25.01.2022 I love my rainbow washing line at the moment! We had lots of fun in our Junior Family class yesterday with colourful scarves, bean bags and a large rainbow elastic. Everyone had fun trying to do yoga poses with the bean bags balancing on their body, using big breaths to blow to scarves across their mat, and we used the rainbow ribbon in a circle for group games. Junior Kids Yoga isn’t just yoga, it can include dancing, stories, songs and games #kidsyoga #kidsyogabrisbane #brisbanekids #preschoolyoga #childrensactivities

23.01.2022 We love trying out partner poses at Tree Kids Yoga. Here are some lovely families in Double Downward Dog and King Dancer. I’ve also popped in a little throw back to 2013 when my sister and I decided to take photos of ourselves doing yoga in Hong Kong Way before Insta Yoga was a thing Partner poses and games are an essential part of Kids and Family Yoga classes. They help to make yoga accessible, fun and playful for kids ... Family Yoga classes are held at West End on Saturdays, or private in-home classes can be arranged.
22.01.2022 How sweet is this! Children can learn yoga from a young age, and through their practice, they can connect with their body, breathing and mind
22.01.2022 I actually like this accidental Sia-esque photo from my holiday I spent a few days this week in the beautiful Lamington National Park in SE Queensland with my family. After a massive term of full-time teaching and running a kids & family yoga business on the side, it felt wonderful to relax with my loved ones in nature. Quality time, bush walks, waterfalls and a few wildlife encounters ticked all the boxes #naturelovers #brisbane #queensland #brisbanekids
22.01.2022 One-off Private Family Yoga Classes I taught a private family yoga class this afternoon for a mother and daughter who were looking for a special activity to do this weekend. A Family Yoga class could be a wonderful weekend activity for you and your kids to try.... Family classes are fun, but also relaxing, and involve yoga, meditation and relaxation, games and partner activities. It is beautiful to watch families connect with each other as they learn something new together. I am available on Saturday afternoons for one-off private classes (or I also have a spot in my regular group class). I can cater for families of 2 to 6 people and would charge $75 for a private 60 minute class. Let me know if you'd like to book in, or please pass this onto any friends in Brisbane who might be interested!
21.01.2022 This week, we played with scented play dough! In our younger Family and Primary class, we talked about different feelings we experience and then used pieces of nature to create faces. We talked about strategies to cope with big feelings. In our older Family class yesterday, we closed our eyes and meditated - focusing on what we could notice using our other senses as our hands enjoyed moulding the play dough. ...
20.01.2022 Not that I have favourites, but this Primary class makes my week! These students are 8 to 12 years old. As a Kindy teacher who has only ever taught children under 6, I was most nervous about this age group at first, but it turns out they are absolutely gorgeous. They tell me they enjoy every part of the yoga class, but especially love the relaxation aspect. ... I love that I can provide this calm space for them to reflect, breathe and move mindfully. Everyone especially loves it when I come around with lavender oil during savasana, as it fills the room with a beautiful aroma! As we are halfway through our term and becoming more experienced in yoga, I challenged the students yesterday to come up with a yoga story based on 5 yoga pose cards. They then taught their sequence to rest of the class. They all did so well I have a couple of spots available in this class for either Term 3 or Term 4. This class is held from 5-6pm on Wednesdays at West End.
19.01.2022 I love the peaceful atmosphere at the end of class for savasana, with the soft glow of the lamp and beautiful scents filling the air. Sometimes I lead students through a yoga nidra (guided meditation), other times I might play calming forest or rain sounds. In our Family Yoga classes, we often end with parent/child massage. In our Primary class, the students enjoy letting go and relaxing their bodies and minds as I come around with an essential oil. Everyone seems to love this part of class! #mindfulkids #kidsyoga #brisbanekids #familyyoga #yoga #meditation #childrensactivities #yogabrisbane
18.01.2022 A deep clean for the Tree Kids Yoga mats today! Of course, they are sanitised and wiped down after each class, but it was time for a good old scrub and pressure hose. Does anyone else’s dog go crazy when they use the hose?! Poor Ham had to stay inside while I cleaned today Luckily, he gets other opportunities like the creek to get wet! ...

