25.01.2022 Strongest tourism growth since Sydney Olympics led by China and India The latest International Visitor Survey released last week shows international visitor spend grew by 10 per cent to a record $33.4 billion, or $3.2 billion more than the previous year. This is the strongest yearly growth since 2001, the period of the Sydney Olympic Games. China remained the dominant source of growth with a 22 per cent increase in visitor numbers (864,000) and a 32 per cent increase in expen...diture. Chinese tourists are now worth some $7 billion to the Australian economy. With China now accounting for one in every five dollars spent by international visitors, it is clear that China is vital to the sustained growth of our tourism sector. That is why the Government has announced a 10 year multiple-entry visitor visa for China (available online and in Mandarin language), and earlier this year struck a landmark aviation deal that will triple air capacity to 67,000 seats per week, between Australia and China by the end of 2016, Minister Andrew Robb said. With Australia having co-hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup earlier this year with New Zealand, India was one of the fastest growing markets with expenditure reaching a record $1 billion for the first time (up 39 per cent), while visitors increased 20 per cent to 207,000. India is now Australias 8th largest tourism market, up from 11th the previous year. Record growth in visitors was also achieved by the US market (up 9 per cent to 544,000 arrivals) and New Zealand (up 3 per cent to 1.2 million arrivals). With new records for international tourism, growth in spend not seen since the Sydney Olympic Games and a reinvigorated tourism investment pipeline, the Australian tourism industry is well positioned to prosper as one of our great economic strengths, Mr Robb said.

17.01.2022 AUSTRALIA ISSUES NEW INFORMATION FOR CHINESE VISA APPLICANTS chinese brochure for australian visa Australia has issued new brochures in Chinese to help potential arrivals from China apply for an Australian visa.... In a joint initiative the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Austrade and Tourism Australia have developed a series of bilingual promotional flyers to provide access to helpful and accurate information on visa arrangements. The first brochure concentrates on how easy it is to apply for Australian visitor visas in China, while the second provides facts about Australian visitor visas in China. The information points out that Australia has reduced documentary requirements, so the application process is easier and faster and applicants to not need to attend an interview. It also points out that there are Australian Visa Application Centres (AVACs) conveniently located close to public transport in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, with long opening hours to accept visa applications and answer questions. It is not always necessary to provide originals of documents needed for a visa application. For example, if you lodge an application in person at an AVAC, you dont need your original passport. Australia is also currently piloting electronic lodgement of visitor visa applications in China. For tourists, a multiple-entry visa is usually available for numerous visits to Australia within one year, with a stay period of up to three months on each entry. A longer period of stay may be granted depending on your personal circumstances. All visa applications are processed by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and applicants are encouraged to provide a secure email address, since once a decision has been made on an application officials can sent out the result directly. While visitors are in Australia, they are covered by Australias consumer protection laws which require all businesses to treat consumers fairly. The Australian Government provides information on consumer rights to ensure that consumers are aware of their rights when purchasing products or services during their visit to Australia, said a DIBP spokesman. Travellers who believe they have been treated unfairly by a business while in Australia can lodge a complaint with a consumer protection agency in Australia, the spokesman added. http://australia-visa.net.au
