22.01.2022 Here's lookin' at you kid! They grow up so fast... A few weeks after hatching, the next generation has started looking rather scrappy. Genders have yet to make themselves known... I will not be hosting a gender-reveal.

10.01.2022 This gorgeous ground-nesting Masked Bee (native) and it's numerous loosely-affiliated relations are nesting en-masse in a Kotara backyard. Certainly the need for such bees to have access to dry open ground means they are strongly competing with us for real estate. Worth keeping your eyes peeled and not spraying pesticides around... Especially not outside the confines of your abode.

08.01.2022 Not sure if it would be worth the inevitable pain, introducing a colony of Bull Ants to your garden to control caterpillars.... But I guess it depends on your level of desperation!! I find most native wasps to be far less aggressive.

05.01.2022 My joy from last Friday spiked having found a Marbled Scorpion disturbed from some mulch. Such curious beasts and a well-adapted beneficial predator for the garden!! Also exceptionally good at playing dead it turns out... a good reminder that the most capable predators can find themselves to be prey...

02.01.2022 I'm going to sleep better at night once these cob blocks are ready to roll out!! They will supplement nesting space for the ground-nesting Masked bees in previous post. Very excited to see their bee-haviour once the blocks are set up.
