23.01.2022 2021 marks my 23rd year in the travel industry and 11 years of running my own travel business in partnership with TravelManagers Australia. In February 2020 my business was thriving. I had built up a large and very loyal client base. I loved my job and the flexibility of working from home. I was in my element!! All that changed overnight when on the 19th of March, Scott Morrison announced the International border closure and Australian travel ban. My business flat-lined im...mediately. I spent the following six months working full time cancelling and amending a full years worth of bookings. Applying for refunds where possible, managing credits, deciphering ever-changing policies and procedures, chasing refunds, and eventually processing refund payments back to my clients. This process is still continuing today. It has been a devastating and traumatic time for the entire industry. This clip below from Denis Bunnik of Bunnik Tours sums up how we are feeling as an industry and the frustrations we are facing as we try to move forward. Many agencies have already collapsed and many more will follow when job keeper ends in March. The job keeper payments have kept me in business and I am extremely grateful. I am also grateful for the TravelManagers business model which means I have very few overheads and it has allowed me to pick up some temporary, part time work to supplement my income while we are unable to travel. I have many clients with thousands of dollars tied up in travel credits relying on me and I am determined to be here for them on the other side of this pandemic. TravelManagers - Karen Whitehead is still "Open for Business"!! I am still available to assist you with all your travel needs. If you're planning a trip somewhere in our amazing country this year, do your bit to assist the travel industry and book your domestic trip with a travel agent.

18.01.2022 PSA THE NORTHERN TERRITORY IS OPEN FOR VISITORS That's right! You are now able to visit the stunning NT without the need to quarantine on arrival. (This currently excludes Victoria and Greater Sydney although Greater Sydney expected to be able to travel from 9 October).... What is your favorite place in the Northern Territory? For me it's hard to narrow down to just one. I absolutely love the laid back city of Darwin and have been fortunate to visit several times. I have also had the amazing experience of driving from Albury, NSW all the way to Darwin (approx 4200 kms). We visited the iconic Uluru which lived up to all expectations and toured the sights of Alice Springs. We also spent a night at the Daly Waters Pub, swam in the pristine Mataranka Springs, sailed the impressive Katherine Gorge and took a scenic flight over beautiful Kakadu NP. The NT offers such diverse and spectacular scenery and experiences. It really should be on everyone's bucket list. If you're itching for a getaway, I am still open for business and here to assist you with all your domestic travel arrangements.
