11.01.2022 If they pay more, prescriptions may increase as well. . A recent study showed that gifts to GPs are common and associated with less rational drug prescriptions for patients and more expenses for the National Health Insurance. Although causality must not be assumed, the results of [the] study are in line with the existing literature and reinforce the hypothesis that pharmaceutical companies influence GPs’ prescribing patterns. . It’s a bit scary to know that a patients best... interest at time’s can be put behind financial gains by the health profession. . Unfortunately we still do not live in a time where healthcare primarily looks after the most vulnerable and instead looks to manipulate the vulnerable for financial gain. . Let’s make sure there are more health professionals around that actually care and went into the healthcare field to help and not to primarily make tons of money. . Find a professional that cares, listens, asks, empathises, explains, and follows up on you instead of one that tells, writes, prescribes and sends you out the door. . 08.01.2022 Not really. . Modest weight loss and reduction in some cardiovascular risk factors is possible when following a range of popular diets for six months (compared with usual diet); whether the diets are low fat or low carbohydrate. . A more limited number of studies show that there is little to choose between popular diets after 12 monthsweight loss diminishes, along with the associated cardiovascular benefits.... . So, how should we health professionals advise patients who want or need to lose weight? . It doesn’t matter what diet you’re on macronutrient wise. Reducing your dietary energy intake will result in modest weight loss after six months. . The extensive range of popular diets provide a plethora of choice but no clear winner. So conversations should shift away from specific choice of diet and focus instead on how best to maintain any weight loss achieved. . Reference: Truby Helen, Haines Terry P.
