royal Hotel beautiful but closed City Hall Theatre Police station Post Office Really good Museum Good to see a lot of the old shops had retained their wooden windows and leadlight signs If you are here check out Target which was an old department store I climbed tower hill bit of an effort but i made it( probably shouldn’t have as it was the middle of the day But well worth it- lots of history displayed from the Gold Rush days to the WW2 history ( during war 3000 US military based here ) After walking up and down Gill Street visited the museum then booked into Dalrymple Tourist park Great choice Very impressed with Charters towers You will have seen my check in post Tomorrow i head for Greenvale See more
