19.01.2022 Cutting some amazing timber from these old fallen trees
17.01.2022 5 things you can do to save fire damaged trees As a result of the recent fires we have lost so many important trees. Without your help thousands more are likely to die in the coming months and years. The biggest issue is going to be availability of water. Here are 5 tips to help fire damaged trees recover.... 1. PROVIDE LOTS OF WATER. Fire damaged trees are going to need lots and lots of water, they need water to be able to grow new absorbing roots and they need water to replace leaves that have been burnt. Be careful not to wash away the topsoil, you may need to use a wetting agent or rake the soil to help the water penetrate 2. APPLY A LAYER OF MULCH to protect the roots and retain moisture. Do this as soon as possible but just be careful if there are still trees burning and spot fires occurring in your area as the mulch could catch alight. 3. DO NOT FERTILISE. This will most likely harm the roots and reduce the uptake of water. 4. AVOID PRUNING unless it it necessary. Pruning removes leaves which provide food and it creates wounds that will cause the tree to use a lot of energy. Pruning may be required if the tree has become structurally unstable. 5. If you are not confident that your tree can be saved, GET SOME ADVICE from an experienced Arborist. If you would like any more information please call Mick on 0400 999 595 or send us a message.
