24.01.2022 Did you know ... that occupational therapy is focused on promoting health and wellbeing by enabling people to participate in the everyday occupations of life? (ahpa 2020) It includes self-care activities like showering, dressing, preparing food; productive activities such as education, and leisure/social activities like engaging in a hobby, or being part of a friendship group. All of which are especially important for children under 12.... We are excited to announce our newest Treehouse OT is onsite and working with clients! We welcome Jenny to our Treehouse family. Jenny has many years of experience working with children with disabilities and developmental delays. She has particular interest in supporting children with ASD to assist them with the everyday skills needed for living including toileting, dressing, feeding, behaviour and gross motor skills ... or a combination of these. We are excited to say that as a result of Jenny joining us, we are able to accept new clients for immediate start ( No Waitlist!!!) If you or someone you know has a child requiring OT up to 12 years of age, share this message or contact us to discuss how we can support your OT needs.

23.01.2022 Thank you to clubs NSW and the Queanbeyan Leagues club for our supporting our 2019 Swimming and Water Safety Program.

23.01.2022 Bet you cant guess what todays big thing at Treehouse is? Thats right! ... Bringing our voice and sharing our experience as an NDIS provider in Eden-Monaro! Todays NDIS Eden-Monaro Town Hall Forum is ... hosted by Bill Shorten and Kristy Mcbain. (NDIS- National Disability Insurance Scheme, just in case you didnt already know that ) As a live virtual meeting, we had the opportunity to share our point of view and ask questions of the Shadow Minister for the NDIS (Bill Shorten) about ensuring continued and relevant disability services for the region, and to identify some of the challenges facing our organisation. We were also pleased to see that participants, parents, families, carers and advocates were also given time with the Shadow Minister in their own virtual town hall meeting to discuss the issues they face as scheme participants. Under the NDIS, support is provided for eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychosocial disability. Early Intervention for children covers the above AND developmental delays in children. Check out 5 year old Rams NDIS story below. Treehouse holds regular Early Intervention classes/groups throughout the week for children. Eligible NDIS participants can attend as part of their plan and we also provide speech and occupational therapies, and keyworker services where appropriate. Contact us today if youd like more information about how we inclusively support children with additional needs to reach their potential

20.01.2022 Sad news yesterday for the Treehouse family, Peter Bray who was our previous President and a member of our board for many years passed away yesterday afternoon. He was one of a handful of people that worked tirelessly in a voluntary capacity to support Queanbeyan Childrens Special Needs Group, to secure our new premises and the renovation of this building. Peter was also the CEO of Hartley Lifecare, the President of Meals on Wheels and the Deputy Mayor of Queanbeyan. Peter always had a joke to share and I think he will be remembered not only for his hard work but his quick wit and sense of humour. You will be missed Peter.

20.01.2022 This week Treehouse is celebrating. In response to COVID-19 we are now providing online 1-1 therapy and group play sessions for our clients. 18.01.2022 Did you know? Early Intervention at Treehouse is specialised support for children with a disability or developmental delay. Affectionately known as EI around our facility, it involves young children from the time a need is recognised. EI support can consist of:... therapy or key worker 1-1 sessions, specialised group participation, or a combination of these. 1-1 sessions can also occur in a childs mainstream setting such as a preschool or early childhood space. EI is important because it is a support system that enables parents to collaborate with Early Intervention teachers and other professionals to: meet the needs of their child, aid their development and assist with transition to formal school settings e.g. preschool /primary school. EI groups at Treehouse run from week 2 of the NSW school terms. Dont forget to check in next week for our second Did you know?, and in the meantime like and share this post you never know who might need to know about Treehouse services #earlyintervention #treehouse #ecei #therapy #transitiontoschool #disability #developmentaldelay #treehousequeanbeyan #qcsng
