25.01.2022 REMEMBERING RED DOG On November 21, 1979 exactly 40 years ago today Pilbara legend Red Dog was put to rest. Red Dog was a friendly kelpie-cross who li...ved his life hitching rides and travelling throughout WAs Pilbara region, and even as far south as Perth. He is believed to have been born in Paraburdoo in 1971 and has touched the lives of people in Australia and around the globe after his story was made into a feature film in 2011. Red Dog is buried in an unmarked grave somewhere between Roebourne and Cossack and a memorial statue is located on the outskirts of Dampier. R.I.P. mate : Red Dog WA

17.01.2022 There is an analogy that can be made here, with policy makers who continue to legislate based on the wish list of those who want nothing more than to see the demise of our farmers, fishers, foresters..... they dont know sheep. #greenshirtsmovement #greenshirtsmovementQLD

11.01.2022 Final update on the historic wall art mural at 24A Victoria Street, as it is now completed, and here is the finished product. I noticed this morning that if yo...u look closely, the gentleman (on the back wall of the Nextra Newsagency building) has the small image of a ship in his eye. Just beautiful, and so meaningful. Something special to represent a convict that came here and the story around him that followed involving the timber industry. Adding the last shades of colour has brought out the beauty of these images, painted from different photographs. With thanks to John and Julie George who were the ones behind commissioning this art, the Vukelic Group, Bunbury Fringe Festival 2019, Ketones6000, Mr Chrisa, and Six Two Three Zero. Jerome Davenport Visual Artist It was such an honour to watch this project progress. Julie, your vision of this theme becoming a reality means so much to many of us. This representation of a convict who became a "pillar of society" and being able to celebrate his story is something close to a large number of locals. <3

02.01.2022 Ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes to fight a bushfire? Our mobile incident control centre can be deployed and fully operational in less than 13 hour...s. Here, the incident controller leads an interagency team to respond to a major fire. Each of the sea containers are purpose-built to house teams of people who work on planning, logistics, operations, resources and public information. At the centre of everything, the communications bus has its own satellite capacity and power supply so staff and volunteers on-site can operate as they would in any other office. Were ready to respond this bushfire season, but fire preparedness is a shared effort.
