16.01.2022 Dancing and learning with Shani in the Koala room. The children at Treehouse have made their own play list, and enjoy adding to it each day. What are your children's favourite songs?

16.01.2022 Team work, making the dream work. Our Educator Daniel and the children were busy relocating the guinea pigs to their new home in the playground. The team worked hard raking rocks, laying new sugar cane mulch and carrying the cage. We are so lucky to be reintroducing the animals to Treehouse. ... Interacting with animals has many benefits to a child’s development. Developing positive feelings about pets can contribute to a child's self-esteem and self-confidence. Positive relationships with pets can aid in the development of trusting relationships with others. A good relationship with an animal or pet can also help in developing non-verbal communication, compassion, and empathy. At Treehouse we believe animals can serve different purposes for children: They can be safe recipients of secrets and private thoughts- children often talk to their pets, like they do to their stuffed animals. They provide lessons about life, including reproduction, birth, illnesses, accidents, death, and bereavement. They can help develop responsible behavior in the children who care for them. They provide a connection to nature. They can teach respect for other living things.

15.01.2022 We had a friendly resident possum attempting to join in on the team party Saturday night. Both Treehouse and Mullaway teams came together to connect around the campfire as we reflected on the last few months. We shared food, drinks, laughter and we acknowledged and appreciated how incredible our team members are. What do you love about our team of educators?

13.01.2022 There are so many benefits to having a mixed age group environment. The relationships and connections we see at Treehouse are just beautiful

08.01.2022 Science By providing hands on science experiences the children at Treehouse are able to develop many skills and processes. Such as *Problem solving.. how much do I need..how much will fit in. *Allowing the children to be inqusitive..what's going on here..this looks exciting.. *hypothesise...what is going to happen.. how much of each do I add. * reflect and retell...guess what happen, come and watch, look when you put the vinegar in.... Daniel did not tell the children what was going to happen when the two substances were added together. It was amazing to hear their predictions and see the wonder and excitement on their faces. 05.01.2022 We provide children the opportunities to engage in heavy work and rope (knot)play during everyday play... No bush turkeys were caught on this day.. Knot tying is a core skill that not only builds capacity and competence which allows more elaborate play to ensure, but also contributes to the foundations required for so many other important skills like reading, writing, spelling and problem solving. Heavy work is any type of activity that pushes or pulls against the body. Heavy work engages a sense called proprioception, or body awareness.

03.01.2022 Niki Buchan will be soon joining us at Mullaway for an inspiring session. If you are interested to join us too please email us at [email protected]