17.01.2022 Some days I teach a class of one, and other days I teach three full classes in a row. Yesterday was one of those busier days, with four family yoga classes - one at a private home in Wooloowin and three at my space in West End. I love helping each child and family feel relaxed and happy throughout my classes. I love watching them discover and develop an appreciation for yoga. Their progress every week and the way they connect with each other and listen to their own bodies is ...awesome.
15.01.2022 What a beautiful Family Yoga class we had today! We went through some breathing meditations, sun salutations, practiced some familiar and new asana (poses) and also learnt some Sanskrit words. There was time for fun as well as relaxation. ... This photo was taken towards the end of our class as partners played the mirror game with each other. We ended with a beautiful partner massage. Classes are held from 2:30-3:30pm every Saturday in West End. Spots are available for Term 4 Grandparents, mums, dads or other adult family members are welcome to attend yoga with children - it’s wonderful to see these connections each class
14.01.2022 Because this is our last week of term, everyone is taking home their little chickpea plants Just like each child or family’s yoga practice, these plants have grown over the last 2 months. It was lovely each week watching everyone’s reactions to how much their plant had grown. We talked about how plants, animals and humans all need a little love, care and attention (and water and sunlight too!)... To plant your chickpeas - have a pot or veggie patch ready with soil, fill the jar up with water, tip the jar over into your hand, shake out the contents and cover with new soil P.S It’s very simple to grow a chickpea plant of your own - with gravel at the bottom, potting mix and a few dried chickpeas on top. Place in a sunny spot and water every 2-3 days
11.01.2022 How sweet is this!! A lovely 7 year old student brought this in to our class yesterday. It’s a step by step guide on how to do tree pose. He is apparently loving his yoga classes, which makes me so happy I still have a few spots in my Wednesday 5-6pm class at West End, for 7 to 12 year olds. Message or email [email protected] for more info!...
11.01.2022 I'm embarrassed to admit, I have become a little fixated on the number of likes on this page. It's been a painful, slow climb towards 250 over the past few months! I know it's not huge, but I am proud anyway. I'm so grateful to everyone who likes, shares and comments on my posts. Thank you. ... As I open up Tree Kids Yoga to a wider audience, saying yes to more private classes and offering school holiday classes in different locations, it is exciting to share the joys of yoga with even more children and families across Brisbane! From little things, big things grow ~ School Holiday Schedule coming soon ~

09.01.2022 How amazing is this artwork by a Year 8 student? I am pleased to see so many wonderful things happening for NAIDOC week celebrating First Nations people, culture and language - particularly on the ABC and Triple J. Initiatives such as the 50 Words Project (a resource of at least 50 words from 60 Aboriginal nations) are so important for learning and reconciliation. The Uni of Melbourne announced this week they will be extending this project to incorporate even more languag...es, which is amazing. Check it out here! https://50words.online #alwayswasalwayswillbe
06.01.2022 Our Primary/Teen Yoga classes are always fun, but also relaxing On Wednesday, we played What’s the Time Mrs Wolf yoga style with students having to freeze in a standing, balance or back bend pose. We’ve also been challenging ourselves to learn the Sanskrit words for the yoga poses. ... We then ended our class with a candle meditation. My students tell me they love the relaxation part of yoga Holiday classes will be held on Monday 28th & Tuesday 29th September - more details coming soon!! Term 4 Class Enrolments are also now open
06.01.2022 I've always felt a little uncomfortable when I've heard the phrase "You get what you get, and you don't get upset" so I really LOVE this updated version written by children. We need to reinforce to children (and adults!) that it is OK to be upset or disappointed. It is OK to feel angry or sad or jealous. We all feel like that sometimes.... The key is how we deal with these challenging feelings, how we respond and how we behave. As discussed in the post below - we can give children tips to calm down, like taking deep breaths or finding a quiet space away from others. Or we can let them know, it's OK to just sit in that feeling for a while. We can also ask them "Is this a small problem or a big problem?"
05.01.2022 Yes!! It’s all about the process rather than the product. Instead of asking What is it? we could say Tell me about what you are making? Or we could simply comment on the colours or lines without giving our approval or disapproval - for example, I can see you have used red and created some purple swirly lines too... And just wait
