25.01.2022 Some good news for those stuck overseas and wanting to come home. Hopefully the airlines can release more seats and we can start to clear some of the backlog.

23.01.2022 As the sun sets on 2020, to say this year has had it's ups and downs is an understatement. As a nation we have had it all from droughts to bushfires to floods and lockdowns. To see the industry I love being totally decimated has certainly been disheartening. I have shared in the disappointment of my clients having their dream adventures cancelled and the arduous task of unpicking all the planning we had done together. We have had our hopes raised when domestic borders starte...d to open up, then dashed shortly after with them closing again. On the other hand I have had the pleasure of helping multiple people return to Australia when their other plans have failed, many of whom I had not previously met. So, I would like to take this time to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this year and to let you know that even though I am taking on "other work" (part time) I am still here for your NSW and domestic travel needs and plan to be around for the long haul when we can all travel relatively freely again. When I look around at the rest of the world and how they are coping (or not) with COVID, I am thankful that we live here in our little Australian bubble. Here's to a better 2021 - Happy New Year. 20.01.2022 In March 1990 I embarked on my first work trip or as we like to say in the industry an educational or a famil (short for familiarisation tour). The photos are a bit dodgey along with my memory but that was a sign of the times no mobile phones with cameras back then The trip was a mega famil to Indonesia where they had invited 200 agents, we were split into groups of around 10 and sent to the various islands that make up Indonesia, at the end we all met up in Jakarta ...for a gala dinner. My first stop was Bali for 2 nights, where we did a quick wiz around Sanur and Nusa Dua, inspecting many hotels. It is no use me posting about these as they are no longer relevant to today .. and I don’t seem to have any photos. We then boarded a flight to Semarang on the island of Java, which was an experience in itself with condensation running down the inside of the windows and the plane shuddering when taking off and landing Upon arrival we headed up to Dieng Plateau which is a volcanic area with bubbling thermal pools , it is also home to the oldest Hindu architecture in Java, most dating back to the 8th and 9th centuries. Our next stop was to Bandung, the capital of West Java. My father used to visit here with the Airforce in the 70’s and 80’s, so it was great to see where he had been. Here we had the opportunity to wander through a great local market where there was a street lined with shoe stalls and another with filled denim, Kath and Kim would have loved it. Somewhere along the line we had an overnight stay in Yogyakarta where we visited a night club that had squat toilets, from memory it was quite an experience after a couple of drinks. One thing I most certainly won’t forget is coming home with a fat lip how you may ask? Well, I had decided to go for a swim on our last night (after the gala dinner), I dove into the pool and started swimming, to my surprise I came to a sudden halt when I hit, face first, into a set of steps in the middle of the pool and put my tooth through my lip . that is the story I have stuck to for 30 years anyway. I would love to hear some of your throwback travel stories. #throwbacktravel #indonesia #travelmanagersbowenmountain See more
19.01.2022 The end of an era.
19.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending the weekend in Mudgee with some of my travel colleagues. It was a great few days tasting the delights of Mudgee wines and produce, while sharing our stories of how we were coping with what COVID-19 has thrown at us. Here is a little article in one of our trade magazines about our adventure.

14.01.2022 Can't think of what to get a loved one for Christmas, then how about a Travel Gift Certificate? International travel borders may be closed but our domestic ones are opening, Queensland is even letting in Sydneysiders! Before you know it Western Australia may decide to join the rest of us - or should I say let us join them over there. Put this on your Santa list. #thinkbigshopsmall #shopsmallbusiness #holidayherethisyear #shoplocal

11.01.2022 After all the twists and turns of the mountains it was time to hit the straights of the west, driving from Tumbarumba to Coolamon where we stayed in the gorgeous Sweet Briar B&B. I can highly recommend a stop in this country town just 35 mins from Wagga Wagga and the same again to Junee where the famous Junee Licorice and Chocolate factory is a must - although I have to admit the chocolates and licorice we bought have already been devoured. Today we headed out to Narromine and of course we had to stop at The Dish for a photo op. #Coolamon #thedish #narromine #HolidayHereThisYear
11.01.2022 Episode 8 of the Modern Explorer is "South Georgia's Dark History" focusing on the impact humans have had on this remote Island and how it has recovered and become home to an abundance of wildlife. #adventureworldtravel #linbladnationalgeographic #togetherintravel #travelmanagersbowenmountain
11.01.2022 Now is an exciting time for travel-loving Australians. As we begin to venture out of our homes and see our borders open again, the question becomes, where to next? We are lucky to live in such a beautiful and diverse country, where many unique wonders can be found right in our backyards. With initiatives such as Crooked Compass' Outback of NSW tour launching in June 2020 there are now new opportunities for us to discover these. The tour takes you to areas often overlooked and... provides the rare chance to see restricted access historic sites with an accredited Indigenous guide. This outback tour and the other deals listed below just scratch the surface of what Australia has on offer. 11.01.2022 Last night I had the pleasure of staying in a Tiny House on the property Beverdale in Braidwood. The main homestead of Beverdale was built in 1842 and stayed in the same family until 1972. It is National Trust and Heritage listed and still has the original furniture. Whilst going for a stroll around the property which still runs cattle we were lucky enough to see a calf that had been born a few minutes prior to us coming upon it. This is such a great area to visit. #holidayherethisyear #shoplocal

