25.01.2022 Update: PM increased Australias travel to Level 4 Do not Travel Please check the status of your flights and contact your travel agent and if you havent used a travel agent then you will need to get through to the airlines if youre lucky. We have been on the ground monitoring, reading rules everyday as they continually change and often override the existing ones, if only there was that magical button to press and the system works it all out for us but there isnt, I still... have over 12 different airlines, accommodation and tours in various countries and 5 people overseas soon to head home and multiple bookings to work out over the next few months. This isnt a poor me story but reality, we are not making any money, its been this way since the start of 2020, way before it started affecting other local businesses in Australia, so whilst I feel a heavy heart for everyone, it does affect our industry the most, and we dont even get a mention on the media of all the hours, days we have been putting into this chaos on a daily basis but we still soldier on. When things get better it isnt an immediate fix, this will take at least a year to recover if not longer. Thank you to colleagues, friends and clients who check in and just ask those 3 simple words, are you okay? On a positive have you seen some pictures around the world, clearer skies and waters, places that look so beautiful with nature coming back into play, its magical and impressive regardless of why or how this has happened maybe it was a sign to show us if we took better care of our world, oh the things we could enjoy. 20.01.2022 How was your weekend? On Sunday morning I went to Italy and back. It was virtual but keeping the dream!! We went to Venice and saw highlights of Carnevale and visited a shop of authentic beautiful made masks, followed by the most interesting bookstore in the world that even homes a full sized gondola full of books. If only I could have had a spritz and Ciccheti whilst there but we had to hop back on the Jet plane to our next stop Tuscany, Cascate Del Mulino, a hot springs th...at I would love to take a dip in and spend time travelling through the magical and picturesque landscape. Next stop was the Italian Soccer in Rome and also the introduction to various types of pizza that get your tastebuds dancing and if you want the authentic food experience there is one little place in Naples that will surely be memorable. After all that talk about food we took a hike at the Amalfi Coast with views so incredible, you just want to stand there all day and soak it all in. Our last stop was Catania to the famous fish market, followed by views of Mt Etna and just before we headed off we had time for some freshly made treats like cannoli. 12.01.2022 Let me tell you a short, little story.. Before I began in travel I did the hard yards in studying in Travel and Tourism, which wasnt easy back in 2000, many days, many hours with many tests. To get into the travel industry you had to have experience and knowledge and go through several interviews, basically they wouldnt just take anyone, so you can imagine that when you receive a phone call to let you know they have a position , you know youve made it!! Back then there w...as no internet, so not everything was at our fingertips, we would talk to you like we still do today to ask those important questions. We would make calls and walk you through options that suited your needs and check out the benefits and create the magical holiday experience that you came to us for. Then things changed with internet browsers where things became online and we had to change and adapt like most industries. Then travel became deregulated which brought in faceless online companies without any personable experiences and you dont even know in which country your money is going, what currency its being paid in or who you will get on the other end of the phone when things go wrong, because theres no emotional relationship between you and them. We (if I can say we) have been there through the tough times with our clients, through unforeseen circumstances, being natural, personal and others. We are the ones you can ring and know that we are on your side. We are on the phones for hours in front of our systems with pen and paper in hand working out all the possibilities to remove the stress from you; to either get you where you need to be or get you back home or change plans or work out cancellations where need be.
