23.01.2022 Are you looking for ways to support your child’s mental health over this funny period in our lives? I can’t speak more highly of the @grow your mind programs and resources. Especially their home kits. These aren’t just for kids already experiencing challenges. These are tools for all kids (& adults). We all need our mental health. No one is immune. Perfect time to make it a priority I say

22.01.2022 Why not start with a little post about what Occupational Therapists actually do for kids/teens. "Dont we just find people jobs?" I get asked all the time (less now than 10 years ago thankfully). Actually OTs are all about assisting people to fulfil their valued roles in life ie. what occupies them. For children and teens it is about ensuring that nothing gets in the way of general development, play, socialising and just being able to participate in all the things a child sh...ould. We look at the barriers to this and work with family, educators, other health professionals and of course the child/adolescent themselves to overcome these barriers. #Occupational Therapy #paediatricoccupationaltherapy #mentalhealth #childdevelopment #autism #socialemotional #anxiety #motorskills #handwriting #schoolreadiness #sensoryprocessing #attention #behaviour #selfesteem #socialskills #mudgeeregionOT #centralwestNSW See more

22.01.2022 The amazing ladies at Grow Your Mind have just launched a childrens mental health podcast. As our precious ones are so susceptible to what they see and hear around them maybe think about what you can do as a family to support them to feel calm, safe and allow them to focus on what children should be focusing on....the joy in all things this game of life has to offer. Play and fun have never been more relevant...from a distance of course https://growyourmind.life/pages/gym-podcast

20.01.2022 I just rediscovered one of my most favourite Dan Siegel videos. A must watch for those kids who you're trying to pry away from behind your skirt.

12.01.2022 What a brilliant message from Hamish Blake about Mental Health and trying to fit in!

03.01.2022 So...I have just discovered something fabulous that is too good not to share. Has anyone heard of NSW Rock Drop? It is like a hide and seek of painted rocks throughout NSW. Such an awesome way to encourage creativity, curiosity, exploration and adventure. Thank you to the lovely family that shared this with me. These lovely ideas make my heart sing! https://www.facebook.com/groups/NSWROCKS/permalink/1825380924457631/

02.01.2022 As we move into the holiday period it is a timely reminder that transitions are times of big change and can impact our children/teens greatly. The anticipation (a mix of anxiety and excitement) about the holidays and what is to come in the new year, layered with exhaustion from a big and busy year means all too often the wheels can fall off in stunning ways. It can be helpful to remember that holidays are not just to give our body a break from going to school/pre-school but a...lso to give our kids minds a break from thinking about school and all the subtle complexities that go with it. This means, find out as much as you can now about what will happen next year, before the year is out. Talk about it now and then try to have a break from even thinking & talking about next year at all. This gives everyone a chance to be present with their family, enjoy what they are doing and really relax into the holidays, enabling nervous systems to completely calm in preparation for another big year.