10.01.2022 THROW BACK THURSDAY: Bring on the high fringe and perm as we travel back in time to Christmas & New Year of 93/94 when hubby and I embarked on our first big overseas trip together. On our way to visiting a friend who was living north of Seattle we stopped in at Anaheim and Los Angeles visiting all the iconic places such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, 6 Flags , Hollywood, Venice Beach and downtown LA. Once we had had our fun being big kids we headed north to Bellingham wh...ich is a university town north of Seattle. Here we picked and chopped down our own Christmas tree and had Christmas lunch in the back of a pick up truck in the snow fields . Next we stayed at a place called Leavenworth which is a Bavarian style in the Cascade Mountains. Here we had a ball down hill skiing under lights where it was so cold that my hair froze. We also attempted to cross country ski by the moon light and what we thought would be a track of about 1km ended being 5km We then headed into Seattle for New Years Eve in an underground comedy club and also took in an ice hockey game which was brutal and super exciting. On the way home we soaked up the sun in glorious Hawaii , where I thought I would tackle the surf at Sunset Beach and I must say the surf won. Upon returning home we were met at the airport by family who advised they had evacuated our house due to bushfires - a stark reminder we were back in the land of Aus. I would love to hear about a travel first for you, it could be your first family holiday, your first overseas trip, first time on a plane - share your story
09.01.2022 "Animals of the Archipelago" is episode 3 of Modern Explorer. Still in the Falkland Islands Alizé and Tom show us penguins and birds including a raptor that is attracted to all things red. #adventureworldtravel #linbladnationalgeographic #togetherintravel #travelmanagersbowenmountain

07.01.2022 On Sunday we travelled from Braidwood to Thredbo which was certainly an experience we won't soon forget. The journey between Braidwood and Cooma is approximately 115km, one third of which is unsealed dirt road. Under normal conditions this would not be too bad but when it is raining and foggy it can be a white knuckled experience, particularly for Jason on the motorbike. We made it in one piece .....just. Yesterday's drive was a totally different experience, twisting and wi...nding our way through the mountains and high country on a reasonably sunny day from Thredbo to Tumbarumba. I can see why motorcyclists and sports car enthusiasts love this area as I felt a bit like Fangio making my way through and although the dual cab Colarado handled itself well, I would have preferred to be driving an Astin Martin . #snowymountainsnsw #khancobinnsw #snowyhydro #holidayherethisyear

06.01.2022 To say this year has been a rollercoaster is an understatement. However, this week as been a little more uplifting . Last night I had the pleasure of delivering documents for (the first time in a long time) for clients heading to the Hunter Valley on a ladies weekend away . Then today I finalised payment for a family going to Byron Bay in place of the Thailand trip they were supposed to take earlier this year . I also received gorgeous flowers from my husband with a note reassuring me I will ride this storm. I am so glad to be a part of the TravelManagers family and look forward to bigger and better things to come

03.01.2022 Had a lovely day yesterday visiting a couple of wineries in McLaren Vale. We started with Chalk Hill Winery which is reasonable new, situated on a hill overlooking the valley, lovely surrounds, great food and they are also home to Never Never Gin. Sitting outside soaking up the view while enjoying a selection of their wines and delicious food was a great way to start the day. Next was The d'Arenberg Cube, currently host to a Salvador Dali exhibition. This quirky winery had c...olourful Alice in Wonderland style chairs, great views, a wine sensory room, and an Alternative Realities Museum. Even the bathrooms were an ode to the unusual nature and oddities of this place (it took a while to figure out how the taps worked). Last but not least was Samuel's Gorge winery. This quaint boutique property had sweeping views with a tranquil outdoor area. The staff were friendly, relaxed and passionate about the wines, such a lovely way to end the day. So next time you are in Adelaide take the short drive out to McLaren Vale, you won't be disappointed. #chalkhillwinery #drenbergcube #samuelsgorgewinery #holidayherethisyear See more

02.01.2022 Two nights in Thredbo is not nearly enough with plenty of walks, it is also a mecca for mountain bikers this time of year. We made it to the top of Mt Kosciuszko where the fog was rolling in and out and telephone reception was better than at home. Lunch was spectacular at Eagles Nest Restaurant Thredbo with fantastic views over the ranges.
